Should I stay just friends?

Well I've know this lad since I was 18 (so four years), we are really good friends. However the other night "stuff happened". The question is should we stay just friends or go for something else?

Right now, you've complicated the friendship. I think it's important for you to talk to him, and figure out how he feels, and how you feel. A great intimate relationship is one where you can have a friend in the other person, and you already have that with him. So the only change would be adding intimacy to the friendship, and it's up to both of you to decide how you feel about doing that.

Oh, and cheers to you for knowing when to call it quits. I have to give credit to someone who can say something didn't feel right, and wanting something sexual to also be something special.

Well I talked to him online last night and he said all this stuff about blocking off his emotions so that he's completely focused and unbiased about things.

I got a bit shitty and said "look you can just say it was a mistake and you don't like me that way, you don't have to give me all this philosophy shit.."

Of course he denies that he thinks it was a mistake and basically I'm sitting here confused and feeling a bit hurt. We talked earlier but it was just computer crap.

From what I can work out he doesn't want to let people get close to him and that I rocked the boat in his perfect world.

I think men have the ability to block their emotions. I've pretty much shut myself out a few times and sometimes I can detach my emotions from a situation except this time they were there. I think I'll be fine in a few days, just feel a bit hurt because I got a gimpse at happiness.

I've been hurt alot over the years but that hasn't stopped me from letting people get close. I don't let people get as close as they used to an I'm selective in who they are. I think its annoyed him because I got under his skin. Not only did he get to my emotional level but I got to his.

On a related note, I once saw a TV show in which the cast recreated an emergency call from a hotel janitor who found a man that had inadvertently gotten his Man's Best Friend stuck in a jacuzzi jet. How? I don't know. Still, the ambulance crew stopped laughing long enough to remove the man.
