My wife isn't into pop culture so I alway's have to refer to Courntey Love as the "the woman that's married to the musician that blew his head off" or Dave as " the drummer in the band that the guy who blew his head off" :/

I wish todays Musicians would be as bold as Kurt... I really don't think people would really give a damn about him today if he was still alive, but that's my opinion. But then Again I just think most bands from the NW suck... Not that's not true, I think all bands from the northwest suck. Especally from Portland, Ore. (I wish the Dandy Warhols would fucking kill themselves, Same thing w/ everyone in Everclear).
Wait, Calvin Johnson is cool, and so is Dub-Narcotic Sound system...

But yeah, I do feel old, I remember my senior year, a guy in my Physics class had a brother who knew someone, and he was faxed a copy of the sucide note. This kid in my class took it and made 50 t-shirts w/ Cobains face on the fron, and the note on the back. sold them for $25 ea., It was wierd seeing people who you KNOW didn't listen to Nirvana wearing these shirts. I also remember my folks worrying about if I was upset, I DIDN'T EVEN LIKE NIRVANNA!
But yeah, old, that's how I feel...
Thanks from bring it up Proto, shit I have my 10 year reunion in 2 months...

That explains why there is nivarna everywhere at the moment.

I was never really a "fan", I can play a few of their songs with my eyes shut. But quite a few girls in my school were really into them. I was pretty shocked when I heard he killed himself and the various conspiracies that followed. But I feel sorry for the kid the most, it can't have been fun having two junkies for parents.

Also what is it with courtney love at the moment? She is making a complete idiot of herself. I would be so embarrassed to have a mum who is getting arrested and showing her tits on tv.

But nevermind! Ten years has been a long time. Ten years ago I was having a great time. I want a time machine!

HOORAY!

I never really got Nirvana. I listened to them in junior high, because it was the thing to do. I also listened to Smashing Pumpkins and that "Da Da Da" song from the old Jetta commercials. But yeah, I really don't like them, and I don't see Kurt Cobain as anything special.

Someone has to explain it to me.

I don't actually think that he was that much of a musician, but one thing that can be said is some of his lyrics were pretty heartfelt.

"The finest day that I ever had
Was when I learned to cry on command
Love myself better then you
I know it's wrong so what should I do"

But not actually thinking about it I think they were just a band that changed the pace and type of music. Remember soundgarden, pearl jam? All those bands brought the grunge era, the end of the 80s rock like guns n' roses. Unfortunately grunge lasted far too long and after it had finished we had brit pop. Yuk Yuk! Hopefully now with bands like The Darkness, things are looking up!

Like 'em or not, they were a very influential band.

And the real point behind my post was that ten years went by in the blink of an eye.

Just imagine in another ten years you'll post on here and say:

"that ten years went by in the blink of an eye."

Then I can laugh and say well at least I'm only 33. :/ Thats scary I could have kids and stuff in ten years....

I hate nirvana with the passion of a 1000 christs. The only reason I could sort of respect them is because Steve Albini produced some of their stuff.

The only thing that i apperciated about Nirvana, is that they said the Pixies were influencial of them, and I think more people know about them today because of that.

Layne Staley died aout 2 years ago, I liked Alice in Chains over anything Nirvana did, i saw them in 93', and they were awesome.

Never bemoan your age within earshot or viewing of someone older than you. What, you're all in your teens or 20s. I'd gladly switch places with any of you just to have the extra time you've been afforded because of the accident of your birthdates.

There was this girl who hung out in the art wing at my highschool all the time. It was like she somehow managed to have 8 periods of art a day. She was younger than me and was always wearing a Kurt T-Shirt and had all kinds of Nirvana patches/pins/stickers on her messenger bag.

I used to walk by her and cough "hesdeadgetoverit."

That saound like a nasty cough. You might wanna take something for an illness that makes you blurt out stuff. Wait...is that turrets?

Anyways, Kobain is dead and no one cares. Though Proto makes a good point. I actually saw a guy named Justin the other day of whom I had hung out with when Kurt died...and when I mentioned that we hadn't hung out in 10 years....I swear I saw a tear. A tear of age.
