What I miss the most is the amount of effort making internet content used to take. You don't really see that effort anymore. Everything's become disposable.
I'm not a fan of that either. I don't update my site every day because I'm much busier than I used to be, but more importantly, I've always been a quality over quantity kind of person when it comes to content. Just as social media has practically killed message forums, bullshit sites like BuzzFeed have killed off quality content.

I could easily churn out the kind of useless drivel BuzzFeed does, but I'd rather not steal 10 animated gifs from around the web, not credit the sources, and then spend maybe five minutes surrounding them with words that no self-respecting writer would describe as an article. I prefer to take my time, snap my own photographs, and put some actual time, effort, and love into the work. Unfortunately, that means less frequent updates, and the web has sadly become all about who can update the most frequently and get the most followers and blahblahblah.

It's the same reason why you see YouTubers shooting so many quick "vlog" videos about absolutely nothing. It's filler. It's an update for the sake of updating. I guess I just don't believe in putting up content like that... I'd rather take a little more time and make something that a person might still remember later on down the road.

Don't get me wrong though; there's still a lot of great stuff on the web these days, but there's so much b.s. you have to wade through to get to it, I can see how a lot of people don't care enough to seek it out. It's a lot easier to just hang out on Facebook all day and share the latest LOL-inducing image with your friends. There's no time commitment to it. Quick laugh and then get on with your day. It's just not what I'm into. I like reading lengthy pieces in my down-time, so I guess that's why I tend to enjoy writing them too.

Independent creators have far better means of getting their work out to the masses than they ever did in the past - but with that, there's obviously gonna be a lot more lackluster material to dig through to get to the good stuff. And while I'll always be a huge fan of the creations I grew up on in my childhood years, I'm constantly finding great shows, movies, music, toys, art, web sites, and more. I'm just not into the work that people clearly put no love into and are just doing it in the hopes of making a quick buck. Keep looking around though, you'll find things you like, I promise.

I agree, there's a lot of talent out there just not out in the view for the public. I don't mind digging for something, it's practically what I do with most of my free time. I just get discouraged that when I go out to go see a movie, that what is out in main movie theaters is just the same boring and godawful shit that is dished out non stop, it's just ate up by the masses. Not only that but any good movie that is showing is in select theaters that I have to drive out of my way to go see (Then again I do live in shitty Columbus, Ohio). Just thoughts like that shitty Jennifer Lawrence movie, "the house at the end of the street" is practically every cliche convention that any cheesy slasher has used, went on to gross 43 million dollars where as a great movie such as The Master only grossed 16 million (one of the films the was only being shot at select theaters where I live). I'm probably more or less just caught of in caring about what others like and take it personally, but I just find it disheartening to see how most of the good quality stuff out there doesn't get to reap the rewards like all that other trite stuff out there does.

Those were my first expectations when I first went to go see it. Definitely has that approach as far as it goes with the whole psyche of an L Ron Hubbard. The shots in that film reminds a lot of Terrence Malik's style i.e. days of heaven.

Yeah I watched it all the way through and I accidentally have a huge knowledge of how Scientology works. When you live so close to Hollywood you know people, date people, hate people, all that stuff, who have been or are still active with that stuff and that movie is 100 percent a Scientology rip off. If they just left it with past lives and talking them out and shit, fine, but they threw in the whole auditing crap and now it's a rip off.

I'm sure Scientology would love to sue them, but it might not be in their best interest to draw attention to the movie or themselves.

First I went on cringe binge today. I got stuck on Pamperchu and was in utter befuddlement with his used diaper fetish and microwaving them in his old ass microwave. It all snow balled from there. To get myself back to sanity, I go onto Netflix and watch Ghost Dog Way of the Samurai, great film by Jarmusch, night starts feeling right. Movie comes to an end and then right under it was documentaries, and right in documentaries is bronies. Shit, I get stuck back in the loop of cringe. I put it on for like 5 minutes and in that 5 minutes I see the infamous photo that you or either Chojin put up here where it's him and like 4 other things with this huge cut out of one of those pony things. You know, the one where he is in front and bending down with his arms spread out. He's like wearing a green hat or something and has a red shirt on. The kid in the back is like kissing this cut out of a pony. It totally caught me off guard. I then had to turn it off, it got to awkward for me. Now I have to cleanse my mind with some John Waters.

