Well that's good, because I'm pretty sure you're building it for the final story mission, which obviously means one thing ;)
I think I might give Monster Hunter Tri a shot tonight. I was watching Gametrailers' review (their video reviews are fantastic) and supposedly it's not annoying like the PSP games or watered down with friend codes. Like, it has normal WiFi. So I'm kinda pumped to try it.

So, I just unlocked the Peace Walker missions that take place in Monster Hunter. It's not every day you fire a homing rocket launcher at a flying wyvern and mow down a pack of raptors with a machine gun. Sadly, my advanced technology isn't doing me any good; I keep getting clobbered. You win this time, fireballs.
I went back to playing Trauma Team too. That's a rock-solid game, save for investigating, which just gets longer and more tedious as you progress. Endoscopy's a lot more fun than it should be.

Do what I did. Go offline with your PS3, solves all your Bastard-Invader problems. They donīt want their bodies or souls back the really just want to piss you off, there really isnīt any other reason for that :lol
I terms of difficulty...meh, itīs not really that hard, you just gotta know what to do and which enemies to avoid at first...once you get to World 4-2, you can grind pretty easily if youīre interested in doing so.
Something that always helped me btw is this: While youīre playing Demon Souls, pretend that itīs Contra, you die in one hit, yeah, but itīs not that hard to play through Contra, once you know how to do it. Same thing with DS.

Every hit counts. Which is why I'm not bothering to increase my HP and defense anymore, and upping my MP and the Endurance and Luck stats instead. My attack is woefully low, I think because I started with the Archer.
This game demands multiple playthroughs with many characters.
OxBlood
Jun 11th, 2010, 07:15 AM
It does indeed. I didn´t bother with my HP either, in the second+ playtrough, most things just onehit you anyway, no matter what kind of armor you´re wearing (they fucked the AR-Mechanic up by making armor absorb a specific damage-total instead of a percentage of damage, so they become obsolete rather quickly).
Also, magic helps A LOT in this game, you can exploit...I think 2 or 3 bosses by using the cloud-spells, defeated at least 2 later-game bosses that way, takes about 10-15mins of waiting in a corner but at least it´s 100% safe...at least it was, don´t know if they patched it out by now.

I just died and lost 40,000+ souls after it took me ten minutes to whittle the Old Hero down to where it would have taken one more hit. The Thief Ring definitely helps against these dumb bosses.

So I got a new desktop today. I've been using my laptop for 5 years now, and while it was capable, it barely ran TF2 and L4D and the like. Now my new machine's 12x better. And since TF2's crowded again because it came out on Mac, I decided I'd pick it back up again.
Holy hell, 24" of TF2 in 1080p...I can't go back to my laptop any more for games. And yes, I am always behind with computers and the like, but I'm broke, and this is the nicest thing I'll own for a long time :(

My character is morbidly obese of course, and has a couple tats stating how hungry he is. He's decked out in a single tube sock on his left foot, stained underwear (poo stains on the ass and pee on the crotch) that I made, and no shirt. The actual gameplay is alright...it's just that they only give you 5 hours to play in the "action" zones. Just unlocked and beat the last story boss in Peace Walker. Actually getting it was a pain in the ass, but the fight was pretty cool. Ending was a bit of a downer. Nothing particularly sad happened, but the realization that Big Boss would become a villain, despite being way more likable and human than Solid Snake and not doing anything wrong or immoral, made a lot of the ending a bummer for me. Just a "well, we're fucked. So let's just fight the whole world anyways" type of feeling.
Also, TF2. Getting a little less rusty, and actually getting good with a lot of classes I didn't use when it first came out. And I freaking love Cart Push maps.

Isn't that the exact same thing that happened in MGS3? Are they copying endings now?
Phoenix Gamma
Jun 16th, 2010, 02:33 PM
Uh, MGS3's ending revolved around the whole deal with The Boss and the set-up with the government and stuff, and the big reveal of whose side she was really on.
Without giving away anything already covered in the other MGS games:
Peace Walker has two endings that are both canon and take place one after the other. The first is about Nuclear Deterrence and The Boss' backstory prior to MGS3. The second, which takes place a little after and is the final ending, is about Militaires Sans Frontiers becoming Outer Heaven, how it started as a group of soldiers who left their countries behind, and what motivated them to become the enemies in the original Metal Gear. It's not "OH WE'RE SUDDENLY EVIL NOW", it just kind of builds, and ends with MSF being a target for every major power in the world, and MSF deciding what it's gonna do from then on.
Basically, it's not like Star Wars Ep 3 where you see exactly how Anakin turns evil and becomes Darth Vader. You're left with Big Boss somewhere between the tormented guy from MGS3 and the bad guy from Metal Gear, so he's still really likable, but you see the road he's heading down, and that's a bummer.

