Review: Addams Family Values was developed by Ocean Software for both the SNES and the Sega Genesis in 1995. This is indeed a movie-based game, but the storyline veers widely from the film.

You control Uncle Fester as he seeks to rescue baby Pubert from Jellinsky. The graphics are decent for SNES, but the characters are very cartoonish. For dialogue boxes, however, they chose to use portraits of the actors from the actual film.

The gameplay is a pretty solid top-down Zelda-esque adventure. Fester gets power-ups in the form of cookies made by Grannie which contain increasingly more odious substances. I have a big complaint though: your health directly affects your combat effectiveness. Fester shoots bolts of lightning from his fingertips, but the length and power of the bolt is directly related to your health. One hit and you aren't at 100% anymore. When your health is low, the reach and power is laughable or cures-worthy depending on your slant.

The sound is great. I mean it. the sound effects are really clear and the music is absolutely awesome. I seriously can't praise the soundtrack enough.

Overall, Addams Family Values gets points for being a mostly well-designed game based on a movie. It's flawed, but it's the best Addams Family game to date in my opinion.

It doesn't really have much to contend with as far as Addams Family games go.

I prefer the music from Fester's Quest actually, but yeah, the music in this game is still great.

I like the Fester's Quest music too. And, yes, the games based on the Addams Family are mostly terrible. The worst in my opinion is Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt.

If memory serves me right, there's an infamous ROM Hack called Fucker's Quest that our good pal Dr. Boogie reviewed for us all.

I liked the Nintendo adams family the best where you play as Gomez and can use Thing 3 different times. Crazy hard of a game though.

I should also mention that The Addams Family had a fantastic pinball machine, and it was always my favorite one to play on by far.

You wouldn't be the only one to think that Rog, The Addam's Family pinball machine is (I believe after reading it recently) the best selling pinball machine ever made.

And yeah, Fester's Quest was classic throughout -I can still remember spending whole weekends watching my cousin trying to make it through that game.
