Maybe that's the case. I'm not a Will Farrel fan at all, with Anchorman being the only other movie of his I actually liked. Surprisingly I really liked The Other Guys. Plus Eva Mendes is really hot so maybe that helped.

Good god. I'm pretty sure I didn't smile once during this crap. I love Robert Downey Jr, seriously, I would propably give him a blowjob if he asked me, but he was annoying as hell in this. And that Zack Galfifanfaiifas guy, oh boy. I wanted to beat his pudgy and hairy face with a crowbar. But that was propably the whole point of the character, so the jokes on me I guess.
So yeah, didn't like Due Date. At all.

To be honest, the movie wouldn't be all that special if Michael Caine wasn't in it. It tries to make a statement about the increase of gangs in Britain, I guess, but it quickly dissolves into a borderline exploitation movie. I enjoyed it all the same.

Just got "The Other Boleyn Girl" that came up in Netflix, but am hesitant to watch again. Mostly because I hate fictionalized accounts of Tudor history. Mostly anything of value gets taken out and replaced with OOOOH, PRETTY DRESSES. Although I did enjoy the whole depiction of Anne Boleyn's brother regularly buttraping his wife in The Tudors. That may have actually happened, considering how much she hated him.
Anyway.

The new Pirates of the Caribbean in 3D. It was alright, I guess. Really boring at times and some of the new characters were 2 dimensional as fuck and no amount of 3D effects didn't change that. On the other hand I really liked the mermaids and Black Beard was ok too.

"The Other Boleyn Girl". What a horrendous piece of shit that was, despite the best efforts of perfectly respectable actresses Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johannsen. If historical accuracy could cause injury, that movie would have a papercut.
Much as I figured it would be, they wadded up the majority of the actual history and tossed it aside to revel in playing Pretty Princess.

More like Aliens and Explosions. Thats all it was. I just watched it and I have already forgotten the majority of the movie. There were no characters I cared about and the shaky cam started to piss me off in the first 10 minutes. Yeah, it's a intense battle. We get it. I was in Niagara Falls over the weekend so I watched that imax movie (again, same movie they've been showing for 10+ years now). It was ok. It sort of glossed over a lot and, with the exception of the whole legend of the "Maid of the Mist" in the beginning (suicide in a canoe), they only focused on the people who went over the falls and survived. I'd have done the exact opposite, in order to persuade dipshits that it really isn't the greatest idea. The drop might feel awesome but then there are those rocks at the bottom, and the suffocation while you're waiting to be hauled in.
The funniest part for me was when they opened the doors to let us out and were trying to channel us past a giagantic wall of DVD copies to buy for some crazy amount and take home. They said we could use our ticket stubs for a small discount. I bet a lot of people do it, too.

@10K: Last time I went to see that IMAX movie was when I was going to school in Ithaca, like 2 hours away from the falls, and it was just something to do. They had a big gift shop, but not the NatGeo one that's there now. We exited through this weird brick building that had a couple more souvenir shops and this abandoned food court.
At the abandoned food court, I was intercepted by an Indian gentleman who wheedled us into eating something at his restaurant. For some reason, I actually agreed to this. My now-ex was asked to help him open the shutters of this food-court restaurant, and there was his entire family seemingly living in this little area behind the counter. And they all just sprang to work making naan and whatnot like they'd been waiting for this their whole lives.
It's the most uncomfortable meal I've ever eaten.

A then the multiple rampage montages towards the end where they just go around merc'ing fools.

Yesterday I watched Paul. You know, the Alien movie with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. It was watchable. There weren't that much laugh-out-loud moments, but it had kind of a charming nerdy feel to it. It's not nearly as good as Shaun Of The Dead or Hot Fuzz, though.

I've got his New York comedy show on DVD. I agree that it wasn't his best stuff. I generally don't like his standup because it's so recycled (you know you're going to hear the "if I weren't famous, this haircut would just mean mental illness" line, and so on).
I believe he's genuinely intelligent. I believe he's genuinely clever. I believe he's having a hard time finding elements of his comedy style that are relevant here. I mean, a lot of people in the UK can't stand him. So I think his reaction is to sort of become a caricature of himself, which is often sad and unfunny.
Anyway, don't want to overanalyze the man. I find him funny and I likes what I likes.

