dudeee last night i was watching the '82 amityville horror flick. seriously the worst movie ever. we didn't even finish. :( is the whole series that crappy?
The first one ('79) was decent and followed the "true" story in the book. Just how true the events are all in who you listen to, but it was an enjoyable movie and I imagine you could easily sit through the entire film. There was a cool documentary where they question the validity of the events, where George Lutz (owner during the time of the events) was ticked at the sequels. The '05 remake with Ryan Reynolds was horrible, but I do suggest watching the original. As for any one after the second I haven't bothered with.

I dig the era, and it's exactly every fantasy I've ever had about it - the fast-talking business-y types are awesome. Paul Newman, Tim Robbins, Jennifer Jason Leigh, etc. All amazing in this movie. And how could you not love the extruded plastic dingus?
I have the feeling you might be disappointed with Miller's Crossing, not that I believe it's not good. I dunno. Just seems like it gets washed away by the Untouchables and the Godfather series.

Meh. Far better than Expendables, but still kinda lame. The first half hour was awesome, but then they tried to put way too much plot in this gorefest and it became boring as hell.

Interesting.
I watched three movies today.
Where the Wild Things Are...I haven't read the book since I was like 3, but I'm fairly sure they took some liberties. It was ok I guess, although I couldn't shake the feeling that I was looking at a bunch of etsy listing photos in movie format. I'm not sure why.
Homegrown...not quite the average stoner comedy (can it be, with John Lithgow? How weird is it to hear John Lithgow talk about pot?) Parts were very funny and entertaining. Other parts contained fairly big plotholes and things that plain didn't make a lot of sense. I'm not sure I buy Jon Bon Jovi as a drug dealer, either. It kind of unexpectedly went dark...although not as dark as a film like Burn After Reading...and then brightened up again. I don't know. Kind of meh.
After.Life was all kinds of stupid. And I mean ALL kinds. You had Christina Ricci with her big lollipop head and Justin Long running the gamut of emotions, from blank-faced grief to blank-faced grief. The movie was chock-full of those loud orchestral jump scares, but it was not at all scary. People have compared it to Our Town but it's more Sixth Sense meets Misery, without the better merits of either. And I got so fucking tired of the constant swirls of red down a white drain.
:maul :ART :ART :ART :ART :ART
Anyhow, if you want to see a whole lot of Christina Ricci's boobies, have I found a film for you.

Night of the Demons remake. It had decent looking demons and it took place on Halloween night, so I'm happy. :halloween2
The scene that made the whole movie for me though happened in the first five minutes by two stoners:
Two guys are up on a second ledge balcony checking out all of the trick-or-treaters' costumes, when they spot an older teen without a costume and two pillowcases full of candy. The teen then proceeds to steal a little kid's candy bucket. One of the guys then pulls out a paintball gun and shoots the punk in the back. The punk goes down and spills all of the candy on the ground, which quickly gets scooped up by the little kids around him.
The guy with the paintball gun then runs downstairs and walks up to the punk while constantly saying "No Costume, No Candy!", until finally when he's right next to the punk he screams with a rage of a person who's had one too many Halloween candies taken from them "No Costume, No Candy, Mother Fucker!" and shoots him several more times at point-blank range. :halloween2

I saw a movie called Helen today. Ashley Judd played a woman with depression and suicidal ideation. The movie was basically about how her behavior alienated husband #2 and her teenage daughter. It was okay, but very predictable (especially when the clone of Angelina Jolie from Girl, Interrupted made her appearance). It was also one of those cold, dreary, artsy pieces where the surroundings were meant to echo the depression and so on. Apparently depression is contagious, because I was battling it after 2 hours of minimalist gray cinderblock rooms and bleak gray beaches.

