Actually, yes you can be repressed by other people. Professor Lycurgus will show you how.
First, let's look at the definition for repress:
re-press
1 a : to check by or as if by pressure : CURB <injustice was repressed> b : to put down by force : SUBDUE <repress a disturbance>
2 a : to hold in by self-control <repressed a laugh> b : to prevent the natural or normal expression, activity, or development of <repressed her anger>
3 : to exclude from consciousness
4 : to inactivate (a gene or formation of a gene product) by allosteric combination at a DNA binding site
As you can see, repression can be used in three different ways despite four different variations of the definition. The first and third variations are what shall make my point though.
Now, isn't it true you can put down somebody by force literally and figuaratively? Isn't it possible to subdue someone by pushing them out of the picture and making them feel like nothing? Isn't it possible to exclude a person from your consciousness? Am I right to say that you are all going to do the same to me because I am probably annoying you all? :P
So thus, someone can be repressed by others. It's not just in the sense someone represses themselves.
As for your shoe collection, I'm sure it's very nice.
