Yeah, you should, it's probably the best series ever.
I hope Thief 4 has a dynamic awareness level for guards where they don't just forget that they saw you if you get caught but then run away and hide again. They could also get increasingly suspicious the more noise you make, and at some point realize that the thing hurling pots and wine bottles around in the other room isn't just a large, obnoxious rat. This is one reason I like playing the Spy in TF2 so much; if you do enough damage, people get paranoid, and start to realize and look out for unseen threats. In turn, that makes it about twice as satisfying when you outwit them anyway and commit rape upon the enemy ranks. It's really the ultimate stealth game. Or would be if Valve would fix backstab detection, goddamnit
One thing I liked in Thief 3 was that unarmed NPCs would run and find a guard to clean your clock if they saw you, wheras in the other games they'd pretty much run through the mansion waving their arms and hollering while the sentries stood around staring at walls and muttering about how much they hate stale bread.
