Doo-doo-doot-dadoot-da-doo-doo...I forget how it goes.

This may be Jase's last burst of glory before the upcoming remake truly consigns him to hell.

That game was silly in general, but as a kid, that was SCARY. It was like the first survival-horror NES game stateside. Pity it was retarded hard.

Riot.EXE on 02/14/2009 3:57 am

Jaimas - you mean retardedly programmed...

I saw the remake earlier...it was actually way better than I was expectin' it to be...but will the I-Mockery City Hustlaz approve? Time will tell...

I spent way too much time making that animated GIF, but it makes me happy every time I look at it now so it must've been worth the time.

And yeah, I haven't seen the new F13th flick yet, so I'll have to reserve my judgment until I do.

So what'd everybody do for Friday the 13th anyway? Anybody run into any particularly bad (or good) luck?

This year we get not just one Friday the 13th, but two! And in consecutive months! Surely that calls for some special celebration. Or perhaps a cheap tie-in with Valentine's Day like 'Unlucky in Love' or some such weak pun.

I work at a call center and two days ago I had a customer call in named Jennifer Voorhees, would have been better if her name was Pamela, but it still took everything I had to not laugh each time I said I'll be happy to help you, Ms. Voorhees

Why did the fine folks at LJN hate Jason so much that they put him in a purple jumpsuit?

I spent my Friday the 13th trying to pick up old ladies at the casino and then I went to a midnight showing of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre Remake... or was it the Friday the 13th remake? I honestly couldn't tell.

Did you know a horror franchise drowned last night? The Producer and Directer weren't paying any attention... They were counting their money while that cult icon drowned. It's name was Friday the 13th. I watching the night it happened. Losing my temper... there. I was a fan. Friday the 13th should've been awesome. Every minute! It was... It wasn't a very good remake. We can give up now... fans.

Hey guys, remember that Jason loves you all deep inside. You'll know once he rips your heart out and gives it as a present to you.

I had some bad luck this Friday the 13th. I went to the mall with my friend so he could hook me up with some chicks he knew....they were 13. Not cool. Afterwards I met a guy who's been trying to fight me for 2 years. I figured I'd give baby his bottle and see what he's got behind the movie theater. It's obvious how that went down. At least my face went numb and I couldn't actually feel any pain.

@Tom: It's because the NES has an absolutely PISS-POOR "colors-on-screen" limit. The NES was a great system, but even programming GURUS like Tomonobu Itagaki say it was one of the most god-awful systems to program for.

My mum wished me a happy 13th, and asked if I saw Freddy Kruger. I just gave her a blank look.

User avatar

Tom Foolery on 02/14/2009 4:48 pm

@ Kitsunexus

Trust me. They could have done better. I've been through the hexcodes a billion times for that game and it wasn't used to its full potential. There were parts of the game that were never eve realised. Hidden in the codes was a letter that mentions a swamp. Jason had two sets of tiles that could've been manipulated. The zombies also had a dual set of tiles as well. Fact is, LJN just dropped the ball on Friday the 13th probably due to a deadline.

What did I do for friday the 13th?

Got me and Mrs. Mix a 47 inch LCD Television and broke it in watching Office Space. Jason Vorhees is scary but Bill Lumberg? Downright Frigtening! MMMMM Yeah...

User avatar

Riot.EXE on 02/14/2009 8:01 pm

actually my friday the 13th was really good...like I said, I saw the remake and I did like it (although a couple things were REALLY questionable)...had the day off from work, and went to that movie with a friend who I may end up dating...

I think I got you all beat; I woke up yesterday morning and there wasn't any hot water, THEN at work we got a call from an irate old man who wanted me and my boss to walk him through the process of applying on a website for coupons for a deal that a store was doing that was being advertised in our newspaper. NO.

User avatar

Something pretty freaky happened on F13th.

Me and two of my friends were at my friend's house at night, and for some reason psych was on TV.

We weren't paying attention to it, it was just background noise. At one point in the show, though, a Jason-like masked killer burst through the door. It was really loud and sudden, and just when it happened, the lights went out. Serious blackout.

Yea it was freaking scary.

User avatar

Blankface212 on 02/14/2009 11:25 pm

my F13TH just flatout sucked. First in algebra we got 5 PAGES OF FREAKING HOMRWORK. Then in my elective we had a prick for a substitute. AND I COULD NOT SEE F13TH!!! (by the way i am 14)

User avatar

greenimp on 02/15/2009 2:28 am

i got given a lot of cool stuff on f the 13th

Friday the 13th sucked pretty bad.
My friend "forgot" to pick me up to take me to see the remake.
Instead, he took his baby brothers to see coraline.
Then I spent the whole day wondering if he was gay.

My dream of seeing (the remake of) Friday the 13th on Friday the 13th is forever crushed...

User avatar

Kitsunexus on 02/15/2009 10:43 am

@Tom: Well, boohoo, right? No matter what Jason's color is, it's still a shitty game that no one would really care about anyway.

