Review: When news first broke of "The Sunny" Christmas episode I was ecstatic. Then I found out that it was a standalone DVD that you HAD TO BUY to watch it. Fuck that. I was lucky enough that my Jabroni roommate Tony at the time ended up getting it for me for Christmas. Upon opening the packaging he immediately asked to watch it. I wished him a Happy Hanukkah and put it in the DVD player.

The episode starts off with Mac, Charlie, Dennis and Dee arguing in Paddy's Pub about waiting to decorate until the last minute. Siblings Dee and Dennis then explain how their dad Frank always found out what they wanted and then bought the gifts for himself. Frank then pulls up to the bar with Dennis' dream gift, a Lamborghini and exclaims "Merry Christmas bitches!" Frank explains the reasoning behind this is because his kids never understood the reason behind Christmas. Dee and Dennis go to one of Franks old business partners who Frank thinks is dead so he can "Haunt the shit out of him" a la Christmas Carol.

Mac and Charlie relive their adolescent experiences through home movies and flashbacks. For Charlie there were always multiple Santas that come to CHEER UP his mother and give him presents growing up. For Charlie getting presents meant going to other family's houses on Christmas morning and getting their gifts there. Upon hearing each other's stories they come to the realization that their childhoods were both warped at best.

Dee and Dennis continue to try and show Frank what a horrible person he is by having other old colleagues talk about him behind his back. Frank wants to be right in the middle of it though so he suggest they sew him into a couch at an office party. Frank explains that he sneaks into his couch in his apartment all the time and even catches his roommate Charlie POUNDING OFF quite frequently. At the office party D & D finally get someone to say something horrible about their father. Then in a scene reminiscent of Ace Venture 2 Frank then is birthed from the middle of the couch. Hot Sweaty Naked Danny DeVito ass for all the world to see. Bad times.

Further holiday unintentional assholery ensues when Mac tries bringing a present back to the family he "got" it from. Charlie runs into a shopping mall Santa and sits on his lap. Santa is then asked if he has fucked Charlies mom...

The episode is capped off with a musical number with claymation akin to Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Santa Claus is Coming to Town.

All and all there are plenty of the laughs you would expect from watching a regular episode of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia so you won't be disappointed.

If you don't want to have to pay the money for the DVD to see the Christmas episode FX will be airing it on December 16th, 2010.

Merry Christmas Bitches.

The scene where Frank exits the couch had me laughing so hard I chocked. Great episode, though having to buy it separately is indeed not cool.

The article should have actually had Mac going to other families house to get presents. It definitely should have said Jewbroni as well.

Ah, that sounds hilarious and I'm going to have to track it down. I love people parodying the Rankin-Bass films.
