Although I'm not big on war novels, every once in a while there is someone who has the experience of war along with the actual ability to write such as:
Slaughterhouse Five
Catch-22
All Quiet On The Western Front
Platoon Leader
This novel by Donald Pfarrer is of that kind. A great novel in it's own right, even if one doesn't appreciate the subject matter. Here's a link to a review:
