Ok, so a few weeks ago I go to the dentist for my 6 month checkup and, suprise!, I have cavities. Four cavities in my two front teeth (upper). Two in each. I have absolutely no pain, I brush like 14 times a day, but still, I need to get my teeth drilled. The usual crap. I schedule an appointment on Aug. 25 to get them filled.
But then, a week later, a discover I have an big hole in on of my teeth. Top row, to the left of the two front teeth. I had a root canal on this tooth, so I know it's just the temporary crown breaking. I still need to get a permanent one put one.
So I go to the dentist, and while I'm there they decide to fix the crown AND fill the cavities I was going to have drilled a few weeks later. So, after about an hour of drilling (four cavities takes a long ass time
) I'm done. Few hours later, the novacaine wears off, and the teeth that were just drilled are in incredible pain. Which is typical, you know, for me to not have any tooth pain, get seemingly unneeded oral surgery, and then have an assload of pain.
So I call the dentist, get antibiotics and some codein. A week later, it still hurts, so I call my root canal doctor (endotologist, or something, doesn't matter) and schedlue an appointment a few days later. By the time my appointment rolls around, the pain in my teeth is almost completely gone. He takes x-rays and agrees that nothing is wrong.
Then, two days later, the pain comes back, even worse, so I call him again. He refuses to give me more antibiotics and painkillers, and the earliest I could get an appointment was in a week, so I suffer for a week, the day of the appointment, the pain is totally gone.
He takes x-rays and says that the roots were dying, which would explain the on-again off-again pain, so he does a root canal. That was my 4th root canal in three years. Counting the root canals I had when I was a toddler, I've had 10 root canals in my life. And judging from the x-ray I had when I had my wisdom teeth pulled, I have more teeth with fillings in them than I have teeth without fillings in them. I think I have more fake teeth than real teeth.
