By presenting a choking hazard, I think ANY balloon would be more of a viable threat than the case-hardened metal globs that the people of Toledo weld to tangs and sell to souvenir hounds. Don't get me wrong, I love the city of Toledo, Spain, and I even have a leaf from a Mozarabic antiphon commissioned by one of the founding fathers of the Spanish Inquisition who had his bishopric there. I've just never seen their metallurgical prowess taken seriously until after swords had become a cultural artifact, and even then their co-opting of Moorish blade art put form way before function.