Man, that game has NOT aged well. I mean, I know it's an NES game, but Mario and Punch Out and Mega Man are all still fun. This game? You gotta really claw your way through to get the upgrades that allow you to start enjoying the game, and then they get taken away in the abysmal dungeon stages, which are just plain unfair (FUCK YOU EGGPLANT WIZARDS). Not to mention, the game's glitchy as hell.
Maybe I'll play Sin and Punishment 2 instead. Kid Icarus Uprising looks a lot more like that. But I'm halfway through this game now, so I might as well finish.

I loved RPG-Maker :)
Had it on the PC ages ago I think, a lot of fun writing stupid villagers and kick-ass attacks and spells.
My favorite is still my ultimate Melee-Technique "Nuclear Fist" :lol...sadly I never found a geiger-counter sound that was loud enough to be played in the background while doing that thing :D
Which reminds me of one thing about RPGs in particular: The voice-actors never get this one thing right. If you do an awesome uber-technique (why am I saying uber and not über...ah well) you gotta SAY it properly. The Lezard VA in Valkyrie Profile 2 did a rather good job with his techs...but most VAs just plain suck at this. Just wanted to mention that cause it always bugs me.

I'm on the final level right now.
My beef with the game is that, on top of evil evil shit like Eggplant Wizards near the end of a dungeon (forcing you to backtrack and start over, or die and start over, meaning they successfully created a fate worse than death) and the bugs that steal your weapons permanently until you rebuy them, there's still really intrusive glitches, like enemies that just fall out of the sky in the first and third worlds, constantly. Or Reapers that fall off ledges, or watching the first boss walk through the wall on the left side only to reappear on the right, and the countless times I've watched an arrow go through an enemy.
It's bad enough that it's Nintendo Hard and that world 1 is the hardest part of the whole game, but constant glitches don't help. It's just really unpolished.
And I love portable games. It just more intimate, I think.

Naughty Bear is a vile piece of software. It's clearly marketed towards children, though all the game encourages you to do is curb stomp and eviscerate all of the other bears and it was given a T rating because it lacks blood. Wtf ESRB? Btw, the gameplay is quite horrible and the camera keeps getting stuck on things.
Singularity seems pretty cool so far, but it is very old school when it comes to FPS standards (no recharging health, minimal hud, etc.)
Metro 2003 went from bad to worse. The enemies take way too many bullets, there is far too little ammo, the level design is horrible and the gasmask thing is just annoying. I don't think I will finish this one.

Erm, anyway, playing a bit of Saboteur now and itīs suprisingly fun, even though its just another sandboxgame no one really needs.
Itīs especially funny to listen to the nazis. Some of them are obviously voiced by germans or people who can emulate german without an accent while some of them are clearly american and they are mixed up all over the place...a lot of fun to listen to :lol
Great oneliners too. I break one naziīs neck, another one sees me and immediately shouts: "Ich bin dein Todesengel!" (Iīm your angel of death!)
Just hillariously stupid...also, if the nazis had fortified Paris like they did in the game, it would be german today...thereīs towers on EVERY house, thereīs FLAKs everywhere, Airships looming above the city, thereīs fucking V2 rockets in the outskirts of town goddamnit...when did they get all that shit over there...

True, the main frenchman...what´s his name...Luc, he sounds like some cheap immitation of a french person by someone from god knows where...but french IS a strange language. Ever seen a french guy speaking decent english? I haven´t, so maybe it´s the same the other way round too.
What´s also funny is that, at least to me, most male characters sound like they were voiced by the same guy, they all sound the same more or less.
Sure, Sean has an irish accent...apparently. I don´t know what Irish people sound like, I´m happy that I can tell Scots from English people and some American accents from others...

