Playing Lego Batman with the kids. Pretty silly, but love the fact that the music is Danny Elfman's.

I've only played through two levels of this so far but it's fun. I like the fact there's like 50 chars to play as.

Yeah, they are trying to get through the levels so they can play as villains. I admit that's why I'm playing it. We also have Lego Star Wars 2 (that has the characters from the original trilogy) and Lego Indiana Jones. This one seems to be the most detailed of the three.

Don't be so hasty. It's pretty much universal knowledge that GW doesn't have the best taste. Get whichever system you want, but do some research.

Thanks for the heads up. :) Just wondering though, not sure if this has been discussed before.

Is there a general consensus as to what is the best system?

Games, price, ease of controls? I have been really wanting to upgrade, but my PS2 has been "the system" in my house for so long that I'm not sure. It used to be that a lot of games were system exclusive, but that's not too true anymore.

Any suggestions would be a large help.

And here I go again. Here are some questions that you can ask yourself before you buy one of the big consoles:

What games do I want?
What kind of controller might be better?
Do I care about online gaming?
Do I care about the price of the whole thing?
Do I care about Blu-Ray?
Do I care about how loud my System can get?

Let´s view this from your perspective, meaning, you don´t have either.

Concerning games, it doesn´t matter that much, most games are multiplatform anyway and the few exclusives are generally not really worth it I guess. (That goes for PS3-Exclusives and it´s just my opinion).

Controller-wise, most people agree that the 360 Contoller is the better one (yes, even many PS3-Owners), but apart from the messed up L2 and R2 Buttons, the PS3-Pad is almost as good as the PS2-Pad. I still like the 360-thing better.

Onlinegaming is of course possible on both systems, the only difference is, that Xbox-Live costs a bit of money, but is better organized as the PS3 Counterpart as far as I know. If you want to play with screaming little idiots is a whole different affair. You get those on both systems, part of the package.

Price...well, the 360 is cheaper, but Xbox-Live costs a bit and you may have trouble with the inferior...erm...Hardware-integrity. Meaning, the 360 breaks down more often than the PS3 and has less manufacturing-quality.

Blu Ray...well, the PS3 has it and the 360 doesn´t, it´s that simple.

And the Noise-Level...the 360 can get extremely loud while the PS3 is pretty silent in comparison.

And finally, my own point of view. I have a 360 since it launched, because it was the first next-gen console. If the PS3 had been first, I´d bought one of those instead. The whole thing with the PS3 having no games available is solved by now, both systems have largely the same lineup of games with only minimal differences between versions that no normal person cares about. The few exclusives that the PS3 has are no reason for me to spend another 400 bucks, but if you don´t have either of the systems...well I guess it´s up to you.
Both systems are good, with the PS3 being the more solid piece of plastic, in terms of quality of the parts used.
But apart from that, I think the 360 is slightly better, because of the (in my opinion) better controler, better online service and cheaper price. You just have to get used to it breaking down once every year or so...but I guess they should be able to produce more endurable versions by now, mine is still from around the launch.

PS3 - Media centre that plays games.

XB360 - Games console that contains a media centre.

If you don't give a shit about streaming media from your network or blu-ray then it's really hard to recommend the PS3 as this is what is does best. The games work fine but you can get a 360 more cheaply, have a wider range of games and play practically everything you could've played on PS3 anyway. The 360's relyability has increased dramatically since launch and the latest consoles are far less prone to failure than public opinion would suggest.

That is what I think of this subject

Also, I missed a lot of PS2 exclusives last gen by being a hardcore Nintendofag, so a PS3 with backwards compatability to me is infinitely better than anything that could ever happen on the 360.

I forgot the most important thing: Try not to read forums on such topics. You will mostly encounter people who are desperately trying to defend "their" system. Even though concentrating on one specific product out of sheer "loyalty" is about the most stupid thing you can do as a Videogamer since it just downgrades you to a worthless fanboy who misses out on 50% of the stuff.

But hey, even they might learn some day I guess. It´s only about the games, never about the system they run on.

