Noggin Bops “Spookies” Rule!

Noggin Bops just might be the best Halloween wind-up toys EVER.

I've always been a sucker for spooky wind-up toys, and I'm sure many of you remember the Harbingers of Bad Luck from a few years ago. Well, take just one look at the new toys pictured above and I'm sure you'll agree that they're among the greatest Halloween wind-ups ever created. They're called "Spookies" and are a part of the Noggin Bops wind-up toys series. And man oh man, do these things bop with the best of 'em as you'll see shortly. But first, I need to introduce you to each character.

The vampire is "Drac". The monster is "Frankenhead". The pumpkin is "Jack-O-Bop". The skeleton is "Skully". The mummy is "Wrapper". There's also a witch named "Cackle" but I haven't found her in stores... yet. Ok, now that you've all met, I'd like to share my lil' Noggin Bops "Spookies" Halloween tribute video where these toys show off just how well they can bop to a good tune.

Neat toys, but after the last episode of Family Guy that song officially drives me f*cking crazy.

Man, these things dance better than I do

I think it's time for them to take that show on the road! They'd make tons of cash.

Drac could get the highest quality "red milk", Jack could afford more candles than he could ever light. Skully and Wrapper would go start their own variety show. And Frankenhead would get the greatest frankenh- um, nevermind

they are cute...but that was an extremely long 2 minutes
(see previously mentioned Family Guy)

Wow, Jack-O-Bop is really getting into it!

Man, I think of Full Metal Jacket when listening to that.

Hah, I love how you start pushing them to their fall at the end and how Skully dances a little like wanting to avoid the same fate.

I thought they were going to dance to Thriller.

User avatar

Hah, you're absolutely right, captain516. The very first thing that came to my mind when I saw the picture of this article a while ago was Thriller.

Sweet! I want the skeleton.

Ha, I was just thinking about that song a few days ago. I have it on tape, and haven't listened to it in a long time (because it's hard to get a discman to play a cassette tape).

I have seen the missing Witch character at the Borders Bookstore that I work at. They also carry the Jack-O-Bop character as well.

I was thinking Monster Mash, personally.

just want one

User avatar

So you have to wind them up every 5 seconds?

I was really hoping for Thriller, not that awful Bird is the Word song. Family Guy ruined that song for everyone.

Family Guy ruins a lot of things, and this song is no exception

The pumpkin sure does seem to get more into bopping than the rest of them.

Sorry, I don't keep up with the latest Family Guy happenings, but NOTHING can ruin that song. It's been around for ages and it shall forever rule.

Kyle Harkes (Guest) on 10/19/2008 10:30 pm

I agree with Rog. That and the simple fact that I don't let shitty shows like Family Guy ruin things like this for me.

Bird is indeed the word, is it not?

It might just be me, but it looks like they're all doing the 'cabbage patch', which makes me love them at least 25% more. Skully is my favorite, he looks like he should glow in the dark.

it's 6:18am and I just started work...
I work with children and I have to say if it wasn't for this video of dancing nightmares I may have killed something today. thank you. thank you so damn much. what a brain trip at 6 in the morn.

"DRAC" kind of looks like "THE COUNT" from Sesame Street.

User avatar

El Sammo on 10/20/2008 1:30 pm

I think Drac is the "pretty" on of the bunch, and Frank must be the "bad boy".

I can't hear "Bird is the Word" without thinking about the best remake of that song EVER by Pee Wee Herman in Back to the Beach. Rog should do a review of that movie, stat.

User avatar

Copper on 10/21/2008 12:26 am

Honestly, Rog, if you want Cackle the Witch, try a local Borders. She's the only one my store has left in stock (though we've dubbed her Cloris Leechman, due to several employees being DWtS fans...)

User avatar

Skully seriously mesmerized me. I don't think I even saw the other ones dance.

Jeremy B. (Guest) on 10/23/2008 9:49 am

Where do you find these things?

Guest

jason (Guest) on 10/23/2008 3:19 pm

Drac,Frankenhead, and Skully look like some kind of unwanted freakish children whose mother was a cruddy CGI kids halloween special.

User avatar

Jony B. Good on 10/23/2008 10:46 pm

I only recently watched Back to the Beach, right where Pee Wee starts to sing. It's that kind of movie where you can't believe someone actually paid to MAKE it, yet, for some reason, you don't stop watching until the end. The most depressing part is where Gilligan still get his ass owned by the fat captain guy... anyways, the chick in the pink bikiny makes it all worth while.

User avatar

Oh and on the subject, even more hilarious that the skeleton dancing is my 3 year old boy trying to dance like it. Like always, great finding Rog!.
