I HAVE DOWNLOADED POKEMON DIAMOND. THIS BETTER BE GOOD. >:

I am NOT A FAN of the fact that each new game means the total number of Pokemon gets higher and getting 150 of them 12 years ago was a tedious task enough. But fuck I've got OCD so let's get this shit going

When you start learning about the hidden stats each monster has, you'll never escape. And if you have friends to play with, well shit...

I have a 300+ hour save :(

My highest save on any game ever was FFX at maybe 75 hours.

For Pokemon games I think Silver wins at around 50 hours. Seriously, how do you guys not hit a point where it gets completely boring. Everytime I play a new game now I set up a system where I go "OK, I need to catch X number of Pokemon between each badge" and even then I don't finish

Team building. Once you play good players who Max-Min their stats, you need to start building whole teams for specific strategies. Then you start messing withtheir stats. Then you breed duplicates because a Lucario with a Special moveset is different from a Physical moveset. Then you need to breed to get special Egg Moves because the only way to get a Togekiss with Nasy Plot is to get a female Togetic and a Male Nasty Plot Pilachu to fuck. Then one day you wake up and a year has passed and you're covered in goat's blood.

... But Yea if you play it alone it gets old.

About 3hrs into Splatterhouse. I´m kinda impressed, it´s really not bad. Not that smooth here and there but very nice. Love all the Lovecraft-references :)

And as a special Bonus I finally got revenge on the universe because now I have a Splatterhouse game with german text on the cover, something that was unthinkable back in the day when a young Oxblood saw Splatterhouse 2 when it was new and thought "This is kinda cool, why can´t I get this in Germany?" Oh and of course all three Originals are on the disc too which is especially nice :)

Tbh, I still haven't even cracked my ep. Super Meat Boy on PC is buggy as all fuck. It's more stable as of this afternoon and it's getting gamepad support fixed tomorrow so that people without 360 gamepads can play without using a controller emulator. At least custom levels will make up for it in January.

Also I had to skip on of the levels in Rapture and I'm stuck on the last one in The End before the boss. And I can't unlock The Kid because McMullen hates me and wants to drain all the love out of my heart and fill it with burning hatred.

It's working.

Okay I guess I understand Dwarf Fortress more or less, at least the basics. The Keep is coming along quite okay I guess, some experiments with water flooded some of my caverns but then again that´s what they were there for.
Ran into a problem when everything froze over when winter came but I realized that my Dwarves can life off of wine and be okay...gotta think about constructing a well when spring comes around again. No enemies so far but if as much as one goblin shows up, I fucked I guess.

And I played some Hot Pursuit with two friends yesterday...beat both of them in the first race (normally they are great at racing and I suck more than you can imagine at these kind of games) and wrecked one of them as a racer while he was a cop...he rage-quitted *sigh*. He´s a great guy but he can´t stand losing...at all.

I was playing Black Ops online last night and I honestly can't understand what people find so entertaining about it. I've been playing FPS' for damn near 20 years and I still don't understand what's so entertaining about running in circles, shooting each other in the ass. I'll probably never get it though. When you win, it's meh and when you lose it's meh.

I think that the only shooter I've actually spent time playing online was L4D because it was unique and exciting, at least until L4D2 came out and killed the playerbase :P

Also, I bought Patapon 2 and Grandia off the PSN, I needed those, especially Grandia, I´ll never forget the music in the main menu, it´s one of those tracks that reminds me why I play Videogames.

Re Alert 3 is hilarious, since they basically just decided to dump that last shred of realism, and go with war bears, giant samurai robots, and troop-launching APCs (No, seriously; it shoots them through the air, and they parachute to the ground. Fucking hilarious).
Ninja Gaiden 2 seems a little easier than I remember the first to be, but not a cakewalk, by any means.
Ignition? FUCK Ignition. The laser puzzles just have this special way of eluding me every time, and the AI is a cheating bastard in the racing game. The only reason I want to beat it is for the unlockables.

