Odd question but does anyone know what type of adhesive you'd use to attach aluminium to steel?
I was just going to use a hot glue gun but I don't think it'd be sticky enough. The aluminium doesn't need to take much weight but a strong bond would be preferable.

Welding, riveting or bolting aren't suitable due to the shape of the metals being bonded.

That and the fact that it's rather hard to weld aluminum. It conducts heat very well and will warp and melt. But I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir here.

Branded adhesives won't do me much good as we don't get the same kind of stuff on this side of the pond. Are the ones you're describing just general purpose epoxies?

I have lived in one of englands largest cities all my life and have never heard of any of those shops ( except asda/walmart, but they dont sell that.

i feel you need a trip to maplin, they probably gonna have a product as good as any and have some experience of it too, not like the spotty kid at the checkout of a large store.

It's the slut child of walmart, Asda.
its walmart really but no one would shop there if it was called that.
most british people hate america and its policies, on tv you just come across as greedy bullies willing to do anything to retain the title of the worlds most powerful nation. ( i no longer watch tv )
I take people on an individual basis, but in situations where thats not possible you judge on what you see, and what most of the worlds population see is America the selfish backstabbing cunt with us as your accomplice.
Just being honest. !

That's pretty accurate. And I don't have a problem with that. When the shit really hits the fan, I'll be dead anyway. All aboard the consumer bus!

dont get me wrong, its pretty imature to hate a nation because of its governments policies, its just when the population in question as a whole seems to have no control over its government, (which has basically become a contest of wealth and lies, conspiracy and nothing to to with real choice, etc) and now the same thing is happening here how can good innocent free people embrace it.
the american nation is probably the most hated thing on the planet right now with us at number two.
bin laden wouldnt make the top ten. !

Ps: i ate a Asda donut today and i'd still go for maplin.

Wii remotes need special plastic glue I figure.

Now, is this aluminium to steel job for Warhammer or your PC?

When I glue together the aluminum pnuematic piston liners into the steel outer housing of the $30,000 factory robots I work on all day I always use two-part epoxy. The thing about epoxy is that its all the same. The difference between brands is negligible and the only thing that separates the products into "grades" is the dilution of the reactant. Generally the longer they claim it takes for the epoxy to set, the higher the strength will be since the polymer strands will have more time to "grow".
Remember to sand the steel with 80 grit and clean the aluminum with acetone or paint thinner since theres always a layer of oxide on aluminum from the air.

But then what the hell would I know.

Hey, dude, if you want aluminum and steel to bond together, just tell aluminum that steel wants to buy him a drink but is worried about how aluminum will react. Then aluminum will open up and buy steel a drink as a sign of approval, and then they'll bond together in no time!