DougClayton4231
Jun 25th, 2010, 02:31 PM
That's because you never pronounce the H in French. The main character in the Saboteur has a Scottish accent, not an Irish accent, which is very lolworthy. In every language, foreigners always have a weird accent. For example, I am not French, so my French accent is a little off and it sounds more Haitian or West African. I've never heard anyone speak German in a strange accent though.
OxBlood
Jun 25th, 2010, 04:02 PM
The saboteur does have it´s fair share of strange-sounding german coming out of american mouths ;)
A common thing is that non-germans often tend to pronounce a soft S like a sharp S. The soldiers in the game for examples have this line: "Ich suche...ich suche" (I´m searching, I´m searching) which is stupid to begin with because it makes them sound like a databank-program :D The S on "suche" is soft but they pronounce it like the s in "search" for example. Apart from the fact that the "Ich" is often pronounced like "Ik"...which people from Berlin actually do but it still sounds different :)
It´s the beatuy of having sounds in one language that another doesn´t use often or even at all. Your rolling R is another good example, or the TH-Sound that maaaany germans can´t seem to get right no matter how hard they try...at least that gave birth to clearly german-spoken english...if you know what I´m trying to say...listening to german TV and writing english seems to confuse me a little...
I like this accent-business, it´s kinda fun for some reason, especially when the people that are supposed to speak german in games have accents so garbled and strange that I - an actual german - can´t understand them anymore :D

I started playing Trauma Team and it is by far the best when compared to the other ones I've played. The controls are polished and the "exact preciseness" of the previous entries has been made a lot more easy. Which is good news when you think about how shaky the sensor can be. Also the different types of operations (ER, ortho, paramed, etc) is a nice touch that mixes it up just enough each time.

Sometimes I forget how absolutely brilliant TF2 is until I go and play a much shittier online shooter in an attempt to wean myself off of Valve's primary-colored smack addiction.
Modern Warfare being the shittier game in this instance. I've played it for about 16 hours so far and every 30 minutes or so of getting knifed or shot out of the blue with absolutely no warning I'll remark to myself, "Holy shit, I hate this game." Visibility is really the most massive factor. Tn TF2, you can see pretty much everything and always know what's going on; where you are in a level, how to get to the place you want to go in said level, who's attacking you, the direction your enemies will generally be coming from, whether or not you're about to die, etc. In MW2, by comparison, everything is an absolute clusterfuck, you won't know you're going to bite it half the time until you're already dead, and you generally can't fucking see anything. That might be more like real life combat than anything TF2 does, but realism does not go hand in hand with fun. Like, ever.
Not sure why I keep playing it, though; probably because I've found I'm not a horrible sniper, and I've always had a thing for intensely lying prone and peering daggers down my scope while I wait for an oblivious schmuck to wander into sight. Although it's sort of annoying in MW2 since sniper rifles are considerably shittier at distance-killing than most of the standard assault rifles. I get one very precise and very loud shot, while unable to move easily. The other guy gets 30 mildly accurate shots while lumbering at me, and if none of those hit me he'll probably instakill me with the fucking stupid combat knife attack instead.
Another thing I've noticed is that smoke grenades are useless; I tried throwing them at demolition targets a few times to give me some cover to set a bomb up, but the guys outside the smoke's range can see my outline plain as day while I'm fucking blind as a bat inside of the thing and they murder me just as easily as if I'd charged in Leeroy Jenkins style.
I've not touched the single player yet, but seeing as how MW2 was pretty much built around milking the multiplayer popularity of the first one it probably isn't as good. It certainly won't have anything as masterful as Pripyat.

I bet I can help you out. I have 200.6 on my PSX save. In the regular castle there is the merman room. Look on your map or let me know if you got the jewel sword from there. In the lower part of the room where the mermen attack from there is a secret room to the left with a jewel sword in it. To unlock the door you have to enter the little cave part in the top half of the merman room. Enter in the left side of the cave as the wolf. Exit out the right side as the bat.
You can also do that in the inverted castle.