I haven't played my wii in so fucking long. I've considered getting more virtual console games, but no online support sucks balls. It's obviously a lot more fun playing with someone who's in the same room, but I live alone this year and it's rare for any of my friends to be willing to drive across the city to play video games.

Has ps3 gotten any good games lately? It seems like whenever I check to see what's available for it, there's a lot of nothing. Also, the commercials for Resistance 2 are fucking atrocious.

Nick
Dec 3rd, 2008, 03:44 AM
Zomboid, I don't think the PS3 is going to get any decent exclusives until next year, but even that is pushing it.

Which would you reccommend?
I would recommend a Xbox 360, but that's just my opinion. The Wii no longer goes after my demographic, which is a shame because they could have had something there. As for the differences between the 360 and PS3, there isn't much graphics or gameplay wise. If you were going to get a console just for the online experience I would suggest a 360 again. There isn't anything wrong with the PlayStation Network, it's just that Xbox Live seems more streamlined and easier to manage. I would also mention Achievements, but the PS3 is coming out with Trophies now so it may just be a case of what you prefer.

Bottom line:
360: Achievements, great online.
PS3: 360 with a Sony logo.
Wii: $200.00 worth of nostalgia and 2 months of use.

Unless you're going after nostalgia, already released games, a handful of ports, or are really into mini-games and gimmicks, there's no reason at all to buy a wii. It's an overpriced paper weight now :(

Xbox live also seems to have a fuck of a lot more people on it than the Playstation network. So if you're into online games, go with the 360.

The main problem with Blu-Ray right now is that the films are fucking expensive. Rentals are worth it though.

But yeah, I haven't played any games on my PS3 for a long time. In fact the only game I've really enjoyed in the same way I might enjoy a PC game is Uncharted which was rather good. The Sweeping Mine:
A Minesweeper Fanfiction

by King Hadas

Wallace Runnerdail had cleared his share of fields. Big and small, think and thin, and superficially this one didn't seem all that special. It was a nine by nine yard field with maybe eighty-one spaces, quite generic actually but something felt wrong. He went to work pushing down tiles to reveal clear patches of metallic ground which in turn would set of more tiles, and on said ground he could see numbers.

Every sweeper knows about the twos and the threes and the fours and what they mean. Some sort of algorithm to decide the chance of meeting a mine and than in turn meeting the mine-reaper. Some sweepers believed the numbers had a deeper intrinsic meaning; unifying the sweeper, the mine and the field into a great mine wheel of life and chance. They believed when they died they'd get a chance to be a mine or even a minefield being sweeped. Wallace learned all this at the Goosewind Minesweeping Academy for Young Boys of Questionable Moral Fiber (GMAYNQMF) though he didn't put much stock in any of it. He played the game by instinct alone and it gotten him this far. But something seemed wrong!

Wallace began to think back to when his evil twin brother had tried to kill him with a mine. He had stopped him by beating him to death with a mine that happened to be deactivated. Suddenly, Wallace broke down into tears!

"No, NO, stay focused Wallace, you damn lunatic. It's impossible, your brother is dead. It's impossible his been reincarnated as a mine and is stalking me as I speak to myself AT THIS VERY MOMENT!"

"Is it brother?" A rusty voice of steel literally chimes in.

Wallace's blood ran colder than a mine in a refrigerators inside a girl minesweepers panties. He spins around, but not quick enough! His brother Sogrog Runnerdail the mine lunges at him from atop the red number two! Wallace tries to leap away and succeeds! His brothers attack falls short and he explodes screaming "AWOOOGA!!!!!."

Wallace laughs riotously as he rushes onwards, happy and free until he hears a familiar clicking under his feet and then a not so familiar bippity-beep-bap-bop. He recognizes the bippity-beep-bap-bop from GMAYNQMF training videos and know his run atop a mine.

"...but HOW?" he exclaims with righteous indignation. "I'd already cleared this part!"

Wallace could not know that the mine field was his ex-minesweeper mother who he never visited. A mother's rage really is...explosive.

Seriously, they give you so many fucking units. One map started and I saw one recruitable unit and said "whew, I'll just kill him an-" when I was suddenly ambushed by FIVE (FIVE!!!) new units, all of them the same (Usually cavaliers. I hope you fucking love horses!)