I read an article that said these newer 3d movies are giving people migraines because of "unnatural eye movements".
I just finished watching Youth In Revolt. It was okay. Justin Long was almost tolerable in this one, and Fred Willard high on shrooms is amusing. Michael Cera plays Michael Cera, as usual. He's a smartass intellectual wannabe with a miserable life...Jean Smart and Steve Buscemi do well as his divorced parents, with Zach Galifianakis as his mom's boyfriend. He's in love with an unattainable Francophile who listens to Gainsbourg (but pronounces it Gains-burg for some reason, despite the over-the top trilling and phlegmy Rs everywhere else) and would do anything to escape her religious parents' clutches.
Insert hijinks and an ex boyfriend who looks disturbingly like Fred from Scooby-Doo, blah blah blah, gets the girl in the end. But all of the pseudo-Indie shit, the 70s harvest gold interiors and shag carpeting and vinyls and Gainsbourg and all that stuff...I have a lot of trouble buying it as cool and novel. Maybe because I refuse to admit that my parents were cool.

Maybe they hype ruined it for me.

MST3K Wild Wild World of Batwoman AKA "She was a Hippie Vampire". Man that movie was bad. Several times during the show Tom Servo said "Kill Me" he even screamed for the movie to end. It's #29 on IMDB's bottom 100. Incidentally number one and two are "Superbabies: Baby Geniuses 2" and "Manos: the Hands of Fate" respectively.

What I learned from Tron Legacy:
1) I can't wait for the future where we all wear sexy body suits. Hot damn.
2) Whoever wrote the lines for this movie should be fired and kept away from any kind of writing mechanism for the rest of his life. Jesus Christ.
3) I would do horrible things to Olivia Wilde even if her bangs were horribly crooked. The way she reacted to every line in the movie like it was the most fascinating thing she ever heard just made it even better.
At first I thought the movie would be amazing (the whole "ISOs" concept was pretty neat) but the plot just reverts back to stupid action mush, the characters have some awful lines, and the action scenes got a little confusing in a few spots cause 90% of the screen is black.
It could be worse, but it could be way better. Oh, and the digital Jeff Bridges was really impressive if you didn't focus on him for too long.

Friday the 13th ( The remake;'09) - For everyone that saw the first "Friday the 13th" dont kill me for saying this but I never saw the 1st one. I hope the first one was really good because the remake kind of sucked. It was kind of the same as any other scary movie. Same Ole cliches; Rowdy college kids show up to woods for a camping trip or whatever. Overly sexual couple are one of the first too die, Soon after the only black guy in the film dies next for trying to act so tough [ Puts up a good fight though. ] Boy and his cautious girlfriend face off killer. Boy ends up getting killed off and girl runs off. Seems like she's the only one out of rowdy bunch to survive but later on at the end, Suprise ! Killer pops out of no where and kills her. Turns out he's not dead after all and here comes a sequel.
Sorry. I tend to babble and something tells me I watch too much television.
Renata ( spanish movie ) - I just love a good foreign movie with subtitles. Romance movie and quite a tear jerker.
Drag Me To Hell - Hate it, Hate it, Hate it. I thought this movie would be really good and scary but watching the first few minutes of it I wanted to claw my eyes out. I was expecting a Horror film, not a Horror comedy. I think I'm the only one who hated this film because everyone seemed to just love it. Maybe because I absolutley hate Horror comedys? Yea.

Anyway, back to topic. Just watched Buried and Black Swan. Buried was a little dissapointing after hearing so much praise for the film, but it had me on the edge of my seat most of the time. Ryan Reynolds managed to be a lot less Ryan Reynolds than usual, so I didn't have the urge to carve my own flesh. Decent movie, which will be erased from my memory within a month.
Black Swan was another letdown. I expected so much after I saw the trailer and especially after the phenomenal "The Wrestler", but all I got was some watered down "The Tenant". I didn't really care for the characters, so even the horror parts didn't do nothing for me. I didn't exactly hate the movie, but it was just a big MEH. Maybe i'll see it again some time, if I just wasn't in the right mood for the film or some shit.

A Night at the Opera is my absolute favorite Marx Brothers movie.
Watched Arsenic and Old Lace; another classic favorite of mine.

Just got back from seeing Gulliver's Travels.
It's a very standard Jack Black movie. Pretty much everything you think will happen does. There's no new ground broken there.

I guess I can't have a problem with it, because that's his whole thing, and there are funny parts. But I don't need a spoiler tag when I say that he saves the day with a big musical number because EVERYONE KNOWS IT WILL HAPPEN.

rebel without a cause -
had never seen it. disappointing. i don't get why so many people like it, or james dean.
jason and the argonauts -
again, had never seen it. harryhausen is great. the movie itself was so-so, but worth it for the animated skeletons alone. totally. i like when special effects took effort.
blue velvet -
oh my god, fuck david lynch. such great reviews, such awful films.
i think tonight we're watching the newest incarnation of metropolis.

