I have an old scanner installed on my computer (with updated drivers of course) but recently we had a power outage. Somehow, my autoexec.nt file appears to have been fucked up as a result, because my scanner is no longer working.
Whenever I try running it from Photoshop, I get the following error:
Quote:
The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose'Close' to terminate the application
|
So the first thing I did was try to copy autoexec.nt from c:\windows\repair to c:\windows\system32
When I tried doing this, it gave me the following error:
Quote:
cannot copy autoexec: data error (cyclic redundancy check)
|
Next I tried to expand the file from my Windows XP disk using the following command:
expand D:\i386\autoexec.nt_ c:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt
When I tried doing this, it gave me the following error:
Quote:
can't open output file c:windows\system32\autoexec.nt
|
Now I'm pretty much lost on what to try next. I already tried reinstalling the scanner drivers, but it gives me the same error. I can't delete or rename system32\autoexec.nt. Tried going into safe mode too... no luck.
Any ideas?