Aside from the absurd sidequest requirements and having too many people, it's basically a streamlined experience like how Days of Ruin streamlined AW. It's missing some things (rescuing, a few promotional classes) but strategy is even more important. I actually used a knight to block up a passage and prevented 15 enemies from attacking or moving. It was like the three stooges fitting into a door, but times 5. I took a cellphone picture because they just kept piling up into the doorway and grimacing at my one guy.

Oh! And multiplayer takes place on actual maps now, which is sick. My friend and I had some really interesting matches. Nintendo's online shop is also really handy, and lending units to friends is a neat idea (less neat when your friend wants to test it out and gives you the shitty starter paladin in exchange for someone good :( ).

If you don't mind the graphics and lack of a new system like relationships or transforming, you'll really like it.

Also, Fathom, I love the crap out of Echochrome. It's not like there are other good PSP games to play :( Definately not for everyone, but when I booted that game up at 1AM and the music kicked in through my headphones and all I saw was that tiny white screen, I got pretty into it. See, I've only got P3 (and FES) to go on, since I'm usually hesitant to get anything made by Atlus. They love their fans, but they publish/develop some seriously crap games sometimes.

SMT:O is pretty fun even if I'm almost entirely detached from the franchise. The demon collecting aspect is the only real draw, though. It's not like, say, PSO where it's all about getting really cool weapons or something. Combat is pretty fun since it incorporates your actions with your partners, so having someone cast Agi as you charge at an enemy is neat. Then you follow up with different combos and junk.

I could see myself playing this a lot if I had a big enough group to play with, so we'll see how it goes when the public release comes out. I want to hurry up and get better stuff instead of just the beginner crap like every other player in my area.

Certainly. I spent another 2 hours in an actual dungeon, bringing me to four hours, which means that this game is literally half grinding and half socializing.

I'll put it in a spoiler tag because it's a long post. No actual spoilers, I promise:

The social aspect is pretty much the same, except:
- Square lets you jump to different parts of where you are. Instead of fumbling around school, you can just skip over to certain floors or buildings. Same with shopping districts and stuff.
- "Thou art I..." speech only appears in the initial Social Link, not after each level up. A quick graphic pops up and you move on. Much better.
- More stats to boost (Diligence, Expression, something else...) and more chances to boost them (reading a manly comic book in your room boosts courage).

Combat:
- Fighting is done during the afternoon, which screws up priorities. Now it's School>Socialize/Fight>Dinner/Bed.
-If you get knocked down, you stay down after getting hit. However, when you get back up, it doesn't count as a full turn, meaning you get get up and fight instead of waiting again. So actually, it's much better, since you always do something every turn no matter what.
-Direct Command is an option under tactics from the get-go, but it's not the default setting. AI is the improved one from FES, so someone will knock everyone down instead of wasting moves on the same enemy.
-Big change: Enemies automatically sense you coming. This means to get the jump on an enemy, you need to charge at it from behind and strike immediately, since they'll turn around in about 1 second and chase you. And man do they give chase. P3 was more lenient since you could walk behind them and never get spotted.
-Camera angle is from the back, so learn your attack range quickly.
-SHUFFLE TIME constantly moves the cards, meaning you need to stop the shuffle when the card to want is about to approach the center of the screen. Really tricky.
-Enemy reinforcements can be called during the fight, or immediately after you kill everyone. A pain in the ass, but it's more EXP.
-The navigator/advice person doesn't tell you weaknesses until AFTER you find them on your own. This part's a real bummer, since I still don't know one enemy's weakness and I see him a lot.
- I'm 90% sure the Compendium auto-registers Personas as soon as you get them. It's the level ups that you need to manually save. I have 5 Personas but only needed to save two that I used frequently.
-No warp points. Now you jump right to the last floor you were on right away. Also, you can run back downstairs now.

That's about it. I'm still learning stuff as I go. There's a lot more stuff here, which is saying something compared to P3, which had more than an entire playthrough's worth of stuff.

Zomboid, if you havent heard most of the exclusives that are on the PS3, maybe you should go play...them...or read about them a bit before jumping to conclusions about how they suck

and xbla does not have the Pixeljunk series..or echochrome.. i can keep listing them.