It's funny, I felt a little nostalgic and decided to check the forums out for old times sake. I have done this in the past here and there. But when I found this thread I immediately felt a little bummed out :(

Maybe this would be a good place to reminisce. We should post all of our favorite memories on the forums!

I really enjoyed the Mock Wars and what became of them. Users would get pitted against one another in a bashing contest to see who had more wit and the thicker skin. Things definitely got a little ugly in my house with Immortal Goat. He always took Chojin's insults and OAO's political debates so serioiusly.

I enjoyed the back-and-forth (more back than forth) on the fluoride "debate" with the chillmeister - remember don't say the name, or you may invoke the evil spirit. :eek

Though his "arguments" were to cite articles that were years old (and mostly irrelevant) and punctuated by the ever-popular "Wha-BAM" level of commentary, it was quite instructive to me on how to be patient in discussing topical science with a stone-cold moron. And occasionally, he would be unknowingly hypocritical in his pronouncements which I found hysterical.

I also liked reading George's stories, until he stopped posting them. I hope his ex didn't kill him off. :(

Summer of '11 was the last time I-Mockery felt like I-Mockery to me. I remember it well because I was going through major life transition. I can't remember anything too significant in the last three years or so.

Some days, I come into work, and some client wants us to draw a story about a robot falling in love with a girl, and I guess it's supposed to correlate with health care strategies or something? I never understand any of the text on my posters or videos or whatever I just draw things and assume my supervisor and the client understand all of it.

I was working on a series of animations as a background artist and drew a rat in a bellhop outfit as a background character. He was onscreen for a whole second as the camera pans by. Anyways, he became this kind of Anti-Poochie, where the client demanded him to be in every cartoon after that as a main character. The problem was we needed to meet a deadline, so I never gave him proper turnarounds or anything, so somebody just rigged the background drawing with a really bored/angry expression, but he's saying things like "YOLO :)" and shit because that's what happens when rich old white dudes write scripts I guess.

I'm watching the new Godzilla right now and they just introduced a monster, not sure who it is but I'm guessing it's Rodan. IDK we'll see, but this brings up my main complaint about American V Japanese. In Japan the guy in the rubber suit has lots of lights on him and the camara stays focused on him. He is in fact the star of the movie. In America everything is pitch dark and I guess we are supposed to use our imagination and the humans are the stars of the movie.

For the love of god(zilla) America, can we start making monster/giant robot movies where we can focus on the monster with lights on them. I don't give a shit if the CGI makes them look fake, they fucking are fake. Hell sometimes SyFy channel movies are better for that reason alone.

#1 We did internet tech support and everyone calling us hates us.
#2 The pay was great, checks were no good though until 2 weeks after you were paid.
#3 He hired a ton of retards that have never used a computer to do tech support 300 miles away from the real techs and those guys would never take our advise or bother to learn anything.
#4 What's the point anymore, let's just have fun. :(

Have you noticed how folks 60+ are very much into the "alumni banquets" and such (just a fancy word for multiple year high school reunions). That seems to not be the case for people of my generation. Sure, my class holds a reunion. But outside of a small clique of people who hung out with each other during that time, nobody else shows up (including me).

Something got lost from the 50's and 60's up into the 80's. Some "connection" with fellow students that I have yet to discover.

Now with all the technology out there keeping us connected 24/7, this "connection" is sure to dissolve ever more quickly.

I feel the exact same way. Weed helps a lot with just putting politics on the back-burner while I work through my own shit, but I read about it everyday. Gets me pissed and depressed. Then I smoke and/or occupy myself with other things and I get better. Sometimes I wonder what could be done to fix all or most of the bullshit.
