I-Mockery Pays Tribute To Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' Music Video
by: -RoG-

Hello ma'am.

The camera pans all the way around his girlfriend and she's now standing face to face with a completely zombified Michael Jackson. This leads up to a classic zoom-dolly shot where she's frozen in terror, and while Hitchcock invented the trick, I think this is easily one of the best uses of it you'll ever see. And then, going against all previous notions of zombies we've ever seen, Zombie Michael starts to dance!

AAAAOOOOOGA!

*INVOLUNTARY NECK SPASMS!*

Those eyes... THOSE EYES!! Have you ever seen a better pair of hallowed out zombie eyes in your life? Combined with the involuntary twitching and the mouth that keeps opening for gasps of air, Michael had truly become the ultimate zombie. He also had some pretty sweet dance moves too such as...

SHA-ZAAM!
The Zombie Pizzazz!

CROTCHTACULAR!
The Zombie Crotch-Thrust!

1 AND 2 AND SLIDE AND STOMP AND 1 AND 2...
The Zombie Slide!

HI MOM!
The Zombie Wave!

As if those slick dance moves weren't enough, it's now time for the...

BOO!

AIEEEEEEEEEE!

RAAAAAAAAR!

GERONIMO!

HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

HE'S BAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK

Michael and his zombie squad then stomp off into the night, only to turn around revealing that Michael is back to his normal human self - yet still singing and dancing with the undead.

GET DOWN WIT YO' BAD SELVES, ZOMBIE MEN! HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOO!

A few of the undead guys have stepped aside to show off their robotic dance moves too. For a bunch of forty-thousand-year-old corpses, these guys are pretty limber!

RISE MY ZOMBIES, RIIIIIIIIIIIIIISE!

After commanding his zombies to "riiiiiiiiiiiiiise!" he turns back around with an "ow!" and has now returned to his zombie form once again.

Smart move lady, no really... SMART MOVE

Unlike her 1950's movie self, his girlfriend doesn't wait around screaming any longer. She starts running away from Michael and his creepy-assed eyes. But rather than run back to the theater where there's safety in numbers, she runs up into an old abandoned haunted house type o' place. Again, smart girl.

YOU SHOULD'VE BOUGHT 'THERMAL GARD' BRAND WINDOWS!

The zombies make their way up to the house slowly, and while speed isn't their thing, they do possess more than enough strength to break through the walls, doors and windows of the place.

SORRY, I DIDN'T WANT TO USE THE FRONT DOOR

Oh and the floors too. Yeah, that one zombie decided that going through the front door or the windows was just too easy. Then again, maybe he was buried under the house and was just coming to life. I guess we'll never know.

NICE BARRICADE

Michael then breaks through the door to the room that his girlfriend is hiding in, and tosses aside the makeshift barricade which she left in front of it as if it were nothing.

LOOK INTO HIS EYES!

Completely surrounded by Michael and the other zombies, she can only do one thing and stare into Mike's eyes...

DEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP INTO HIS EYES!

Those big, white, sunken, haunting eyes that keep getting closer and closer and...

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

She screams her ass off one last time, only to realize that she's safe 'n sound back at Michael's pad. Everything is back to normal and Mike offers to take her home. Looks like it was all a dream...

OH NO! IT WASN'T A DREAM AFTER ALL!
OR WAS IT!?

It's the perfect ending to a perfect music video. I'll always have great memories of watching Thriller, and I owe a lot of credit to it for making me obsessed with Halloween and the world of zombies in general. If you haven't ever seen it, I *highly* recommend you track down a copy of the old "Making Michael Jackson's Thriller" video tape. In addition to the Thriller music video itself, the tape has all sorts of great behind the scenes footage from the dance choreography, the wolf and zombies make-up being applied, crazed fans and much more. Here's part 1:

Despite not being a huge Michael Jackson's fan, I don't disagree with the fact that he simply was the greatest dancer of his time and this music video will be the best testament of that in his behalf.

So be it. Rest in peace, dude.

I just now found out he was dead.

Even though he was just a shell of his former self, it's still pretty sad.

Hmmm, I wonder if now he really will come back as a zombie.

Twenty Years hence, this remains the best music video ever created.

Fare thee well, Michael. You will be missed.

Oh man does this video bring back memories! I remember when I first saw this. I was with my mom and my brothers at a neighbor's house across the street one night. I miraculously commandeered the remote control which given that I was only 5 at the time was a big rarity. After flipping through the channels for the fun of it, I stopped dead in my tracks at the sight of Michael Jackson on MTV. This was at a time when I was still riding high on his other two songs Billie Jean and Beat It. I couldn't pass up the chance to see what was MJ gonna do next. He certainly didn't disappoint. It was thriller, my first time viewing it and when he turned into that werewolf man I was terrified I couldn't even move and strangely couldn't help but be fascinated at what I was watching. From there the music kicked in and I was hooked. Thriller became my number one MJ song next to Smooth Criminal and after that experience I was hooked on Halloween for life. I loved the song so much that I had my parents play it over and over again in the car while they drove us around trick or treating at various neighborhoods. Good times I tells ya. Michael Jackson will be missed for sure. His whole life was one awesome and sometimes bizzare performance. Here's hoping that you are up there somewhere moonwalking on the clouds as only you can. RIP MJ.

holy crap! i remember watching this when i was 8. amazing! the choreography is so great that (no joke) when i went to air force basic training, our training instructor was teaching us how to march and he used thriller as a reference on how to coordinate with your fellow dancers, or in our case, marchers. and if the military uses thriller as a reference, it shows how good mj was. this video and other right after it show that you can make a video to complement a good song, unlike today, where you have rappers making videos about bling bling and throwing cash and cars and hos around. in other words, it seems that videos are only for image purposes and the music has been relegated to a secondary role, which doesnt help the fact that today's music sucks ass. and yes, mtv sucks. even its sibling vh1, which i had in such high esteem, is just horrible. as for mj, his personal lifestyle might have been questionable, what with the pedophile accusations, the surgeries, hanging out with a chimp, and all, but there's no question, the man was a great performet. rip!!!
Is it fun yet?

As much as I love Thriller and MJ, there's only one video worthy of being MTV's most played, and it's Sledgehammer. That having been said, Peter Gabriel can't dance anywhere near as well as Michael lol

MJ's music may not have done it for me, but his music videos were things of art and beauty. Thriller was and is still the yardstick against which all others are measured.

There's a group of people here in New Orleans who dressed up as zombies last Hallowe'en, set up a boombox on Frenchmen St., and re-enacted the zombie dance scene from Thriller.
