cleveland has some cool shit if you know where to look.

They did (do?) monkey-head transplants at Case Western. There's a kickass toy store somewhere in the suburbs...can't remember exactly where but it is stuffed from floor to ceiling with every sort of vintage toy imaginable, complete with a giant card-catalog thing from an old library whose drawers are crammed with crackerjack toys and stuff like that. There's a really good bookstore that used to be a Twinkie factory and still has unfluffed twinkie filling in pipes on the walls.

Last time I was there was a pilgrimage to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in '04 to see the Ramones display case there...wanted to take a picture by it only to find that they'd just instituted some absolutely-no-photography thing and confiscated all cameras at the door. >:

As many times as I have been to Cleveland I've never been to the rock and roll hall of fame. Planning a trip there soon though.

10,000V- I don't know if it's still this way, but look into buying a membership instead of tickets. You get two free admissions and a t-shirt for about the same as two admissions would cost otherwise. Admission was an arm and a leg when I went.

Also, they were checking bags for cameras and phones with cameras at the door. If you have one, they make you stick it in a locker at the coat check and they make you pay for it, so bring cash.

Go through the basement/ground floor exhibits before you take the escalators. Once you're at the top, the only way back down is through the gift shop and getting back to the lower level displays is a pain in the ass. Unless they've dramatically changed things.

yes kitsa, merch is great! being a girl in heavy metal makes me an excellent sales person and i get tipped very well just for smiling and knowing what the hell i'm talking about. i'll never be as awesome as vega, i don't have the artistic skills to make logos or anything, but being a good salesperson certainly counts for something!

A minivan stopped short on a major roadway, visibility was shit and my two youngest were fighting in the back seat. Fortunately, I had a split second to slam on my brakes, and even though I skidded, I took away significant momentum.

As I said, we were fortunate.

My eldest, in the passenger seat looked at me, deadpan, stating "Dad, you hit that guy." to which I responded - "No shit."

After the cops, and the police report (I wasn't cited, even though it was my fault) I drove it 7 miles home (!). The alignment and steering were fine, even the left headlight worked. The radiator ... not so much.

I never worried about that too much, I just grew it out without any fuss. The Locks for Love people just flat-out love it when guys do it at all, because guys don't use hair products or try to donate dyed hair.

Further: When they cut it, they didn't take all of the hair. They just pull it together as much as possible, band it together and snip it off. I still had two inches left on my head afterward, there's nothing you can really do to maximize the hair they can harvest by cutting it in a certain way. All you need to do is suffer through a period of incredibly long hair, which is a pain in the ass. Especially when you have smartass friends who keep hiding bottles of Mane N Tail in your car

Actually it's a funny (sort of) story about that pose. On another forum a guy from Canada posted a picture of himself leaning on a canon in that exact way, we gave him shit and soon enough everyone was posting pictures of themselves leaning on canons in a coquettish style. I've got pictures of my ex doing it to another, older canon on that same castle. Hers is less sexy than mine though.
