In that it is a printed literary work, sure, it is a book. I'm not trying to be a scholarly douche, I'm just pointing out that it's not a common
novel as some people are assuming around the release of the film. I heard a couple of local reporters bantering that it was based on a comic book.
If Noodles expects a well constructed novel, he will be disappointed. That's all.