Oh I don´t mind, don´t worry. I actually enjoy them more or less. Mostly because of the hillarious voices of the enemies. Half the time I don´t even understand what the hell they mumble but then: "LEEEET ME DIIEEEEEEEOOOUUUUIIIEEEE!" Cracks me up every time and I don´t know why. Maybe because that specific sample is so fucking loud :lol

The enemies are (up till now) so amazingly random. I mean...pale People that can sense your breath with no eyes doing a reverse and backwards limbo-dance towards you. And each and every time you land a headshot, York has something to say which gets even more funny when you use the SMG. "AmazingGreatHeadshotAmazingAmazingHeadshotGreatsho t!"

I really hope they never explain that :)

I´m happy that games like that are still being made from time to time, it´s like a breath of fresh air among an army of undead remakes and stupid or overused concepts and ideas. Fuck, Deadly Premonition even compensates me for Final Fantasy 13 and that is saying A LOT. Thanks for that, Access games :)

I stopped by Gamestop with the girlfriend before we started walking home the other night, and one of the employees we know there was going to sell his DJ Hero and two turntables, but Gamestop won't buy the table, so he said I could have them if I won a round of rock paper scissors. Thus, I got about $150 worth of stuff for free.

Deadly premonition looks and sounds horrible from the way people are reacting to it. I watched a video of the scene with the coffee and fell in love with it.

Here's a great article about Deadly Premonition.
http://www.dreamdawn.com/sh/post_view.php?index=7827

It's what made me want to play the game although I think he makes some parts sound more appealing then they actually are, like the profiling.

Edit: Here's an unbroken up version http://www.dreamdawn.com/sh/info.php?name=Deadly+Premonition%2CRed+Seeds+Profi le

OxBlood

The profiling is aweseome cause you first think it´s an acutal gameplay-element but it really isn´t anything at all, just a mandatory sequence you have to watch :lol
I mean it´s not like you can do anything to influence or control the profiling. There´s nothing there that could be appealing or unappealing about it :D

@10kVolt: Does my reaction to the game make you think it´s bad? It´s brilliant ;)

I showed the game to a friend yesterday and he just sat there, eyes wide open, staring at the screen while York was driving and talking to Zach...until I showed him the whistle-theme, that kinda made him happy :lol He also laughed at the fact that Mr. FBI has an Infinite SMG and the fortunetelling via coffee.

King Hadas
Dec 15th, 2010, 04:51 AM
The way that article describes it, every shoot em' up segment is the personification of York's mental profiling (not just when he smokes and puts all the clues together). He also compares those parts favorably to Silent Hill's otherworld which is a bit of bullshit.

OxBlood
Dec 15th, 2010, 05:27 AM
Hm, that might be, I never thought about it that way...then again, I´ll wait for the game to finish before I try to make sense of anything in it :D

I don´t know if you could compare those parts to Silent Hill but I´m really not a fan of those games cause they´re fucking horrible in terms of gameplay most of the time...and boring.

I'm pretty sure that the enemies in the game are

the ghosts of the people who died during the 60's raincoat killer massacre. Or they might be the visual representation of York's incredible profiling mind unconsciously feeling out the edges of Greenvale's past.

3rd Birthday. I never played thr first two Parasite Eve games so I have no idea what's going on. Plus the dialog is Japanese so I REALLY have no idea what's going on. And the levels are pretty fucking weird. I think the third mission involves going into a giant tree/hive to fight the parasite inside the void inside the tree as it eats Manhattan? The the streets start bleeding? And you can possess people?

The body swapping mechanic is actually really awesome though. And the game has no loading screens so it's a PSP game that's actually good for portable play. The TPS and RPG elements aren't terribly deep but it's a pretty fun game with some interesting mission scenarios.

Speaking of third person shooter RPGs, I'm downloading Mass Effect 1 and 2 on Steam right now as part of the sale. I hear the second game is supposed to be the second coming of Jesus Christ or something like that.