I hate it that XBL updates "sometime" instead of "when something new arrives". I want Puzzle Quest 2 damn it.
Late-Edit:
Okay, so after about 4 hours of Puzzle Quest 2 I come to this conclusion: Good but somehow not as good as the first one. Why? They put in some new elements (Weapons, shields and accessories usable in combat, good idea, giving every class a means to heal in battle and stuff like that) but at the same time they apparently took out the whole castle-building-thing with all it´s possibilities as well as the mounts. You CAN upgrade your weapons but it´s very expensive and you can find the same weapons randomly in chests (good minigame-mechanic btw).
But my main complaint: No random battles. What the fuck. How am I supposed to grind? Quickbattle? Gives me around normal XP but only 30 Gold.
Oh and the game is really luck-based most of the time, the CPU cheats again, though not as much as in Part 1 and the battles are all pretty long and difficult. Somehow feels like playing an RPG where you´re about 5 Levels too low for the region you´re in if you know what I mean.

Apparently the developers never got the memo that spawning enemies two feet from the player for minutes on end isn't a fun way to stretch out the length of the game. Especially when the combat isn't very good. Also the physics frustrated me, which isn't good, because 80% of the game involves puzzles. I'm glad I finished it.

yea, only when you're choosing a target or spell. But when you have three separate menus for three characters running, it'd be pretty easy to fuck up and choose Chrono's attack instead of Marle's Magic or whatever. Unless you made the menus bigger, but then the battlefield would be smaller. It's not like FF1 where you have all the time in the world, and enter commands in a specific order.

The original is one of my favorite RPGs. I'm bummed the presentation took a hit, but the new content and game tweaks definitely makes up for it.

FES had better AI, then P4 had the best AI and manual control. Portable is straight up P4's core engine with some of the stuff from the original game, and a few changes. So it's kind of a mix of everything:
-Manual control (P4)
-awesome AI (P4)
-Getting up from being knocked down doesn't end your turn, but getting Dizzy while knocked down is a threat. (P4)
-Additional commands like helping someone up, follow-up attack (P4)
-Navigator tells you enemy weaknesses, not the weaknesses you've already found (P3)
-Three types of physical attacks (P3)
-The best cast of characters (P3 <3)
They change a few other core mechanics. Fusion spells are gone completely; now you get Spell cards ala more traditional SMT games. Getting tired also works differently; you can fight as long as you want, but it seems you won't get tired until you go home. To balance that out, returning to the entrance won't fully heal you anymore (it costs money). Combined spells from the first game are gone like in P4 (Cadenza, the best starting heal spell from Asparas+Orpheus, is now an ITEM, so you can't abuse it anymore). Personally I left the AI on for P4 and P3P because it adds to the role playing aspect of the games, and it makes battles more streamlined. It hasn't let me down yet.
Some other changes were implemented from FES to Portable, like the social links, and donating money at the shrine taking up time now (but now you can WORK at shops now, which ups 1-3 of your personal stats and gets you some cash). Managing equipment is done through the main menu instead of talking to people, and the weapons store doesn't frustrate anymore.
The tweaks definitely make it the best version of the game, even if the presentation took a hit, and the changes to both the original story and the female story give an added incentive to play again.
EDIT: Aw I liked the Endoscopy levels in Trauma Team. Just found it funny that you could turn around and NOT see the endoscope at all :lol My beef with the game was that Forensics took fucking forever!

Does anyone know which is the best SNES Final Fantasy game? And are any of them worth avoiding?
Chrono Trigger addresses my complaints with jRPGs: you can just end conversations mid sentence by walking away. No random battles, so you see who you'll be up against or avoid them if you want. And since battles take place in predetermined locations, there's really no need to grind; the game gives you just the right amount of battles that it's not too easy or hard if you just fight everyone Plus the combat is great. It's worth it to let the time meter stay full for awhile since you can combine other characters' attacks for different effects, as opposed to just picking attack or your strongest spell as soon as the meter fills. Also character location makes a difference, since some attacks move in a line, or in a circle.
It's also got a fun story about time travel, a talking frog knight, a slutty cavewoman, a polite robot, and a parasite that ends civilization in the year 1999. The time travel aspect is explored surprisingly well, too, both in story and gameplay. By the end of the game you get a sweet flying time machine to travel between time periods, solving mysteries linking characters from totally different eras together. It's surprisingly deep for an SNES game from 1995. I think a lot of people don't realize how impressive that game is.
FF6 is pretty cool too, but it's pretty dated in a few ways. It's got the best story in the series, but I think CT improved a lot of it's game mechanics. FF6's story is more dense than CT's even with all the inter-time period relationships and events. CT's story is more fun, for the sake of the gameplay, FF6 keeps the same old gameplay from FF4 and focuses on telling a good story. They compliment each other well and are both stellar, and which one you like more will come down to preference.
Anyone who recommends Secret of Mana has nostalgia goggles on. That game's aged poorly. I don't care for Super Mario RPG since I liked the Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi games one hundred times more, but for whatever reason SMRPG is loved by many, so maybe I just don't get it.
Tales of Phantasia is pretty cool. If you don't know the Tales games, all their combat is in real time, on a 2d side scrolling plane. The stories are usually pretty bland, but the combat's pretty fun. Later entries focus heavily on stringing together combos, though Phantasia still definitely encourages keeping attacks going between all the characters.
And I'm pretty sure most of i-mockery loves Earthbound. It's got some flaws (totally hard and a little unfair at the beginning, fairly easy later on. Figuring out what to do next can be pretty frustrating without a guide, which the game came boxed with.) but it's charming as fuck, and it doesn't involve swords and dragons, so it's got a different feel to it. I think Mother 3 is a lot better, but they're both fun.

