Review: "With battleaxes drawn we race across the sky. Hunting down our enemies, we will see them die. A juggernaut of steel carries us to the end. Unleash a bloody massacre on that you can depend." Sung in metal falsetto akin to bruce dickinson. This is their first album to come out on Century Media after getting dropped from Roadrunner for badmouthing the label. Either way "Here Waits Thy Doom" is years and years better than their last album "Fire Up The Blades". Between Doom and Blades 3IOB lost their last original member being Harsh Vocalist Jamie Hooper due to a throat injury so I was a bit hesitant to give this one a listen....especially coming off Blades which I really didn't like. Most harsh vocals were picked up by guitarist Justin Hagberg who doesn't use throaty growls but its still good. Cam Pipes does most of the vocal duty here which normally he uses a higher pitch for. Throughout most of the songs he has actually lowered his pitch from his previous work.

Concerning the lyrical content of HWTD its mainly power metal/rock and roll inspired such as the 2nd song "Rock in Hell" which is pretty much about Rocking in Hell. Many of the songs are fast tempo but they do slow it down for "Beware the Preachers Daughter" which is like a Blue Oyster Cult song with gang vocals mixed in. With regards to the album as a whole you can almost listen to the entire album without skipping any songs.....my only qualm is the song Snake Fighter. Most of the choruses are really good on the rest of the songs but the Snake Fighter chorus is pretty much just "SNAKE FIGHTER!!!" over and over again. The first few times I listened to it it wasn't too bad but I'm to the point now where I just skip over the song entirely.

In general the best way to listen to this is going out back in time to 1986 and listen to it in the forest. Looking forward to seeing the new songs live hopefully sometime soon because 3 Inches of Blood always put on a great show. I would have gave this a higher score of 4.5 but I can't stand hearing Snake Fighter anymore.

Bruce Dickinson is a proper noun and should be capitalized.

Otherwise, great review, metal isn't my thing but 3 inches of Blood is ok.

been a reader of the site for about 6+ years never felt the need to comment til now.
@10,000, dude how can you not like Snake Fighter? That song is awesome, I'm %99 it's about Conan since I think of James Earl Jones as Thulsa Doom everytime I listen to it. On that note, I'm pretty sure Swordmaster is also Conan themed, and the song Fierce Defender always makes me think of Left 4 Dead.

I think they say "Snake Fighter!" too much by itself let alone after listening to the album repeatedly it started to eat away at me. Fierce Defended is an awesome song too.