Just got back from Green Lantern. I only saw it because Ryan Reynolds is one of three actors I'd totally go gay for (the other two are Pierce Brosnan and Joseph Gordon-Lovett).
It wasn't the worst movie I ever saw. It's better than Daredevil, for certain. But then again, I think Thor looks shitty and don't even want to see it. I just wish Green Lantern had more action; it definitely reminded me of Iron Man where the whole damn thing was exposition until the end when the movie suddenly comes to a halt. I was so pumped for the fight and it was over before it even got heated up (and the award for subtle spoiler goes to...)
Also, the pacing was fucking weird. They'd dwell on some things forever but then WOOOP HAL'S FLYING. The scene where the ring calls him is literally:
"Well I was at my 11 year old nephew's birthday for 5 whole minutes. I'll just walk to my car and OH FUCK WHAT WHERE AM I GOING FUCK SHIT PISS".
Followed by more of Hal brooding infront of his babe. Then he gets into a fight in a parking lot and OH HEY I ACCIDENTALLY A GIANT FIST.
I'm just fucking sick of superhero movies. Can we go back to coming up with new ideas so we can stop milking old franchises?

also that movie is totally not deep. It's more like an action movie than anything else.

That's pretty spot on. Still no Grimlock. It seemed like they focused more on the humans again. There were still a few "Missing Transformers" scenes where they just go missing for 20 minutes of the movie and then are back.
Optimus Prime seems like he just runs on adrenaline.
He goes around kicking butt then starts losing. Then all of a sudden he's like "If I talk like a leader I fight better!" Then commences to kick butt again."
When he walks over with the shotgun though and blasts that guy had me :lol.

The original or the Nick Cage remake? Because I lost it during the bees scene in the remake and a bunch of dumb old fogies got mad at me because I laughed like a madman through the whole scene.
Not a new film for me, but the latest film I watched was David Cronenberg's film version of Naked Lunch. I originally saw it on a VHS cassette that I bought at a flea-market when I was twelve. This movie reinforces my lifelong decision to stick to my former list of countries I'd avoid like the damn plague. Zimbabwe is on the list. It's just one of those places that won't go well if you're not on the violent guy's side.

My buddies and I are having a movie night every week. Our first movie was The Thing.
That movie is waaaaay funnier than it wants to be. We were laughing the entire time. Really awkward editing and script. I'd probably be scared shitless if I was 8.

What's wrong with the editing? The Thing is very well edited and paced in my opinion. The special effects are very good also, and still manage to impress me (excluding the stop motion). Carpenter has also managed to capture the sense of isolation and tension you would expect. I love the movie, even without nostalgic glasses on.

Brides of Dracula. It's a direct sequel to Horror of Dracula, so Dracula is dead (meaning no Christopher Lee) and ninja Van Helsing is after a pretty boy vampire this time.
Fantastic film. :)

green lantern-
it's hardly the worthless pile of shit critics say it is, but it's generic as all hell
the cgi is fucking terrible
the way krona and parallax were used was a mistake
it's too short
not enough time spent on oa or with some of the central lanterns
the set up at the end was really weak
if warner is gonna go ahead with a sequel, it'd need a new writing team and they shouldn't interfere this time

kinda hoping that green lantern bombed in the writing dept so the sequel doesn't mess up the deadpool movie.

I was out the other day and my friends asked me if I wanted to see a movie with them. I said sure and they asked me what movie I wanted to go see. I told them, "The Green Hornet," as it was, of the two 'Green' movies, the obviously better choice. They told me it was already on DVD.
I felt dumb.
So we saw the Green Lantern and I was bored and definitely fell asleep for a stretch of it. Coming back home, I borrowed my bro's copy of the Green Hornet and was quite happy with it. Srsly, I loved the Green Hornet.
Also, saw American: The Bill Hicks Story.
I don't have to say anything - you already know you should watch it. It's a fantastically made doc.

Really wanted to watch the green hornet. Same thing happened to me, went to check online to see when movie times were and it was on dvd, only like 3 months in theaters.

Lots of awkward cuts and fades. Sometimes someone will say something to someone, and the camera will just hang on them...and nothing happens...oh right we need to fade out! Okay!
I remember one part where the black guy who wasn't on rollerblades was tied up with another dude, and the black guy is all "LET ME OUTTA HERE! COME ON!" Then it just cut right to the other guy being tied up by himself. Or another scene where one of the dudes asks the doctor something, and the doctor just says nothing, and there's a long pause of nothing, then the camera fades out. It leads to some unintentionally funny moments.
Lots of scenes were a lot funnier than they were supposed to be. I think the only time we jumped was when one dude's stomach grows a mouth and eats a guy's hands as he's about to use a defibrillator. But even after that we were laughing because that shit was so silly. :lol