The thing that was really annoying about Lufia 1 was the targetting system during a battle. Example: You are fighting 4 goblins and you select all 4 of your party members to attack the same goblin. The goblin dies after the 2nd party member attacks him. The remaining 2 party members will still attack the blank space where the goblin was instead of attacking the 3 other alive goblins.
During regular battles this isn't so bad but I've spent a long time on a boss battle where you fight the 4 goblins in question. So you would spend a good amount of time trying to kill one of the 4 goblins. Then after attacking the 1st goblin for 6 turns you might kill it on the 1st party members attack sequence and the remaining 3 party members attacks would be useless.
DougClayton4231

I've always wanted to play the Wild Arms games because they looked like a spiritual sucessor to the Lufia games.
I played through a good amount of Secret of Mana 2(maybe 3....Seiken Densetsu 3 maybe) on an emulator and it wasn't that great. Would have been fun with more than one person.

Downloaded it from the US-PSN this morning (bless Sony for their foreign-fake-account-policy of not giving a shit)
Oh man, does that mean, I canīt abuse...whatever the name of the ultra Fusion spell was that lucifer+? had to oneshot the final boss? That was fucking awesome back then!
That bugs me a litte, the fusion spells were really cool and I absolutely LOVE abusable things like that in RPGs ;) itīs not like P3 was the easiest RPG in the first place, it was freaking brutal at certain spots if I remember correctly...sounds like, itīs even harder now...AND your playing on a timer AND you have to know exactly what to do on each day to maximise your results...man.
Good thing I still have my 300+ Pages of Guides around here somewhere...the things you do for your favorite modern JRPG...
Oh, one question, Episode Aigis is not part of Portable, right?

From what I hear, no, but I saw the Doors of Sands in a trailer, but the male was being played. Which is kinda, you know...impossible. So there's some new content with that that isn't Answer related specifically. And I clarified a few things: spells ARE passed on still, but combo spells between two personas are items now because they were all too amazing. Like Cadenza and stuff. You CAN fuse Personas with specific weapons now, which I don't remember, but haven't tried.
The game's easier now that you don't get tired until the next day. Means you can basically grind forever, which is what being tired was supposed to prevent. Now they charge for healing, but it's not a ripoff like in P4, so you can dungeon crawl for a long time.
EDIT: Oh and I won Destructoid's P3P contest. I'm getting Junpei's hat in the mail :D Second Persona-related contest I won!

Also I got two of the three Engineer updates! Still need 3 or 4 more achievements for the last one, which is the most interesting I think (Wrangler. Lets you manually aim sentries, though they do jack shit by themselves. Replaces pistol.)
The miniturret is pretty interesting, and a few times I found it useful. Like if I need to escape, I'll drop it behind a corner I'm running down and it'll at least slow down the other guy. Plus there were a few times where I ran to a point, dropped an Exit, picked up some scrap, then dropped a minigun and went on my way in seconds flat. That's pretty empowering. But since you can't repair them, it makes their role totally different. I can't figure out how to use them effectively beyond quickly setting up base or shaking off people while I haul ass.
The new shotgun is worth having right now, because everyone's either an Engineer or a spy or demo. So shit explodes. Having those revenge bullets is handy when your sentry's having a hard time staying up (or is a minigun. In which case you'll lose them a LOT and save up revenge bullets).
Moving buildings is pretty fucking ridiculous though. That's a game changer, and the fact that he can do it by default now really opens up strategies that are a little too effective. Like upgrading a sentry in your base, packing it up, teleporting, and planting it someplace way further off without having to camp and wait for an upgrade. If only the Minigun could do it, I'd understand, but regular sentries, dispensers, and teleports can all float around? Matches are really gonna flip flop now.
Also, I'm pissed the guitar is ONLY a taunt, and not an actual weapon. As cool as a mechanical arm is.
The new maps are awesome though. Really fun.