Sounds like fanboyism and also if you look at the praise for Killzone 2 by beta players and by the press, it'll change your mind on it. Sequels..can improve.
Yeah, it sounds like xbla is really missing out on some treats with those games that I've never even heard of. I'm sure they're wonderful and people are just keeping that awesomeness to themselves by not discussing it.

Oh wait, fathom just did and he said they suck.

I thought there were enough people here that made it very clear that no one gives a fuck about ps3's exclusives, so stop trying to push that. I have a few friends with playstation 3's, and none of em play any of the exclusive games. Why? Because they suck or aren't as good as the ones that are on multiple consoles.

Really, kid. You're not gonna change my mind or anyone else's, so fuck off.

FINALLY installing fallout 3. but jesus, what else have i been playing lately (NOW THAT SCHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL'S OUT -- FOR -- WINTERBREAK):

assassin's creed - this game is beautiful, but really wish it had a subtitles option. somewhat hard to understand, and i generally play video games in a room with a lot of people, so you know what i mean. but yeah, controls are nice, gameplay is nice, direction is a little confusing, and yeah, i understand what everyone was saying about repetition
wario land: shake it! - hilarious. every time i press a button wario lets out one of his many grunts and gross sound effects, and i laugh every time. gameplay is very simple, feels kinda like a flash game. maybe would be more suited for the ds? either way, the game is just fun, and i think that's all it's trying to be. so GREAT
oddworld: abe's oddyssey - i've been playing this nostalgic title on a psx emulator on my laptop, but goddamn if playing it on a keyboard is frustrating (although, playing the pc version would be fine because the talk commands get mapped to the number keys). i might attempt to run this on my wii; there's some sort of psx emualtor floating around. loved this game as a kid, still love it now
mother 3 - lol, i wish i was playing this :( but i can't get into it for some reason. FUCK ME

getting ready to play over winter break: super mario sunshine, bomberman generation, fallout 3, fable, sam & max, hopefully pick up mushroom men... IT'S GONNA BE A FUN BREAK!!! :D

My friend got Tatsuwhatever Vs. Capcom for the Wii.

I don't know who the anime characters are, but the guys from the Capcom side are kinda lame. Aside from Ryu, Chun Li, Legends Mega Man, and the titty lady from Darkstalkers, they're all pretty obscure.

Combat's the usual stuff, but for some reason I picked it up really quick and started comboing my friends, which is weird, because I'm not that good at fighters.

On one hand, I really wouldn´t mind having some nice exclusives for the PS3, so there might finally be a reason for me to buy one (the System is a good one, no doubt)...but there isn´t. The only game that really sparked my interest was MGS4 and a friend of mine was so nice to let me play the entire thing while he watched.
I was pretty dissappointed by that "game". Sure, it ties all the loose ends...but it does that so desperately, it´s not even funny. 4-5 hours of more or less good gameplay and 9 hours of idly sitting by watching Snake get old and even more stupid is...not what I call a good game.

Concerning the other games...what is there? Resistance is just another Shooter (say what you want, it is), I already have enough of those. Uncharted is apparently very good, LBP is good, Valkyria is said to be good too, but I think a game like that belongs in a museum...no...wait. On a portable console, that´s what I wanted to say. And apart from that, there´s nothing that can make me want to spend 500 Bucks for a single game or even three.

The only things I´d like to see on XBL too are Warhawk and Stardust HD, those are really nice games.

I think the main problem is, that many people already have a 360 and don´t see any reason to buy an aditional console (like me) just for two or three more or less good games. I can only speak for myself, but the PS3 doesn´t have any systemsellers right now. For me.

I don't know what you were referencing in my comment, but okay!

No, it's a new fad in games, like "open-worlds." It started when a lot of PC devs made games with editors and things, now they're making games with similar experiences as PC gamers migrated over. Customizeable characters are cool, but level editors are where the fun is. I think shit really kicked into high gear with Halo 3's Forge. Being a popular franchise got a lot of people into the editor, as opposed to the other way around. Now that that's been around for a while, people are looking to games for user-generated content.

