The only truly great Grateful Dead albums are the ones that had nothing to do with jam and were country (although Anthem for the Sun is great). The rest of their stuff was only good, but not great, with some super fucking terrible thrown in. I wouldn't consider GD a jam band just because they did so live, American Beauty and Workingman's Dead were tight.

Opps, I fucked up.

Is that the only magazine you've heard off? And, no, I didn't pull that from Rolling Stone, I actually was introduced to AB from the TV show Freaks and Geeks. I have listened too a ton of the stuff on your list, and while like I said, it's good, it's not fucking great.

no its not, but I use to have a subscription and whenever I read you posts about music, your comments and muisical biases lead me to believe that the Rollingstone is your Bible. Which is a very bad thing.

And if you think tht Studio Dead is better than Live Dead you either haven't really listened to live Dead or were dropped on the head as a baby.

If they did they would be more like all them generic bands you listen to.

edit - and they did (according to you) play there best stuff more than enough, but if you are ever been in a band that has toured for 30 years and has played more than 2300+ shows together, you just might have a craving for doing something different.

NEW BJORK: but not what you think...

Bjork Singles Box....again
Looks like they're going to be giving it another go. Let's hope it actually comes out this time. From bjork.com:

--
Looks like some sort of itch is setting in, because for 7 years, we have had plans to make a SINGLES BOX SET and it guess what - that soup is being stirred again as it certainly looks like it is has gotten a confirmed final release for April!

It is the complete singles box. Every single, mix and white label combined in one box. This is being released to cater for the demand for the obscure mixes which are no longer available, hard to get or were never released in some countries.

And to add to the excitement, the word is indeed that the design-legends of Me Company will be the ones designing it.

this means that underworld mix will be out

HOWEVER, i am owed at least $40 by Bjork because i was fool enough to buy the family tree set, and i was gloriously ripped off.

The Beta Band will release their self-produced, Nigel Godrich-mixed third full-length Heroes To Zeroes, May 4th on Astralwerks, according to a Billboard report (the album will be out one week earlier in the UK, on April 26th). The album will be preceded by first single "Assessment" in the UK on April 12th, with an accompanying video chronicling "the history of human warfare," according to the band's Steve Mason.

In fact, the band are hard at work on clips to accompany each of the album's twelve cuts for a future DVD release. Each of the Beta's four members will be responsible for three videos each, with the possibility that some of the tracks "may not be from the LP but will be new," according to Mason. Here's the album tracklist:

01 Assessment
02 Space
03 Lion Thief
04 Easy
05 Wonderful
06 Troubles
07 Out-side
08 Space Beatle
09 Rhododendron
10 Liquid Bird
11 Simple
12 Pure For
