For example, weapons and spaceships are way cooler. Dialogs are far more common to the normal mortal than "I'm the super geek trecky" ones.
Darth Vader and StormTroopers are just the most amazingly designed characters of evil of all time.
The sense of the drama is also much more convincing than in the rest, including little furry animals and other tiny beast that go "mootiniii" all the time.

The would come the Matrix, because the concept of the first film was mindblowing and the execution greatly so. Then the rest of the saga was just delighting shooting scenes but the rest practically sucked.

Never could get into Star Treck, found it too boring...I was just a kid and Star Wars had the best charachters plus the best toys, how could I chose something else!

Well, I'm gonna be the lone trekkie, I suppose. Going through, all 3 are series that have some great stuff and some huge crap:

Star Wars has two good movies. Sorry, not a fan of Jedi or the prequels. The first two SW movies were absolutely awesome, though, and they've got a special place in my heart.

The Matrix has one good movie and a cool speech by The Architect in the second movie that no one but me seemed to understand. However, I'll even go so far as to say that the original Matrix movie got too action-y at the end, and dropped the intelligent plot for "let's blow the crap out of everything"... plus the movie Dark City already did something so similar in such a cooler way, and didn't end up with everything getting shot up, so I can't go with The Matrix here.

Star Trek was groundbreaking in the 60s, but fizzled out. Then the first couple of movies came out, and the even-numbered ones were awesome but the odd-numbered ones all sucked. Then The Next Generation came out... the first couple of seasons were just okay, but after that it was easily one of the best shows in TV history. The later movies were as hit-or-miss as the earlier ones, and Deep Space 9 got mixed reviews... then the latest 2 series sucked pretty badly. Yeah, another off and on franchise, but I've got to say that when TNG was going strong it was better than The Matrix or Star Wars ever were.

Though I have to say, lightsabers are pretty damn cool.

Star Trek. The SW prequels and the Matrix sequels were some of the worst acted, written, and directed films ever made. SW had Jar Jar and whiny Anakin, Matrix had Keanu and whiny Kid, Trek actually had distinguished actors and great stories. Game, set, and match. Even Star Trek V was a cinematic masterpiece compared to those other films.

Captain's Log Stardate 45.6.4 no one around here seems out to dig StarTrek and nearly all of them are saying it's not that cool. From here on let's set things straight by doing them some injury for WE'RE GOING IN ARMED FOR BATTLE.
I know I may be minority here( why do I still have any doubt?) but I'm definetely one with the Enterprise Gang. Star Trek is what we can all consider as an outright complete tv show as it owns seriousness and comic moments on their right measurement. the main darn thing I'm sure everyone liked in it is that, indirectly, the plot roughly displays the most common tussle of the world(ours) that is logical thought vs. emotional reasoning.if you have to choose between saving the nature or saving the ppl, which would be more worthwhile? nonethless star wars and matrix are just as cool, but Star Trek stands out since it appeases a broader audience. summing up we can use the following assigments to see which one is truly the greatest thing ever: Star Trek-better music; Star wars-better plot(and subplots)and matrix-better graphics.
And believe it or not I TRANSLATED THE ENTIRE LORD OF THE RINGS INTO KLINGONESE.

Firstly, a Google test gives Matrix as the winner (213,000,000 results) followed by SW and then Trek (133,000,000 and 55,800,000)

Box office totals it goes SW-Matrix-Trek ($4.3bn, $1.6bn, $1bn), although none are inflation adjusted.

Star Wars is clearly the winner OF ALL TIME. I think the Matrix just beats Star Trek because there are a lot more Matrix wacko's using the net then there are Trek fanboys.

I'm also gonna have to go with Star Wars, the original trilogy are still my favorite movies. Star trek comes at a distant second, I dont specifically care about it but a previous post of nerds in space seems to fit it nicely. The Matrix on it's own would have been enough to make it first place, but they had to dumb it down with two sequels which were nothing but big explosions, big fights and tight leather. ugh.

