Plot: Dr. Bernard Johnson accidentally creates super-heroes, and zombies, and zombie super-heroes.

Review: The Super-Zombies series seems to be more of a parody of the genre rather than a serious attempt at another zombie series. It's filled with so many cliche bits from other comics and different types of media in general, that taking any of it seriously would no doubt cause something internal and vital to rupture. But taken as the parody comic it's hopefully intended to be, it's quite enjoyable.

The story goes that Dr. Bernard Johnson saves the world by creating a vaccine for "Kansas Human Rice Syndrome" (no, I'm not kidding) that's killed millions due to starvation. Unfortunately, a side-effect of the vaccine is that it manifests super-powers in a small number of people (including Dr. Johnson). Now Dr. Johnson has become the smartest man in the world (and sexiest man alive, again no joke) and given the new name Neuron. He creates a place to rescue and train the X-M... uh, genetic mutations in order to battle the evil group known as "Super Criminals".

Things are going well until one night when Neuron is visiting Juan Martinez, during "The Emergence" (when they gain their super-powers) he hears reports on the news about massive rioters all over the world and goes to check out some of the local action from the hospital window. When Neuron returns to check on Juan and his girlfriend (Barbara, he even says "I'm coming for you, Barbara.") he finds her being munched on by her (now super-fied) zombie boyfriend. He shoots Juan and blows him out of the window, but having turned into a super-zombie cat, Juan lands on his feet and runs off into the zombie-filled night.

The artwork done by Mel Rubi and is very good and detailed. So as long as you just laugh and enjoy the ride, there's plenty of fun to be had from this series.