Now with THIS generation, a F13 game would actually be decent.

User avatar

Tom Foolery on 02/15/2009 10:53 am

@Kitsunexus. Geez just stating a fact. You ain't got to be a whiny little girl about it. Don't try to make a point if you don't know what the heck you're talking about.

Didn't do much of anything for Friday the 13th this year. Saw the new one in theaters (short version: loved it), chatted with a friend for a couple hours, and then went to bed (had to get up really early on the 14th).

Luckily, I'm not concerned about wasting it, since there's another Friday the 13th in March.

I was making a beer run with a friend on the way to a party when I got a text message reading, "Have you heard of the band Seether?" I didn't recognize the number, so I replied, "Who is this?"
"It's your dad at the 3 Doors Down concert," came the reply. My flesh crawled. Apparently my dad picked that time to figure out how to send a text message, and chose to do so from a concert I had previously assumed he had enough taste to not attend. I spent many occasions in high school trying hard not to stab people in the face whenever that horrible "Superman" song was playing somewhere. This then led me to wonder if he was trying to impress me or was simply bored. I responded to him that I wasn't familiar with the band he asked about, not wanting to burst his bubble right away by admitting that I despised such garbage.
"They play music I think you'd like," he went on, fortunately unable to see me roll my eyes as my friend and I laughed heartily at his expense, especially at the point later on when he used "lol" in a sentence.
Quite an eerie and unexpected occurrence, on that night, of all nights.

Is it just me or do I see a foggy-looking skull in that disco ball?

I enjoyed the remake, much better than the Halloween remake by miles.

@cheez: now that you mention it...

Kybo Ren on 02/16/2009 12:31 pm

the remake was better than I thought it would be, which still dosn't make it great. moral of the new story "don't steal Jason's weed".

after the movie I bought alcohol for minors and got drunk in public with them. I'm a scumbag

User avatar

Kitsunexus on 02/16/2009 4:20 pm

@Tom: I know what I'm talking about. I turned one of the maze portions in Gambare Goemon to look like the first room in Gauntlet using a hex editor.

And your shit is wrong: The NES is maxing out it's pallete limitations, you must be running your emulator in a non-specific country mode(Famicom settings on a US game will give you inorrect readings). Set it to US specific, and dump it agaiun.

But you don't know what I'm talking about which is: WHO GIVE A FUCK IF JASON IS PURPLE, OBVIOUSLY THE GAME NEEDED A LOT MORE PROBLEMS FIXED THAN THAT.

User avatar

0dd1 on 02/16/2009 6:23 pm

I actually had a pretty awesome day on Friday. V-Day...that's a whole 'nother story entirely...

User avatar

Tom Foolery on 02/17/2009 7:41 pm

@Kitsunexus. Are you still on this? You must have even less of a life than I do. The answer to your question is... I GIVE A FUCK IF JASON IS PURPLE. The game was great I thought. It was challenging and required a little strategy, very uncommon for the day. It took me forever to beat this game and I kind of like that. What I don't like is how they made my favorite horror icon look like some gay jogger with a hockey mask. Admit it, they had other colors to work with besides purple and cyan. But you know what is even lamer than that!? Two idiots fighting over what some lame programmers did twenty years ago. Now, I'm a socially awkward hermit that's obsessed with old horror movies and video games... what's you excuse?

User avatar

saturnknight on 02/18/2009 8:38 am

the game was ok, scaired the hell out of me as a kid, now it's a joke... but RoG you should have "stayin alive" playing with this animation

User avatar

-RoG- on 02/18/2009 1:27 pm

saturnknight, I leave that task in your highly capable hands. Make it happen!

Friday The 13th 2009 it was the best movie I have ever seen, me and my friends went on to see it, we are really scared from this movie. It was just like the camp we have week ago. One of our friend got fear. May it was him. Wow this was a movie for a life time. Most fears horror movie for every one if you plan to go don’t go alone, it was a really horror filled movie i do seen it on free movies what a experience it was

User avatar

Great Mighty Poo on 02/20/2009 10:07 pm

I didn't see it but I was told Jason became both a track runner and an archer in that movie. Is he now a lord of the dance as well?

Cheesoboy (Guest) on 02/22/2009 11:52 pm

This is more in response to random comments about the game from Kitsunexus and Tom Foolery than anything else (I was floored that people were still looking at the code of a game that old:-P).

I'm highly entertained by the purple suit and thanks to RoG, I can now watch 8-bit Jason shake his groove thang whenever I am having a rough day:-D

I actually liked the game a lot for all its flaws...it was definitely unique and tried a very different approach. It also scared me as a kid as well. I have to point out though that I also liked (and still occasionally play) the NES Home Alone under the same logic so my tastes are subject to debate:-P

@Tom This Is a Shoot In The Dark And I Get I'm Responding To A Hella Old Post. But Are You The One Who Made the Jason Lives Hacked Rom?