I have not latched fully onto user-created content, yet.

With LBP, I feel absolutely daunted by everything I can do in it and I end up doing nothing but making a penis-shaped rocket car.

In Banjo Kazooie, I enjoyed making monstrosities and driving them around and using them in multiplayer. It was fuckin' awesome.

But regardless, it'll probably be superceded by some other awesome idea that everyone wants to capitalize on and with be incorporated into every title in the near future some way or another.

Also, everyone I know who owns one's argument as to why the ps3 is better is because none of them break.
That's probably because no one plays it enough to break it.

I guess that´s because the PS3 is the contender this time around. Last time, the PS2 already had it´s place in everyone´s house and the Xbox had to compete against that and didn´t do too well.

This time, the 360 arrived first while those hellbent on sticking to a single company (a behaviour I will never ever understand) had to wait until "their" console was released. So maybe those PS3-Fanatics feel like they have to be on the offense all the time...don´t know but that´s at least one explanation.

Also, 360-Fanatics try to avoid praising the hardware since they´ll only get a RROD-Counter from everyone. They DO break down a lot, that´s a fact, and an unpleasant one for the Fans to work with.

I did have the opportunity last week while at Game Stop to play the same game title on both 360 and PS3. And 360 is winning out, especially since it's way cheaper. The controller isn't as different as what was the original concern. The graphics and playability did have a slight edge going to the 360.

Plus, the exclusive games for PS3 that we saw had not that great of graphics or really something that I would stand in line for.

Unless I am mistaken, there seems to be about 70% 360ers, and 30% PS3ers on the thread. I do see both sides, but I think that I am closer to my choice now.

Again, thanks everyone for their input.

I wanted to like this game so hard. It takes forever to get going is the biggest problem, I think. After the game actually started at Chapter 5 I was sort of done with it.

It's Advent Children: The Videogame, starring the heroes of FFs 1-11 (12 isn't as stupid and over the top to be included I guess :()

Basically, each character has Brave Points and Hit Points. BP determines how much damage you do with the square button, and circle button uses attacks that drain BP instead of HP. So you want to reduce their BP to zero and get bonus BP, which gives you a whole lot of attack power with the square button attacks. Then you attack the HP and try to kill them while they try to regain BP by running away or stealing yours.

All that happens while people get knocked through destructable environments (castle cielings, stone pillars, entire mountains) and run around walls and grind on shit. It's really cool and fun to watch (even comes with replays that can be put on your computer) and the gameplay is pretty easy to grasp once you understand how everything works.

There's an RPG element too, where your character's stats are saved in story mode and are leveled up. You earn new moves and items to bring to battle, and when you're up to it, you bring all of that stuff to multiplayer (which can scale the levels if you don't want to fight your friend's Lv 20 Cloud with a Lv5 Cecil).

Really impressive game. No clue why this isn't on a console.

Smackdown vs. Raw 2009. I hadn't played a WWE game in ages before I got this, so it's really a breath of fresh air in a lot of ways. It's got plenty of modes, great creation tools (except that you have to play a career to get your created wrestler's stats up) and it's a lot of fun.

I haven't played it and I really don't see why it deserves the spot of number one game of ALL TIME. For me, Portal easily goes there.

The story in any Zelda is trash , so what's left is basically the puzzles..I'm uninformed, the only zelda game i've finished was twilight princess and the minish cap and both required me using a guide in some parts.

you're right, you are uninformed. twilight princess was fun, graphics were beautiful, and the combat was great. the story was pretty muddy, but ocarina's is much better and easier to understand. it deals with the typical light/dark thing, but this was back when this sort of thing wasn't unoriginal. i wouldn't call it the number one game ever, not even my favorite zelda game (LTTP), but it is very good, and i would say a must for any gamer who enjoys adventure games. and you mention that all you're left with is puzzles; zelda is like 75% a puzzle game, so... yeah, no shit

I think my favorite Zeldas are Link to the Past and Majora's Mask. MM just doesn't get the love it deserves. The time travel aspect was really neat, and there's way more stuff to do outside of the (short) quest. As for LttP, I'd say it's as close to perfect as the series will ever get.

