Anyone know if this show is worthy of a purchase? I have recently found quite a few british series I enjoy and this show keeps coming up. Any shows it's comparable to?

It's quite good but Peter Kay is mainly about observational comedy. Particularly relating to northern England, so you might not really get some of it. Either way it's still has it's moments.

The closest thing to it is Max and Paddy's Road to Nowhere, which is a spin off of Phoenix Nights about the club's bouncers. You can watch most of it on TV Links.

Make sure you check out Brasseye and Peep Show while you're at it.

There is another series called Monkey Dust which everyone should watch but I don't think it's on there.

fuck yes brass eye. peep shows definitely worth it too. and garth marenghi's darkplace, if you like richard ayoade. doesnt look like armando iannucci show, jam or day today are available there but if you get a chance, look into it--especially if you enjoy brass eye.

im not really into peter kay, like MM says he has his moments but its definitely a northern thing. dont even bother with little britain though, its a horrible show with a black heart, and not in a funny way.

I always thought Darkplace missed the mark. It's an amusing premise and it should be funny but never pulled it off as well as it could.

Still, it does have a few good bits.

really? I thought it was the best show i'd seen in ages - the little details like extras walking in and out of shots, desynced sound, even the fake food glued to plates. it just seemed to really nail the shoestring eighties dramas, and dean learner is one of the funniest characters in it imo. one man's meat I suppose.

just noticed the mighty boosh is on tv-links too...!
