-Mega Man X (I do like the MMX series, but who in the hell decided giving Mega Man a 10 year old girl's voice was a good idea?)

-Navi from Ocarina of Time

-the Reaper from the original Castlevania (if only for the fact that I couldn't goddamn beat him without ROM save states)

-Most later Mega Man bosses (I still haven't figured out what the hell a Yamato is.)

Maybe, but also, try Mega Man X4-6 on the PSX. Zero has this "HAH, HOO, HAH!", Zorro-ish kinda voice....

...while Mega Man more or less barks out this dog/frog/penguin hybrid of a squawk every time he gets hit. Or the ever funny "TAKE THAT!", spoken as harshly as a 5 year old with a dodgeball.

Intimidating.

More characters I hate:

-Eggplant fucking Wizards (Kid Icarus)

-Mr. Sandman from Punch Out. I only say this because after playing the original on NES, then getting the ROM, and finding out the control I bought to use with my ROMs ain't quite as responsive as an NES Control Pad...argh!

-Top Man (Mega Man 3). Useless.

-The old man in the original Legend Of Zelda. RoG probably saved my sanity with the "Kill The Old Man" game on the main site... it's something I'd been wanting to do since the late 80's.

-Umaro from Final Fantasy 6 (3 US). I just don't fucking care for characters I can't control.

-Princess Peach, if for any other reason, just the fact that the computer AI on Smash Brothers Melee seems to be able to beat me using only this character. And use her flawlessly. Grr.

-The red knights from Wizards and Warriors. Along with the old man from Legend of Zelda, you can't know how badly I wished you could shove your sword, hilt and all, right between this guy's eyebrows.

FF8 had great characters. Now FF7, THERE'S your shitty ones. You got a talking dog, a stuffed animal, a Mr. T ripoff, a scantilly-clad barmaid, and a faggot in a Speedo that calls people "Bubby."

No, the story made the game work.

James: I don't see how anyone can make the argument that FFVIII has better characters than FFVII. Anyway, the characters in FFVI will always be the best.

-With his items, he is pretty damn tough. Especially when you bring him to the Fanatics Tower.

Raiden < Snake, that is the only reason he gets flak.

MGS2's Raiden definitely tops my list. Kojima made a too risky move of placing Raiden over Snake in most of MGS2.

I hated FF8's characters. There was a whiny little teenager, his rival, the girl who resists you in the beggining but after about 80 hours of game play you finally get her, his 'clever' teacher, and other forgetable characters.

But that's just me

Personally, I liked the characters in FF7. Not all of them, but most of them.

I also have to agree with Zidane. Fucker looked like the missing Olsen twin, with a tail.

7's characters were just really out there with their designs and personalities. At least 8's were designed with a more realistic look and personalities that were more human.


And I don't see why people hate Raiden so much. I can understand the disappointment when you find out you don't get to play as Snake the whole time. But it was a ballsy move on Kojima's part, and one that opened up a lot of potential good stories for future installments (if they're made).
