Growing up in Indiana, playing in the snow encompassed a significant portion of the winter months. Because these activities were taken so seriously, my father invested in a sled similar to the TORPEDO PT BLASTER SLED. It wasn't as colorful, but man did that thing move. (It had a steering wheel)
Every time we'd go to the park to hit the hills, all the children would envy his sled. They would ask me to ask my father if they could give it a try. I would say, "No. You'll break it. It cost more than your life."
Seriously. I would say that.
During the summer months he hung it way up high on the beams in the garage so we wouldn't play with it. We ended up breaking the seat cushion off. For a couple years after that you couldn't sit down as it was just a frame. It hurt like a motherfucker when it jarred your ass, but it was still fun.
A couple years later we broke off the front ski while in tow of a BMX going down the alley and hitting garbage cans from the sled with a baseball bat.
My dad still beats me when he sees me for what I did to his sled.

Awesome piece Rog. Thanks for the memory.