Phoenix Gamma
Jul 12th, 2010, 04:08 PM
It won't launch the rom? Or the emulator? What emulator are you using? I've been having the most luck with SNES9x, which worked without any configuration for me. Something might be in the wrong folder, but I'm not sure. dl.qj.net has working downloads, incase you suspect your download really was corrupted.
Also, firmware might be the problem. Some emulators require them to be in GAME150 instead of GAME depending on the firmware, though I'm pretty certain newer custom firmwares don't require GAME150. But definitely give that a shot. I think this only works on fat PSPs with 1.50 kernel installed.
Lastly, make sure you have the newest version of the emulator (dl.qj.net has just about everything), since some were rewritten for newer custom firmwares that don't support 1.50 kernel. If the newest version doesn't work, try updating to newer custom firmware like 5.50 GEN or 5.50 Prometheus.
So yea, it's gotta be one of those three. Corrupted file(s), a misplaced folder somewhere, or your emulator or firmware is outdated.

Tried Crimecraft for a day because it was free. I was kind of liking it until the PvP portion came along. At that point, the tutorial disappeared, and I had to try and figure out where to go from there.
It's odd; you don't get newer, more powerful weapons, per se. You just get weapons with more slots so you can put in different modifiers. There's plenty of skills to choose from, too, but you can only take 2 on at a time, including passive ones.
I finally quit when I realized that nearly all the quests required PvP in specific areas where no one was playing. Plus, I didn't know anyone else playing the game, so I had to pair up with whoever was available.
Sucked.
But now I'm playing The Red Star. It's pretty fun. Like part beat-'em-up, part shooter, and part bullet hell game.

I dunno. This month is pretty dry with the exception of SC2. Was Prototype good? I heard that it was a bit like Infamous for the PS3.
Itīs the same genre but plays a little differently.
Prototype is extremely hectic and brutal where Infamous is more relaxed and tame. Thereīs hardly a quiet moment in Prototype and it is a bit less polished than Infamous but I liked both games a lot. If you can find it cheap or whatever, give it a try.
The main thing in Prototype that CAN get on your nerves is that youīre really hunted by the military AND the infected freaks. Anyone sees you, all hell breaks loose, tanks show up, attack helicopters are on your ass and you gotta get out of there if you want to survive. Sure, you can disguise yourself pretty effectively if you want but the missions force you to venture into the more infected regions of the city and the further you are in the game, the more is infected until the whole city is one giant molloch of violence and screaming and the red shit that infects everything.
Oh, and I liked the story and the way it was told. You get your normal exposition during the missions but you can also work on "the web of intrigue" which is basically you stalking goverment officials and scientists and absorbing them which reveals strange visions of the whole shit that led up to you being in that city and the way you are. And from one guy you get a lead on the next and so forth.
And of then thereīs one of the major draws of the game: You are SO fucking powerful in the game later on itīs not even funny. You take out Helicopters and Tanks left and right, you mow through a whole street full of infected with your tentacle-arms, you pound APCs into the ground with your sword-arm before hurling yourself 2 blocks by throwing your giant-fist and shit like that. The feeling of power really came across in Prototype.
Sure, it has some cheap and frustrating missions and the constant pressure can be annoying but all in all: Awesome game.
And...yeah, I guess you can tell I like it :lol

http://tf2wiki.net/w/images/thumb/e/e0/Sniperwithhat.PNG/200px-Sniperwithhat.PNG
It's the same fucking hat, but with teeth on it.
If my math is right, it costs 2 items for a scrap metal, and three scrap metals for a reclaimed metal, so a reclaimed metal is 18 items. Three reclaimed metals makes a refined metal, so that's 54 items for a refined metal. Then three refined metals for a hat, so 162 items total for a hat, correct?
I wasted 162 items on the default hat with teeth.

