Old Jun 14th, 2005, 03:23 AM        Car Purchase: The Subaru XT
My friend and I went car shopping today, and we found a little Subaru tucked away at one of the crappy lots.

My friend knows alot about cars, and pointed it out right away. So I decided to take a closer look. This was the strangest fucking car I had ever seen. 2 wheel FWD normally, but with a 4 wheel on the fly button that sat on top of the clutch stick. And this car was freaking weird. The steering wheel had a telescoping ability, which allowed us to bring it out further then normal. The car lights/sounds/buttons and all that jazz where one two wing style objects that jutted out from the wheel itself, independent from the dash. And the wheel... it had a L instead of the traditional T or V shape.

They where asking about 2000 for it, and it was at only 109,000 miles, which is decent for a 1989 Subaru of anykind. The carlot car was a econ model, with a weak 4 cylinder. My friend informed me that a turbo or decent engine swap to this already lightweight, great handling car would give it serious upgrade in power.

I found a brochure, look at the clutch stick (the pictured is automatic, but the manual looks exactly the same also)
and it just freaking strange.

It is either this, a 92 Nissan Pathfinder, or a 94 raised Chevy S-10, tricked out to be a off-roader. Wench/roll bars/swamplights.

I used to despise the subaru's but all that has totally changed now. For 2000 dollars, it must be in hell of a good shape. Although, I'd recommend the S-10. You won't regret it. Trucks has a lot of practical uses and while it's tricked out as an off-road, you'd have a lot of advantages. Unlesss it's badly beaten and out of shape, forget it.