I like Blue Velvet, Lost Highway, and Mulholland Drive. Eraserhead is the only movie too creepy for me to watch all the way through, which gets props from me. I don't like Dune and Inland Empire is just intellectual masturbation. Rabbits and Dumbland are great, though.

Despicable Me - Good for a kids cartoon. At least the story is somewhat original. (I think :( )
Devil - Only good if you are really bored and want to watch a total of 8 people interact.
The Other Guys - I laughed a couple of times.

I saw the Family Stone recently and it's pretty good. It's not overly chick-flicky and the family in the movie reminds me a lot of my own. So there ya go.

Last night,I watched the Resident Evil:Afterlife,I found the moive keep the tradition of the series Resident Evil–Hot Girls,Handsome Boy and Cool Action.Original director-writer Paul W.S. Anderson returns for this fourth installment in the science-fiction action series based on the popular videogames. Milla Jovovich is back as Alice, who has superhuman powers due to a favorable reaction to the T-virus that has turned most of the rest of humanity into zombie mutants. Alice storms the evil Umbrella Corporation’s headquarters in Tokyo with dozens of clones of herself in an attempt to take out Albert Wesker (Shawn Roberts), the head of Umbrella. Alice barely escapes with her life, but she is thankful that Wesker injected her with a T-virus cure that makes her human again. Alice takes off in a two-seater plane to find signs of life. Her first scenic stop is Alaska, where she is reunited with Claire Redfield (Ali Larter), who is suffering from amnesia. The two fly to Los Angeles and land on a high-rise prison roof downtown in an attempt to help some survivors that are flagging them down. Claire is surprised to find her brother, Chris (Wentworth Miller), inside. Together they fight the zombie mob pounding its way inside the complex and escape to the Arcadia—a ship transmitting a signal that promises safety for humans but is really a trap set by Wesker.

I finally got to see "The Hangover", the most over-hyped comedy since Superbad. At first I was afraid it was going to be wacky and awful like Dude Where's My Car, and then I was pleasantly surprised with how grounded the movie was in reality, for the most part. Until we get to the Mike Tyson and Chinese mafia scenes, then I completely lost interest.

Paranormal Activity, again because my mother hadn't seen it and wanted to.
It's even more stupid and horrible the second time around. The only suspense is waiting for the scary to happen. It never does.

I watched about 1/4 of Superbad before realising that I didn't find it funny so probably shouldn't waste my time.

metropolis -
i do prefer talkies, but this movie is great. i love the motions of the machine man witch lady
the samurai trilogy -
could have used more duels and less lady-whining, but i guess that was the point of the films anyway. i loved how much was shot outside, especially in the first one. also it's mifune so it's automatically good.
rosemary's baby -
much better than i expected. had never seen it before.

Devil - my buddy and I watched this last night for movie night. It was really bad, like, hilariously bad. He figured out the entire plot the first fifteen minutes in so we only stuck with it to see if he was right or not. and of course the ending was painfully weak, as it always is with m. night films.
Black Swan - I really hated it. I think it was sorta like scott pilgrim and I was just expecting too much going in. I only saw it as a huge waste of potential.
Hang over/super bad - agreeing with you guys, both were lame -- they all are these days though:(
I think the worst movie i've ever seen though has got to be Wanted. It was like they just threw in a bunch of cliched elements from ever other hollywood film and gave up. Morgan Freeman as the narrator, some ancient asian legacy, some secret messages that are hidden in cloth for the secret underground society that is saving the world and the typical father/son dynamic and then angelina jolie in leather... I can still complain about it and it's been years!

Yeah, I hated Wanted.
I don't know if I would have hated it more if it had stayed true to the comic (which it didn't) though, since I hated the comic too.

Its the one where they can CURVE/ARC a bullets trajectory by flicking their wrists while shooting a gun. I watched a video of the gameplay for the Wanted: videogame and the blindfire ability is like throwing a grenade but with bullets.
