Review: If you're into punk rock, this is just one of those classic genre-defining albums that needs to be in your music collection. The Dead Boys were a punk band from the late 70s and their debut album, Young Loud and Snotty, still holds up well to this day.
Even if you don't know of The Dead Boys, there's a good chance you've heard their single "Sonic Reducer", which is easily the most popular tune they ever produced. It's a hard, driving track that I honestly can't imagine anybody not enjoying. The entire album is a damned good listen, and "Hey Little Girl" is actually a live recording from CBGB's, where they regularly performed.
I should also mention that lead singer, Stiv Bators, sadly passed away in 1990 after being hit by a car and suffering a concussion. He apparently requested that his ashes be spread over Jim Morrison's grave, but his girlfriend was rumored to have snorted his ashes instead. Awesome.
In an age of over-produced, pseudo-punk bands, it's nice to sometimes go back to the original stripped down roots of the genre and The Dead Boys are right at the heart of it.
