Old Mar 17th, 2003, 09:55 AM        League of Extraordinary Gentlemen trailer out
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/2850045.stm

Looks nothing like the comic book, but it could turn out cool I suppose. Not able to hear the audio where I am right now, so hard to make an opinion (not that most trailers present whet you'll really get AT ALL).

What looks dangerous is that Tom Sawyer (possible minor spoiler), who wasn't in the original at all, will pretty much be the main character. Connery will of course be the alpha male, but Mr. Sawyer will be the leader of the pack and the protagonist in the sequel. Which just shows how reluctant Hollywood is to having Englishmen as main characters.

Now that I think about it, it will probably suck. But I really hope it'll turn out alright. Guess we'll see.

I think it's gonna fucking suck. I don't WANT it to suck, but I keep hearing horrible, HORRIBLE things about it. Evidently it was a hellish production to make on just about every front.

It's lame that they felt the need to throw Tom Sawyer into the story, and I've heard that he and Huck Finn are gay lovers.

And they also tossed Dorian Gray into the group as well. Why?

Alan Moore will be spinning in his grave, I tell you...AND HE'S NOT EVEN DEAD YET!!!

Yeah, I know, it could have owned.

By the way, I keep hearing about a second comic book. Truth to the rumors?

Awesome! They probably won't be available where I live for another two years, but I can wait.
