A friend of mind plans on getting Seiken Densetsu 3. We want to start up a 3-player game, which luckily can be played on the snes through the use of a game genie to make the cartridge fit, but unfortunately it's in Japanese. Anybody here know of a way to get an english translation hack onto the cartridge?

Not for the cartridge, but I have an English ROM patch.

Edit: You can't play it on the SNES even if it does fit, can you? Doesn't it have that stupid zoning lock like DVDs have?

I've heard that super famicom cartridges only have problems due to size, and the game genie handles that problem. Either way, the chances of translating it are looking grim so I may need to give up.

I think for the US SNES, there's just a plastic tab inside the system that prevents Japanese catridges from fitting in correctly. So if you just break it off, you can play the games just fine.

Installing a translation to a catridge, though, is really not an option. I do think there are SNES emulators that have online support, so you could just play a patched version of the game over the internet with him, though don't ask me how.

Jamesman's right. Games are burned into ROM chips on the game cartridges and there's no way to change them.

ZSNES has online support. If you both get a patched ROM of the game, you can play it over the internet. The game's pretty popular, so finding a patched ROM should be easy.

SD3 kicks ass and the translation is pretty well done. Easier to just emulate it.

I own one Super Famicom cartridge, Final Fantasy V (loose unfortunately).

And does it in fact work fine through a game genie?

Sorry guys but I'm above emulation.

It does in fact work fine though a game genie, but no translation for the cartridge ever. The only way you'll get an English version aside from emulation is if you blackmail Squaresoft into releasing it for Playstation or something.

They did just release Seiken Densetsu for Game Boy Advance, though, so keep your fingers crossed.

I actually own a Super Famicom, and have the problem in reverse. :0

After i arrive here, no one stocked games for my system, the SNES cartridges would fit, but wouldnt work. :<

I also have Disk Doctor System, so essentially i could play ROMS on the actual console, except that all my Famicom cartridges memory banks have died, so they cant load the ROMs on them. ;<

And i cant find a working Super Famicom Cartridge on E-Bay here either. ;<
