Review: Ah, Soil. Back when I was in high school, Scars was one of the few albums I ever picked up that proved to be enjoyable through and through. I thought I'd only be getting a couple good songs at most after the local rock station had "Halo" and "Breaking Me Down" in regular rotation, but I was pleasantly surprised.

At the time, I thought every song was great and unique in its own way. In retrospect, however, I have to admit that while the songs aren't identical, they are fairly similar throughout. Granted, there's not much variation to be had with the kind of shout-singing they did on the album, but that's not much of a case for those of you who aren't already fans of the genre. Even so, I think you ought to check out the album, if for no better reason than it's likely going for pocket change right now.

I just recently discovered Soil, thanks to Pandora internet radio. Wow...this is a damn good album if you're into metal, particularly if you're in a rowdy mood.

Of course they're similar, and that's why I never really got the whole 'Manly Scream' bands scene.
