Oh yeah, Geff.

I heard that he possibly had left with the family that he befriended. At least no one else found a talking mongoose after they were gone.

People insisted that it was real. Apparently they had a footprint and a few hairs from him, so who knows?

And what about Bunnyman? He's just weird: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bunnyman

Or Ogopogo: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ogopogo

Kind of makes you wonder where he bought the thing at.

On the other hand, maybe it's a good thing it's such a ridiculous idea. Otherwise there'd probably be a lot of copycats (or copybunnies).

Agreed.

And for another retarded monster from mythology, I give you Vampire Pumpkins and/or Watermelons! Who's reminded of "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes" by this?

An interesting fact, angels can actually be considered on the list of strange mythological monsters. There are the Thrones, which are basically giant glowing wheels covered in eyes, the Seraphim which are basically angels with six wings that just happen to be literally ON FIRE, and the Cherubim which nothing like the cutesey little baby-things one associates with the name but instead have 4 faces (That of a man, ox eagle and lion) and the feet of a calf, allong with 4 wings.

Yeah, angels are weird.

From around here is a sea monster called Iku-Turso, but suppose most coastal nations/cultures have one.

Here's one old picture where it's depicted as some sort of a serpent

Here's a rather different, more recent depiction from Don Rosa

Firstoff, Cthulhu isn't really from mythology so much as the stories of HP Lovecraft, and secondly there are much weirder Lovecraft Monsters, like The Great Race of Yith, the Mi-Go, the Elder Things, The Dunwich Horror, the list goes on and on.

I love the Santa stories, to include the one about the demon butcher and the one where Satan is chained to Santa's back.

I say again. If Greeks can have Mythology based on books from Homer, then we can have American Mythology based off books from Lovecraft.

lovecraft's shit is Mythopoeia, not myth myths generally have a group of people who believe them to be true associated with them, and "retards on the internet" don't count as such a group

Actually, belief is the only thing that makes something a myth.