Wind Waker would have been another favorite if they could have made the game harder.

The people who made that game worked on Portal. Valve hired them after they saw the game, picked up the concept, then fleshed it out into a full retail game. I wouldn't say that project explores the concept enough to be an alternative to Portal, though I recognize it's importance to the development of something much greater. And even if Portal is or isn't original, it's still a really solid game. As you said, originality doesn't matter as long as the game's fun, and I happen to think Portal was very fun. I'd give it a B+.

And since this still isn't the argue about games thread, I'm gonna talk about another game that I'm playing right now.

Castlevania: Order of Ecclasia is pretty rad. I just made it to Dracula's Castle, which is pretty intense, since it's probably the same size as every other level combined. The glyph system is really awesome, but I wish it gave you more to collect to fight with. I love being able to finally combo monsters, and the steep difficulty doesn't bother me nearly as much as I thought it would. It's hard as balls, but managable.

Great game, but I'm getting a little tired of these "Metroidvania" games. I know they're the only ones that sell anymore (lolJudgement) but they haven't done anything radical to the main series since Symphony of the Night.

I'm still under a small pile of games after Xmas (beat Fallout 3, working on FarCry 2 and SmackDown vs. Raw 2008) but there are a few things on the horizon that I'm excited for. But let's not beat around the bush here: Killzone doesn't hold a candle to any of the FPS greats despite the bewildering level of hype heaped upon it in the run up to its release. Sure, it looks great in the screenshots, but just wait until you play it. You'll soon have all the evidence you need to come to the rapid conclusion that Guerrilla's efforts occasionally crawl out of the war-torn mire, only to get crushed under the rubble of their own failings.Youch.

Not sure how the game did financially, though. Critically, it was your standard FPS, but they marketed that game pretty heavily.

Seriously, I even died once on the first boss. I can't remember the last time I died on the first boss of a video game.

Order of Ecclesia features an oldschool mechanic that many gamers are not familiar with anymore: Learning Bosspatterns. The Giant Skeleton and the Crab in the beginning were kinda hard at first, true, but after that it got a lot easier.

And after you get some of the better Glyphs (especially the one from the Nova Skeletons in D´s Castle), most things are pretty easy to kill. But it´s true that this game is quite a bit harder in comparison to the other Castleroids...those were extremely easy for the most part.

Phoenix Gamma
Jan 7th, 2009, 09:09 AM
There were times where they dealt 100+ damage per hit while I only had 400HP and a handful of potions. And I grinded.

The real problem is that there's just not enough time to react. For instance, there's a fish skeleton boss. He charges from one end of the room, and you need to run to the other end to hide in the blindspot of the attack. If you're anywhere in the middle of the room, you don't have time to run to the other end; You can't jump over him (giant fin on his back), and there's no other place to run. You have to take the hit. Mind you, this move looks exactly like another move, except that move stops short of hitting you if you stand still. So you have a 50% of getting an attack in or being attacked. Oh, and he can poison you if you get too close.

Meanwhile, the lighthouse crab was just "camp here and attack", and Albus, the rival, could be beaten by crouching. It's a great game, but the boss fights had the weirdest difficulty curve I've seen in a game.

With regards to FFIVDS, I'm pretty deep into it now. It's upsetting to see Cecil and Edward sit around and cry, even in the beginning of Square's long history of RPG stories. I'm afraid to use the new Augment system since they're permanant, but I love Auto-Battle. That's a nice touch. It's making some of the meaningless battles less bothersome.

OxBlood
Jan 7th, 2009, 09:33 AM
Yeah, the Fishdude was quite nasty, took me 3 or 4 tries I think. Concerning the normal enemies, after a while, evading was pretty easy but it can be rather unforgiving at first, that´s definetely true. Then again I played through Megaman 9 right before I played OOC...maybe that helped.

ONLY DATED IS REAL.

I thought the voice acting was decent in FF4, ESPECIALLY when you compare it to any other RPG. Case in point....Star Ocean 2. The most expensive porno you'll ever buy.

Order of Ecclesia is the shit, even if it's sans Belmonts. Have you tried to get any of the boss medals? INSANE.

