Yes. Get Shadow Complex off of Live Arcade.

I just bought "Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman! What Did I Do to Deserve This?"

$20 for the 41 MB file.

And it's fucking awesome. I recommend the demo to anybody, anyway. It's quite addictive, but if you don't like to lose, please don't play.

Mario and Luigi 3. Most creative RPG I've ever played. One boss starts with you playing as Bowser, but if you suck the boss up, he ends up in your belly for a few turns, where you switch to Mario and Luigi. Totally optional strategy.

Actually, you can eat a lot of things in battle. There's a giant goomba that eats a giant lolipop, but if you use the inhale move, you steal the lolipop, get some health, and the goomba runs away crying. And that's just the Bowser half of the combat.

I decided to put Battlefield 1942 on my computer after stumbling upon my lost second disc. Ran into a couple of problems though, I have crosshairs and for some reason the AI is incredibly dumb. I think it might be due to running Vista but could also be the graphics card.

If you make any kind of sports ball and walk into the net in the "score!" level, you win. Baseball, football, whatever. Just walk in.

I liked the trick or treat one, because I gave the kids a rattlesnake :)

Goddamn executioner's mound in FFT. I hated this level. Always.

That was "that level" for me. Stopped playing after god knows how many tries. The game was just too slow, so on that map, I'd wait for my turn, and the screen would shut off because I hadn't pressed a button in so long.

SotN isn't really bad at all, but so far the only part that was interesting to me was the beginning where they made you kick Dracula's ass right away.

I'm only up to the Alchemy Lab, I think. I beat up some winged demon pterodactyl combo thing.

This. Okami. Persona 4. I think Yahtzee said Splosion Man is too long, too.

I remember playing the inverted castle and thinking "wow this is awesome!" But slowly, I started thinking "well...I'm kinda just backtracking through the entire game again with different bosses." Then I reached a point where I had my fill and wanted it to end.

I'd just want a little of the fat trimmed from the castle. You could leave the inverted castle, cause it really is cool, and I did like that.

Ugh, Symphony of the Night took me forever to beat. It didn't help how I'd make the wrong turn, go off the path a LITTLE, and there'd be no indication of where the hell you needed to go from there. I spent hours wandering around, trying to find the next trigger.

You should get Shadow Complex. It's a lot like the Metroid-vania games, but it includes a minimap with a line that shows you exactly where to go. That way, you don't have to explore or doing anything other than go directly to each boss and finish the game in like an hour.

And then you can come back here and talk about how you're a gaybo who has crappy gaming opinions.

Guitar Woman

Speaking of complaining, the only thing I actually hate about SotN for you butt pirates to get riled up about is how items keep falling from candles and replacing the weapon I'm using.

If it was a tiny bit shorter, I'd have loved it.

Iīd actually prefer it if those games were longer. Sure, Sotn IS among the longest of those but hell, Iīd play through a third castle with more enemies and items anytime :)

Shadow Complex on the other hand does well in being pretty short since the level design and gameplay are good but rather monotonous after a while (no items or stats, boo).

Some games reach a point where they feel like a chore and become less interesting but keep going anyways. I'd rather a short but amazing game that impresses me consistently than a long game with good stuff spread far apart and padded out for the sake of making the game long.

See, I hate when really fun games are short. Even if they're not really short, they FEEL short because of how much fun I had playing it. Been working on perfecting puzzles in Scribbleynauts. Also, Canabault, which is a neat flash game kinda like Mirror's Edge, if it was just running, and you only have one button. And you can run on walls. Actually,I guess it's not really like Mirror's Edge...

What mostly pisses me off about it though is anytime I contact Microsoft about the problems they give me the same 3 "solutions" that dont work over and over again.

"It must be a corrupted file. Delete all content regarding that game from your HD then reinstall"

When that doesnt work...

"Format your entire HD and then recover your gamertag. Download it again."

When that doesnt work..

"It must be a DRM issue. Go online and use our DRM tool."

DRM tool tells me its the same damn box and already has a license to download whatever it is Im trying to download. So when that doesnt work...

"It must be a corrupted file. Delete all content regarding that game from your HD then reinstall"

Really? That didnt work the first 50 times what is going to make it work now? :rolleyes

STALKER again. Thinking of downloading the LURK overhaul, which either came out very recently or is coming out very soon. http://getoutofherelurker.blogspot.com/

I don't think it's mandatory, though. The only thing in the vanilla game that really bothers me anymore is the way enemy respawns work. Dead mutants and Stalkers just pop up in the same place they originally started every time I leave the level, so when I go through an area again I know exactly what's going to happen and can outsmart them without even working at it. Especially if it's on the way to somewhere I visit a lot for ammo and shit, like the trainyard you have to fight through before you get to Yantar.

