On September 11, 2001 he was scheduled to return to Los Angeles on American Airlines Flight 11 after being a keynote speaker at his alma-mater in Rhode Island. Due to a mix-up by his travel agent he was told that his flight was scheduled to depart at 8:15am but it really departed at 7:45am and he had arrived at Boston Logan Airport a few minutes after boarding was stopped on his flight and he was told he would have to wait for the next flight. At 8:45am one hour after the departure of American Airlines Flight 11 it was hijacked by terrorists and crashed into One World Trade Center (North Tower) in New York City killing all onboard. He was able to contact his parents within 20 minutes of Flight 11 striking the first tower to tell them he was okay. He also said that he thanked god that his travel agent had screwed up the departure time or he would have been on board and he wouldn't have known what to do when the terrorists took over the plane.
IN CONCLUSION, HAD HE GOTTEN ON THE PLANE WE WOULD NOT HAVE THE DEBACLE OF A FOURTH SEASON OF FAMILY GUY

Okay. . .forgive me if this seems "unamerican" or whatever, but I'm just sick of hearing about it. I remember that day. They evacuated my school for crissakes. But that was FOUR YEARS AGO! Get over it, people. I'm sorry if you lost loved ones in during the attack, but this "I didn't lose anyone, but they were American, and Americans are supossed to stand together" shit is pissing me off.

Dude, I hate that shit too.
I mean the civil war was like over a hundred years ago but they keep making shows about it. Duh! Whatever dude, no one cares about that stuff.
And how come we still care about Kennedy being shot that was all the way back in the 60's...
I'm so sick of hearing about history...
Learning, and remembering makes my head hurt...

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I've heard that there exist people in America that did not know there was a second world war and others who didn't even know who won it!!!!

It appears that in America, only American history is taught. Now considering this is only about 200 years or so how the hell do you manage to make that last for the entire duration of school?? When I was at school we learnt about the World Wars and winning lots of battles such as The Armarda (lots of boats and Spanish), Medival History (grow onions next to carrots to prevent diseases), Tudor (lots of people getting beheaded) etc. etc.

I may have mentioned before that I went to a museum in St. Louis. It took us five minutes to tour it. I kept asking my mum where all the information was. Over here we have lots of broken pots and dead stuffed animals and towering dinosaurs...

That's not entirely true Slinky. World History was a required subject for me in the 10th grade. The class itself was horrible, and taught straight from a textbook by a football coach, but we did have a world history class.

Well, I had a World History class in 7th grade that was called Geography, and a geography class freshman year called World History. I also took two elective world history classes in high school, but I'm an oddball like that.

but I've noticed that they often go a little overboard in teaching "what really happened" these days.

I'm glad to be proved wrong! I was extremely concerned when I heard this. However, this may just be the fools that my cousin is friends with! I just needed to check that this wasn't a state spread problem...

Appologies if I offended anyone.

haha

Seriously though my grandma had that

In regards to the whole September 11th thing (sorry I took this thread off topic), well I saw all the footage from television and saw the buildings fall and felt a little sad but more numb than anything. We had our own version of that over here recently and what was so sad it some people could have survived if they had checked all the buses too or not got onto the other trains. What makes it upsetting is when you look at their ages and what they had achieved with their lives. That could have been your dad, mum, brother, sister or friend.