I actually got a few medals without even knowing what they were. One of them was even one of the bosses in Drac's castle.

And if you want good voice acting, Persona 3 (and to a lesser extent, Persona 4) is the only Japanese RPG I've played where I felt some kind of emotion from the actors. Any other JRPG acting has been forgettable.

I can't play through a game a second time unless I have a reason, branching story paths or multiple endings, even something petty like a new costume might do it. Good luck. I haven't played the remakes but I was only able to get through so far in FFV. The boss battles are really hard.

Protip: there's a part where you get kidnapped by goblins or something and they take you to a small forest. Stay in the forest and kill the mobs. They drop a weapon that attacks twice per hit. You can get NIN class and dual wield these for a total of 4 hits with a char. Then you can get DRG and jump, so it's no damage for you, but when you land it's 4 hits on the enemy.

FFIV was really great too. I love Cecil and Kain. I've only gotten to the boss who is underground and casts like cure IV on herself constantly. I think we've discussed this before. Haven't we?

The ending made me jump. It's so obvious but because it's a video game I didn't see it coming.

The last bit? Yeah, scared me. And I didn't see the "what was really happening with Issac" thing until they brought it out and then I was like, "YEAH!" Maybe it's 'cause I really didn't give two shits about the plot until then.

When that lady first starts accusing Hammond of with holding information I thought the story was going to be generic as hell but it didn't turn out to bad.

I was saying the game had no replayability earlier but thinking about it now they're actually a few good reasons to play through it again; I didn't get to mess around much with all the different weapons cause I kept spending all my money on those damn Power Nodes, I kept hearing this "DA DA DA!!" sound effect indicating something spooky had happened while I was looking for boxes to stomp on (I wonder if those things were suppose to look like Xboxs) I'm still not sure if that was just background music or if I really missed something, and there was still hard mode to go through.

It's to bad I rented it and already took it back but I have yet to see a game worth paying sixty bucks for.

Right now, I'm juggling several things:

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII (PSP)
Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney (DS)
Trauma Center: New Blood (Wii)
Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix (PS3)

I keep moving backand forth between these four, and I've probably run the battery down on both my portables from never actually shutting them off.

I'm trying to get into Left 4 Dead multiplayer, and it looks like it would be a really fun game, but unfortunately I'm not very good, and letting my team down time and time again isn't a very appealing prospect.

Anyone play Spelunky? It's a freeware PC game made by Derek Yu (dude who made I'm O.K. for Jack Thompson's challenge). He describes it as a mix between La Mulana and Nethack, and it's pretty good.

Basically, you're this Indiana Jones-y dude, and you need to collect gold and find an exit, but here, there are different elements to mix up the random dungeons. You can kill a merchant and steal his stuff, or you can try to take it and run. After, you become a wanted man, so all of the merchants want to kill you. Then there are different booby traps you need to disarm and stuff. Lots of stuff to do.

Persona 4 is finally winding down, too. I'm 60 hours in and near the end of the game. I think. Last game took 80 hours, so we'll see.

Finally tried left 4 dead and it's awesome. I've only played a few scenarios so far and have to get used to other weapons besides the shotgun. We've only played on the normal setting so far.

Just bought Soldner X: Himmelsturmer of the Playstation Store and having a grand-ole time in this German shmup. It's nice to see that almost all games getting released nowadays have trophies.

OOH, I'm also playing Crash Commando! It's like Liero X with vehicles!

Ah Söldner X...it´s hillarious, what kind of stupid german samples they used ^^ I also love the funny german accent the english voice-samples have. The game itself is fine up to stage...3 I think. After that it get´s really bad. They ignored almost all rules for shmups.

Like I said, it's a western shmup and I wouldn't expect it to be like Ikaruga or something like that.

Yeah but there are certain things that you just don´t do, when you create such a game. Like the movement of the enemies, the layout of the levels...things like that have to follow specific ways of design. Or should.

Every game in 2009 has to have trophies. I just want to get Flower and Fat Princess before i start getting other titles on the PSN.

Linger in Shadows is...pretty weird, you should try it out, only 3 bucks and like 5 silver trophies for doing 6 minutes of gameplay