Just stand in the bottom right corner of the screen exploding each time a new wave of enemies come onto the screen. Also SAM figured out you can use your power while jumping. I don't get the hate for Miranda. She's certainly not the most likable, but she doesn't trigger my latent misogyny the way Ashley does. Hearing her bitch at me in ME2 made me really wish that I had abandoned the nuke and left her to die. At least Tali is way more awesome now with her new powers so I can actually bring her into battle, and she didn't go psycho like Liara, so bonus points for her.

Pretty much all the guys barring Grunt are awesome, though. Also, Mordin singing Modern Major General; didn't see that coming. Or that mean right hook.

Just beat it. Jack and all the NPCs died because Illusive Man told me to make sure I'm prepared and I did three too many missions. Goddammit >: I don't miss Jack though. Told her to eat carpet during the Miranda fight. Fucking laughed when I read her poetry in the Shadow Broker's lair. I thought bringing her to the final battle would protect her from dieing on the defending team but Bioware was a step ahead of me. Ah well.

Mordin's definitely a favorite. I thought Garrus was already really likable in ME1 so seeing him toughen up in ME2 was pretty awesome. Tali was just adorable and only really creeped me out once she became perpetually horney (she sounds like an erotic novel character once you decide you're gonna fuck, and she googles "Human Mating Rituals" regardless.) The Shadow Broker DLC blew my mind and made Liara actually likable, and I dunno what'll go down in ME3 since I told her we're gonna have blue children then proceeded to unmask Tali.

Legion is really interesting, I thought. Mostly because his very existence is so weird and hard to understand. I really don't fully grasp him. I was pretty torn on what to do in his loyalty mission. That and the decision on whether to keep the Collector base actually had me alt tab out of the game and think about it for awhile.

So she died because you told her to eat carpet? Or because you brought her with you?

I told Miranda to fuck off during their fight and took Jack with with me in the final fight because I felt she could kick more ass. She did kick more ass and lived to tell about it. Miranda, who I told to fuck off during the fight and later to defend that doorway or whatever it was where everyone else stayed while you do the final part of the final mission, also lived.

Phoenix Gamma
Jan 4th, 2011, 04:04 PM
Both. If someone's not loyal when they're in your party during the final fight, they die. I thought keeping her in my group would keep her alive because I figured Bioware wouldn't think to program someone dieing while they're in your party.

Someone told me leaving her with the defending party would have kept her alive so long as Grunt and Zaeed were there, but I don't miss Jack enough to replay the mission. She pisses me off just as much as Ashley.

i played through ME1 in a few days, then moved on to ME2 and have been really disappointed so far. You can't walk around citadel much, the 'stores' might as well be dialog options, and I feel like a tremendous amount of control over my loadout has been taken away. There's no sense of economy, no sense of immersion since you just load everywhere instead of walking/elevatoring, reloading is stupid, and I miss being able to use my sniper rifle most of the time. I hate that they moved the freeze off of space so I switched it back, only now I have to push a different button to 'use' stuff since they insist on loading like 90 functions on the same buttons, but DIFFERENT functions than in ME1. FFFFFFUUUUUU

Combat does feel better and I like the addition of headshots.

I really wish I had done more of the side quests in ME1 :< I miss it terribly already. I'll still play through ME2 because I'm kinda attached to my character.

btw garrus is my homie too for reals

Phoenix Gamma
Jan 4th, 2011, 07:48 PM
I don't mind that you can't walk around the citadel much. The citadel in the first game was FUCK ELEVATORS JESUS FUCK WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME I'VE BEEN SO GOOD TO YOU VIDEO GAME. And I hated shopping in the first game because that involved using the second most miserable inventory system I've ever had to put up with in a video game (Final Fantasy XIV wins that award.)

Reloading bothered me for a few hours, but then I realized that it makes you aim your shots better and manage your weapons. Yea, you can spam the assault rifle at the Krogun, but you can save time and ammo if you switch to the hand canon. I love that alternate ammo is now a power instead of an upgrade, and the controls make more sense to me in ME2 than ME1 (kept hitting R expecting to reload. SILLY PG THERE IS NO RELOAD YOU JUST THREW A GRENADE).