Places I never go still surprise me sometimes, though. I was rolling around at Agroprom to assassinate some guy for the Bartender and I stopped into the Neutral stronghold (at the Military complex you have to defend/escape from early in the game), which was populated at this point by about 4 rookie Stalkers and one guy who dressed like he knew what he was doing. I traded with them and dined on summer sausage and listened to guitar songs and shit, then left down the stairs to continue on my way. Then I see a cloaked bloodsucker wandering around in the courtyard of the base, and I go SHIT SHIT RUN AWAY, sprint up the stairs, and ready my shotgun. One of the rookies was like, "God damn negro pack that shit in you gon' hurt someone" and while he was complaining at me the bloodsucker ran up the stairs, uncloaked, and they all started shitting themselves.

I immediately shot him in the face and knocked him directly back to the ground floor. :picklehat

Don't you tell me my business again, noob.

Call of Pripyat's coming out pretty soon too, right? I'm getting it. I love Stalker so much that I might even pay for it.

Last time I played it, it was riddled with bugs, so I don´t think that such a game would ever see a release on a console (or better it shouldn´t). Not that it´s a bad game, it´s just so much less than it could have been. But I hear, there´s a mod for that by now. Blowouts, Vehicles, balanced Combat, Fatigue, Sleep, functioning factions...all things that should have been there from the beginning. A friggin´ Life-in-the-zone simulation.

BUT I finished the game, not that anyone thinks, I´m just ranting because I like the sound of my own typing :D ...and I bought Clear Sky...not sure, it was a good choice.

Earthbound is hard as fuck, dude, especially in the beginning when the Sharks gang up on you and you have jack shit for Psi powers.

When you get Paula it gets way easier because she deals massive Psi damage, but she gets kidnapped for about two hours of gametime at one point by jerks, and Jeff is only useful passively by fixing items and showing enemy weaknesses and shit. So you get buttfucked.

At the final dungeon in Mario and Luigi 3. Holy crap, what a fantastic game. Great writing, clever gameplay, awesome graphics. The first few hours have a little too many minigames, but they almost never show up once you get the ability to leave and reenter Bowser's belly.

Other than that, I have zero complaints about it. Also, Fawful as the main villain? Awesome.

EDIT: Beat it. The last dungeon took 4 hours, but man, it was awesome. And an amazing final fight. Definitely in my top five favorite RPGs.

Every Zelda and Metroid game and almost every game with stats and upgradable weapons?

Only Zelda that comes to mind is Wind Waker, if only because you lose the sword. But most games "with stats and upgradable weapons" (and Metroid) scale the difficulty so that you're consistently challenged so that fighting Boss 1 at level 5 will be as hard as fighting boss 8 at level fourty.

At least, that's the ideal difficulty curve. And I don't think Metroid's ever harder in the beginning.

It's banned now. It was on the shelves for a couple weeks, as I understand it.

Funny story more or less. Since you arenīt allowed to show swastikas in videogames over here (theyīre not considered to be "Art" like movies), they removed them from the game. So far so good. But with the newer Wolfensteins, they also removed the fact that youīre fighting Nazis altogether. In the german Version of Wolfenstein you fight...you guessed it - "The Wolfpack", some obscure military regime or something like that. All the Naziguys are called Wölfe (Wolfs) and Deathshead (which is still a darn stupid play on words for Totenkopf which simply means Skull) is the Leitwolf, the Packleader so to speak.

At least thatīs what I read, I never played the german versions of those games (the smart german videogamer is not only more or less fluent in english but also knows where to get his imports from).

Concerning the ban...well, someone at Activision forgot to remove one of the swastikas in one level and there you go - Activision pulled it from the market and isnīt sure theyīll invest the time and money to produce ANOTHER cut version of the game. And thatīs the story of why you canīt buy Wolfenstein 2009 in Germany.

While Iīm at it. Of course it is extremely funny for a german to hear the feeble attempts of WW2-Movie-America to sound all evil and german in videogames and stuff. But please. If you want to get someone to do something fast while speaking german...there are more words than "Schnell, Schnell!" to communicate that. :lol Noticed that again when one of those faceless troopers was controlling the truck B.J. was in.

"WHAT! Get out of sä truck! SCHNELL!" No, Mr. Nazigrunt, itīs not Schnell, itīs "sofort" ;)

Ah well, sorry for the slightly garbled post, itīs early and Iīm still tired.

In Freedom Force vs. The Third Reich, there are no swastikas, only iron crosses. They speak pretty much exactly the way you described, but since this is a game based on 40's comics, I'm guessing it was intentional.