Errr...TF2 has items now? Did I miss something? Last time I looked it was a team-based funshooter...but that was back when it was released...
Played about 4-5 hrs of DeathSpank and I really like it. Nice humor (not always but most of the time), fast, simple gameplay, a very relaxing game.
Concerning Infamous vs. Prototype, I think the Plot of Prototype is better, Infamous´ Story is just too bland even with the twist-stuff. Also: The town descends from center of modern civilization to deadly mutant moshpit in a week? I don´t think so.
The concept of Prototype feels a bit more realistic, I mean how many days does the game span...not that many if I remember correctly. Military tries to contain the outbreak, fails and nukes the site from orbit. That´s about what happens over the few days in the game.

Red Dead Redemption just won't fucking end. I killed Williamson and Esquella, but there is still more genocide left to be committed. Now they want me to shoot endangered species and Native Americans. Haven't they suffered enough?
On another note, I find it hilarious how much hypocrisy there is in RDR. John Marston acts as if he's the good guy, but he is just an assassin with a flimsy cause of reattaining his family. Literally, everyone you meet convinces you to commit multiple acts of homicide based on their poor political philosophies or outright racism within two minutes of meeting you. 12 hours in, I've killed over 800 people and I haven't done any killing outside of missions. How can you have a mass murderer take a moral stance on anything lol?
Dan Houser really needs to give it up, San Andreas was the only marginally good plot that he wrote, and that was filled with shitty dialog and paper thin reasons to kill people as well. Any parent who'd give this game to their child is setting them up for failure.

Did any of you guys see that article on Destructoid about the moral implications the end of that game represents? It was quite convoluted and clear the author was looking WAY to into it. You cant help but laugh and think "Dude its just a game! :lol "

I actually skipped the opening scenes and the closing scenes. I read about what happens so I didn't bother watching them.

I got to that part, then skipped to the "after that" part where I can change clothes again. Was kind of in a hurry. Need to go back and watch it.

The final final part where you kill the guy and get your revengeance was really lame. You killed one guy YEARS AND YEARS later who all but forgot about you and was only marginally responsible for all the shit anyway.
Fucking lame.

I felt it wasnt so much about revengeance as it was "Do it or we kill you!".

Wow....just wow. What a shitty ass ending. After 10+ hours of gameplay, the last thing that anyone wants is for the protagonist to commit suicide by US Army rather than flee for his life. Personally, I thought that John was going to make a run for the border. That revolutionary asshole said that he could have his own personal asylum down there whenever he wanted. It's like if Rambo surrendered to the Vietnamese army in #2 rather than trying to fight his way out. I'm just fucking mad now.

The ending was a bit of a letdown, especially the "epilogue" for reasons you all know well enough :D
But the real lowpoint of Red Dead for me was Mexico. The plot just takes a 15 hour break or something and just assumes you´re still there when it decides to come back.
That and I fucking hate the desert. As a concept, as a place, you name it. Even Videogame-Deserts make me feel uneasy, so I guess I really don´t like it...
Can´t really decide what to play now, finished Ghostbusters (360) a few days ago...good think I just got it from a friend over the weekend, pretty boring game even with all the nice atmosphere.
I was also urged to play Zone of the Enders 2 since I never played that (finished the first one when it came out though)...and...I kind of hate it. Boring gameplay, stupid story, unlikable characters I almost thought I was playing an Armored Core-Game with all the senseless boosting and shit...I don´t know if it´s me or the game and I honestly don´t really care.
Been thinking about givin Blacklight a shot, but the feedback from other people was not really that enthusiastic, despite the rather good ratings...good thing there´s a Demo.

That's where I got annoyed with it too. I usually love the desert levels the best in videogames. It's the water temples/levels I hate.

Overall, I enjoyed single player, but that ending was definitely a bit disappointing. I think the idea was that by doing what he did, they'd finally leave his family alone, but I don't think that came across very well.
Also, I think the "years later" revenge should have been more a bigger deal but I think it fits well with the western theme.
Still, I put in over 5 days of play time, and that was before I started multiplayer.

I guess I'm going to start FFXIII today....sigh.....
I know that it's going to suck, but I have nothing else to do to kill time until mid-August.
At least SC2 comes out in a week.
