Clownin' around.
This lurking girl from Six Flags Fright Fest is still the best scare actor I've ever seen.
She just creeps along sooooo slowly and never breaks character for a second. The best!
Monster Maker Lab made me realize I'd totally drink out of Frankenstein's skull.
Have a heart!
Are you ready for Freddy... to go back to school?
Super realistic rubber props!
You 'n me both.
Vintage style jack-o-cat.
Light up LED masks, clearly inspired by The Purge.
Seeing this made me think of The Lair of the White Worm.
One day, I will purchase this crab costume from Abracadaver and spend the rest of my life walking around in it.
Spooky lil' skele-dolls from Hayes Haunt.
Another Sam I should've purchased.
Loved these Haunted Mansion ghosts by MonsterManorLA.
The audience patiently watches a zombie clown perform magic tricks.
Harvest Jack was a nice lil' Halloween book & doll combo for kids.
Rotten pumpkins for a rotten fella!
They really gotta start offering better meals to Midsummer Scream attendees.
Another prop from one of our favorite haunted attractions, Reign of Terror in Thousand Oaks.
Rare grandparents pumpkins from the vintage Todd Masters "Oh Lantern" family!
And here's the other one!
Care for a poison apple?
Poor Mikey. He looks all left out.
The Dragula!
And a side-view of Dragula.
Most dolls, $15.
Most nightmares, free.
BARF-O-LANTERN!
The Hall of Shadows contained mini-mazes and other haunted attractions.
Excellent Hocus Pocus cosplay!
The Headless Horseman rides again!
Lost souls, forever entombed in the base of this haunted tree.
Purrrrfect.
The line for this Bait Shop haunt was too long, but I'll be sure to keep an eye out for it this coming season.
Same goes for the "Gorelesque" peep show.
Abyssma had no line at all, so we walked right through. The entire thing was just empty rooms until...
...we reached the final room with a vat full of styrofoam peanuts and a few rubber balls.
We reached inside expecting something to jump out, but nothing ever did.
So yeah, that mini-haunt definitely lived up to its name.
Crowds gather 'round to watch the greatest haunt sliders in action.
Michael Myers sheet ghost scares you!
Then Michael Myers sheet ghost makes an even scarier phone call!
Her Beetlejuice cosplay rocks, complete with a purse made from the Handbook for the Recently Deceased!
Not so invisible now, are you?
Silent Hill nurses love their teddy bears.
"Fabulously Freaky!"
A jumbo Halloween III VHS case & pillow. Silver Shamrock approved.
That volcano goddess with an actual flickering head by CovenFX was soooo awesome.
What a freakishly fetching zombie!
Strike a pose. Vogue.
I can think of no finer way to end this pictorial than with a photo of Pinhead hanging out in the children's craft area.
Oh wait... there was one other photo.
ANY QUESTIONS!?
I love having an excuse to go down to the Long Beach convention center to celebrate Halloween, so it's great that Midsummer Scream returned for another successful showing this year. If you're anywhere near Long Beach, I highly recommend checking it out when they return next summer. Big thanks again to our friends from the Midsummer Scream staff for inviting us to cover the festivities. Hope to see ya in 2018, Midsummer Scream!