I´m pretty sure that the guys who write the dialogue for the german troops know that it´s not really correct (at least I suppose they do) and for someone who doesn´t speak german or comes in contact with it very often, it probably sounds pretty appropriate, since Fiction-Nazis have nothing to do with real Nazis...as far as I know, there were no Dinosaur-Riders in the 40´s or Veiltech-powered Überweapons fired from titanic Airships. Also no Hellboy (a shame).

I also wouldn´t really want the voice-guys to speak 100% proper german since it´s far more hillarious this way, just watch the Technoviking-Video for example :D

As a friend of mine once said: "Wow, the Americans must really REALLY be afraid of us if they think we can do THAT! *points to the screen showing some Nazi-Scientists building Mutants or Rayguns*"

And yes. Post-1940´s-Germany is a peaceful democracy. A democracy where every child at the age of 9 learns how to tear a rift into reality and summon forth the hellish servants of the Netherworld to do their bidding! Also, we got Rayguns that shoot darkness. Of course.

It's on the PSN in general. So you can access the store from your PSP, from the PS3 or even from the PC with Media Go.

When you buy it from your ps3, maybe it's because its more convenient since you're already browsing for stuff, and because its simple to just transfer the content over.

He means to say "Can I play PSP games on my PS3?" Logically, there would be no reason why they couldn't.

They're putting PS2 games on relatively soon.

Microshock

Maybe. I really don't care if they do, i'd hope they do more ports like the GOW stuff so it's in semi-HD and has trophies

I don't care about them if they're in the game but if they're not, i dont really want to play it.

PC games, i don't give a shit about achievements on that, but on the PS3 i do for some reason

That first statement doesn't even make sense. "I don't care if my pizza has pepperoni on it, but I won't eat it unless it does."

And yeah, it's shocking that you only care about something on the PS3.

Listen, I'll explain to you very simply.

If trophies are not in the game, I don't really feel like playing it.
However, if trophies are in the game, it doesnt make the game automatically awesome, it just means it'll be one of the choices, that's why I didnt get Terminator Salvation when it has 10 gold trophies for each level you beat

Yea, listen to my man. Only bitches play games for fun. Real men such as ourselves only play games so we can show our fellow Sony Soldiers how awesome we are. That's why videogames were invented.

Zomboid
Oct 3rd, 2009, 03:17 AM
Ah, yes, that makes perfect sense! I totally dismiss games on the 360 if I don't think the achievements sound cool enough. After all, why would you want to pay over 60 bucks for a video game if not to show off your lame little sig graphic?

kahljorn

Microshock, what if the game didn't have any of your precious trophies, but inside the game the goal was to collect or steal trophies.

would you consider playing it then?

Maybe it's because when trophies are in the game, I have more incentive to play thru it more than once or just thru a particular mode and may be willing to do more with the game which i wouldnt usually do

How so? Games from 2 years ago that don't have trophies are fine to me, I'll play them if theyre good games and trophies dont matter there because they came before the trophy system was ever implemented.

But when games like Saints Row 2 come out without trophies and then they refuse to patch it even after having the community on their forums ask for it repeatedly and they dont do it, i dont feel like playing the game.

really fun, actually

most of the systems work intelligently and are designed intelligently. there's also some neat tech in there.

plus any game with ragdoll is good, and any game that lets me clothesline people with a sledgehammer is great.

*oh, an observation I made in the region chat today:
- This is the only game on the market that lets you flip off a chicken
- Why is this feature not on the box
- I don't know what's better - that you can flip off chickens, or that it legitimately upsets them

FILL 'ER UP

http://www.i-mockery.com/chojin/fe_oilville.jpg

oilville, near the auctioneer. mounts in this game are permanent, so people have to leave them outdoors. there's also built-in teamspeak, so it's oddly immersive when your group rolls up on a bandit camp and someone's like "okay, let's ditch the horses back here where they won't be seen"

there are also plenty of motorized vehicles, but horses are cheap and there is a tremendous noob surplus at launch

none of my good pictures came out :< me and this guy were doing prone TACTICAL ESPIONAGE ACTION in a bar while people were trying to drink

wait you mean to tell me that THAT'S how MMOs work? i had no idea that a basic concept like "if you play longer you're probably BETTER AT THE GAME THAN SOMEONE WHO HASN'T BECAUSE YOU HAVE MORE EXPERIENCE" only applied to MMOs

I recently came to terms with the fact that TF2 isn't fun anymore and uninstalled it :<

I switched to playing Halo PC with mexicans, which I always liked better anyway. I also am one billion times better than when I last played, because TF2 is hard as balls and 3 years of getting cheapshotted by scouts and soldiers has made me into a man.

Well, it sure as shit makes it a lot harder for people who don't have the time to devote to it like others, so it's not entirely based on who spends the most damn time hulking out your character. People learn how to play better at their own pace, but with MMOs, it's just who spends the most time playing it.
