So I caught a little bit of the movie "Big", starring Tom Hanks as Josh, the other night and I hadn't seen it in years. It was always a fun movie as a kid and still holds up pretty well even today, but there was one scene I had completely forgotten about. After he gets a job at the toy company, there's a scene where Josh is in a meeting and they're discussing a new Transformers toy. It's a giant skyscraper that turns into a robot. After playing with it for a little while, Josh announces, "I don't get it. It turns from a building into a robot, right? Well, what's fun about that? What's so fun about playing with a building? That's not any fun!" and he then goes on to brainstorm ideas for a new line of Transformers based on insects. Yes, we all knew this was a nod to the Insecticons, but that's not what I'm here to talk about today.
I'm here to talk about the fact that I don't think a skyscraper which transforms into a robot (and vice versa) was really such a bad idea at all. Sure, it's not as cool as all of the Constructicons joining together to form Devastator, but it's still a nice big toy and it looks like it has red flashy eyes and a surprised look on its face. What kid wouldn't love a giant skyscraper with red flashy eyes and a surprised look on its face? I'll tell you what kid wouldn't want that toy. The kind of kid that should've been aborted.
Hasbro, if you're reading this, you missed a golden opportunity with this toy back in the 80s, but it's never too late to correct that mistake. If you make a giant skyscraper Transformer reminiscent of the one seen in "Big", I will most certainly buy one... and I'm sure many, many other people will do the same. To sweeten the deal, myself and the other I-Mockery readers will even lend you a hand with it - we'll come up with some names for the skyscraper-bot! Do we have a deal, Hasbro? Good.
To all the readers of I-Mockery: Post your ideas in this thread for what you think the skyscraper Transformer toy should be named! Corpotron? Skyscrape? Let's see what awesome names you guys can come up with.
It's high time this fictional movie toy becomes a reality, so let's get the ball rollin'. Who knows... this could be the impetus for an entire city playset that transforms into a robot. Crazier shit has happened.

Alright! See you guys LIVE on our latest episode tonight!
So my laptop started acting up this week and after I was unable to resolve the problem myself, I decided to take it in to the local repair shop. Well, they ran some diagnostics on it and it turns on my main hard drive is filled with bad sectors and is on the brink of death. Eugh. What a pain in the ass. I don't know about you guys, but having to reinstall everything on a computer is a major annoyance that I wouldn't wish upon anyone. I'm trying to look at the bright side here though; the computer itself is fine, it's just a $100 drive that's going bad which they'll replace and I have very recent backups of just about everything that's important to me. Sure am glad I invested in that external backup drive a while back. So yeah, at least I don't need to buy a completely new laptop or anything.
Still, I decided to blow off some steam since that shitty Seagate hard drive is causing me all this grief with its bad sectors 'n all. So rather than slam my laptop on the ground, I decided to make an animated gif to demonstrate what really happened to my drive. (more...)
EPISODE 5 IS NOW PERMANENTLY ARCHIVED ONLINE:

Look! A three-headed monkey! Yes indeed, I grew up on a ton of amazing games in what people consider to be "the golden age of video gaming", but if I had to name one game as my all-time favorite, it would have to be The Secret of Monkey Island. So, it should come as no surprise that I'm excited as hell about how they just announced an upcoming Special Edition of the game (along with some new installments to the series). For the special edition, they redrew the entire game and recorded voice tracks for all the characters which actually look and sound pretty damned good. They seriously did a great job staying faithful to the original as you'll soon see. As if that's not enough, the game actually allows you to switch seamlessly between the new artwork style and the original pixelated graphics depending on which you prefer. How's that for pleasing the fans?
Check out this behind the scenes trailer from Destructoid to learn more about it:
I really couldn't be more excited about this game and I hope those of you who never had a chance to play The Secret of Monkey Island when you were younger will give it a shot. It's really the game that got me interested in making games of my own because it was the perfect blend of humor and adventure. Hell of a good soundtrack too.
Of course, we've done a few Monkey Island spoofs of our own here on I-Mockery so be sure to check 'em out as well:
So who here is as excited as I am to bust open a can of Grog and play the ultimate wannabe-pirate adventure once again?
