Most ORIGINAL games?

I always thought Rampart was pretty original. Does anyone else know of any building/destroying what the other person built games?

Can Final Fantasy be classed as Original?
It was one of the first RPG's which gave you quite a large area to explore etc. and had good visuals, but I'm not sure if it was sooo new.... hmmm

I have more of a problem with Mario than Sonic because Sonic isn't as 'in your face', in the respect that you don't see it on a poster, or TV etc. nearly every week...

Final Fantasy was not original considering it's just a basic RPG. Maybe original for a only NES gamer (although Dragon Warrior was out already) back then but not if you played PCs.

What about tetris being an original game? Who knew putting different shaped boxes to fit in a line could be so addicting, heh.

Yeah, but I never understood how the original tetris worked... It's meant to be like an ancient russian game, and I always think, did they have like a panel which the pieces slid down, or did the person pick where the block landed?
Confusing 'tis... I'm gonna have to look it up, I guess :S

All information is quoted directly from the Xbox game manual.

The Tetrions

“There are many theories as to the origin of the Tetrions. The simple truth is that the Tetrions are the only evidence of a long since forgotten space-faring species. Tetrions are Gateways to planets orbiting distant stars. They can only be opened by an intelligent species because it works only for those who unlock the secrets of the falling Blocks. We have called the gate opening activity Tetris. And while it is the key to connecting us to distant worlds, Tetris has been found to be very addictive by all intelligent species.”

The Minos

“The Minos are a species found on the planet called Hadar 4. They are a robust mechanical species. It is possible that they were first built by organics, as is the case with most mechanics. Minos are intelligent and have just unlocked the secrets of the Tetrions. They now know that manipulating the Blocks in a certain way will turn a Tetrion into an interstellar transportation device. The Tetrions will soon turn out to be the key to the survival of the Minos.”

The Mission

“The mission is to evacuate the Minos on Hadar 4 to six other planets that have been identified as suitable for terraforming. Mino scientists have discovered that their star (Hadar) has become unstable and as a result the surface of Hadar 4 will reach 5000 kelvins, which is well past the maximum operating temperature of the Minos. The best Mino Tetris players have been identified as the gate openers. Six Tetrinauts will be sent to the planets to open the Tetrion gates from the other side to facilitate the exodus.

i was just gooooooooooooooooooogling it, and it says nothing about Ancient Russia, but it wa sinvented in Russia, s I don't know where I picked up the 'Ancient' part. Stupid BBC documentaries - lead me astray

Basically you get these tetris like pieces and you have to build a complete wall around your castle within a time period, then place cannons. The bigger your castle, the more cannons you get. This is followed by a round of shooting the crap out of the castles the person/people you're playing with built, and then you get to build again. You can also capture other castles and make them a part of your kingdom or whatever. This goes on until it's impossible for someone to rebuild or they can't rebuild a complete wall around a single castle in the limited amount of time. It didn't really feel like an RTS to me. It felt like destiny.

My friend used to seriously rape my ass in Rampart back in my first high school year :/

But yeah, Rampart is entertaining as hell.