Oh, and being a Vangaurd without being penalized for using something other than a pistol/shotgun is fantastic. I hated having only two weapons to use in the first game and two weapons I was shitty at. And I feel MORE immersed in ME2 since there's just so much more stuff crammed into it on top of the preestablished lore. There's more flesh this time around and they really put more thought into some of the locals.

Also, fuck the Mako. That shit was annoying and tedious.

I'm glad we all love Garrus though <3

Huh? I stepped away from Minecraft in November already ;) But that´s a nice base there, whoever built it. But I´ll give it another look in the coming months since it´s in Beta now and that means: more content.

I rewarded myself for getting a new job by finally buying a Wii and that´s about all I´m playing right now. Monster Hunter, Rune Factory and No more heroes 1. Though 8 other games already wait to be played later. Yes, I know but those things don´t cost as much so there´s more games for my monthly gaming-budget :)

Yeah, Gideon is living up to his role as the final boss.
But there are some items, like the bionic arm or whatever, that raise stats by 50! It's too easy after that; all my stats are max 100, and I haven't even beaten the game.
it's actually more cost-effective to raise your DEF and WP stats at the store inside Leo's Place (hipster cap) and your STR and SPD at the record store(smashing turnips, crash and the boys) than buying stuff at the secret store. it's even more cost effective to use one character to pay off scott's late fees, then all four characters can use the video store and that's retardedly cheap (+10 to all 4 stats and +100xp for $4.95)

From the look of it, it's pretty intense. High on ammo conservation, a lot of stealth-oriented stuff. There are tons of ghosts and scary shit. It's been compared to survival-horror type stuff.

It's a beautiful game, I thought. I haven't beaten it yet, but the story is decent. I'd be excited for a sequel, so long as it runs smoother. The framerate seems kinda choppy sometimes.

I liked it but compared to the first one I thought it was a pretty big letdown. Everything was toned down, less powers, less customization, useless costumes...

I still got one of those Xmen games on PS2 lying around here somewhere, never played it, but as far as I remember, there´s a lot more going on there in terms of customization...

I finished No more heroes. It was...okay I´d say. Nothing too impressive. I expected it to be weirder somehow. That and the whole earning money just to get on with the story was fucking stupid. Glad they got rid of that in the sequel.

Why is it too fast? I mean everyone has to use the same controls anyway so it should be pretty balanced, right? I´m not that interested in PVP anyway, I´m too old for that crap and the only thing it does is make me fucking furious.

But I would like a console MMO...preferably one that´s at least semi-decent. Champions sucks, easily more than CoH/V did, and I'd probably still be playing CoH/V if I was in a large guild.

DCUO is better than both combined. It's a very very fast gameplay, and I don't know if consoles could keep up with it even with the more difficult bosses that you get when you're closer to level 16/17 out of 30.

Fallout New Vegas

Started a new game with a character whose sole purpose in life is to decapitate people with a fire-axe.

Mafia II

Original game + two DLC:s were about 20 bucks on Steam. The original game is pretty awesome but the DLC:s are just mind-boggling. How could they fuck them up like that? All I wanted was a few cool missions that don't necessarily have to have anything to do with the original story, but instead I got some boring errandboy missions with a strict timelimit.

OxBlood

I tried out DCUO yesterday...after 3 hours of patching mind you, and so far, it seems to be pretty solid. It controls well, its gameplay is rather simple but fun, the powers seem to be useful and diverse and even the small selection of travel powers doesn´t piss me off as much as I thought it would...I´m pleased to see that the weapon you choose isn´t just cosmetic but each has its own skill-tree with different attacks, block-beakers, interupts and stuff like that.

The quests are...meh so far, standart stuff but that was to be expected. It´s unusually quiet in the chat which is of course a detail of the PS3-Version...which reminds me, I gotta plug my Keyboard in and start getting on everybodies nerves (it´s what I do in MMO´s, I make sure people talk to each other and have some fun doing that).

I haven´t advanced very far, just got level 7 with my ragged, burned gadget-wielding handblaster hero but so far, I like it.