On the upside, V for Vendetta has made me want to kill the Wachowski brothers just a little less :D

I have to say battle star Galatica ((new version)) haha, editing style and masterful writing had made this a standard in what sci-fi should be!
Star Wars had 2 good movies, Star Trek had about 2. Matrix had 1. If it was a race it be a tie in good movies.
The only thing you can relate to Star Wars was there was a dictator and everyone can go on about there dictator stories from there other than that wasteful in sci-fi imagination we end up with cheesy lightsaber battles that can be in LOR for all I care!
Matrix had a problem of not explain itself in a fact that everything was a chase. Star wars episode 3 had that problem to. For it’s sci-fi you create and let it be foren to the viewers, if you do start to relate then there is a problem for there ideas probably ended up flat. Star Trek had one good thing going for it is that it’s rich in a vast world of races and culture of it’s own federation is to why it lasted pretty long just lets go and blame Enterprise. Star Wars was like, I do not know, oh this planet oh and this one, lets add a creature here and there, what the hell!! It’s like they wing it almost.

Star Wars is full of too many whiners--Anakin and the early Luke cannot be compensated for by Chewbacca or Han Solo, I'm sorry. Plus George Lucas is the biggest merchandising whore of all time, and I have zero respect for the prequels. The Matrix never should have been a trilogy--it turned into a special effects marathon with no substance (much like the SW prequels). So STAR TREK definitely gets my vote (the original, no TNG) because of its ground-breaking material, hilariously eclectic cast, and fun plots.

SW is by far a more richer and versatile world.The empire for example includes more than one million star systems as opposed to roughly one hundred and fifty star systems of Starfleet.And SW canon is much bigger and show an array of diversity that ST dpes'nt have to offer.

With the original Star Wars, Lucas couldn't have been less involved. He stole the scenario, he stole the characters and added two homosexual robots, he stole the culture and just set in space. Thats it. He created a setting and adequately shot a film, where he left all the special effects the movie is revered for to other people, as well as single handedly handing over all creative input and control from the director to the producer. Way to go Lucas, you definately deserve all the kudos. If anything the last Star Wars films should've proved Lucas can't write. Shut up about Lucas.

But despite Lucas' involvement, Star Wars (the originals) are entertaining nonetheless, despite the cheesy storyboard in which everyone seems to be related. As well as some ephebophilia in the later terrible films in which *GREAT LEAP* the homosexual robots are replaced with infuriating aliens.

However the Matix one of very few movies that has unstimulating and dull action and just scenes in general. Maybe if the Wachowski brothers weren't plagiarizing super geeks and the action choreographer wasn't overly obsessed with fighting that looks like dancing and wires then the Matrix could preserve someones interest longer than five minutes. Also the Matrix wasn't the only thing to use bullet time. Get over it.

The early Star Trek movies can be entertaining if you manage to remain objective and not be swayed by the fact someone is dressed up like a Clingon(?) reading an English-Clingon Dictionary. The Star Treks used to be purely premise entertainment as well as the captain getting green pussy. The 'what if' story but slowly became overly focused on character interaction and the setting. I don't care if it's in space and theres only so many times I can hear Scotty say "I can' push it anymore capt'in" or Kirk profess his love for Spock. I hate the post Shatner ones. Highly concentrated character interaction and fucking includes a stupid android with a pinnochio complex as main character.

Sci Fi is one of those genres (like fantasy) that barely extends beyond setting and characters which suits most geeks. I'd expect to see the unrestricted Sci Fi to make at least a political, social or religion commentary (Star Wars is contrived and superficial) or alter and IMPROVE upon action sequences (swords made out of light are still swords as are wave making punches) or introduce philosophical questioning or ANYTHING EXTRA. Otherwise they are just dramas in denial, set in space with wacky and zany weapons. Which one do I think is better? Star Trek of course. Where else can you see William Shatner perform extreme overacted (if he could act) poses?

Ok girls, time to put this to rest. Start crying you SW wookie heads. Star Trek wins hands down and I'll give you one reason, the only reason, James T Kirk. How can this be you ask? Sit back on your Ewok fur bean bag chairs and prepare to be enlightened.

First, Captain Kirk has beaten the crap out of every single alien life form in the galaxy. Hell, they shipped in aliens from other galaxies and he still kicked thier asses. He's personally handed the Klingon Empire more defeats than they've suffered in their entire military history. You sneak up behind a Klingon and yell "Look, there's Captain Kirk!", that Klingon will crap his pants on the spot. Kirk emasculated an entire warrior race!

Women. When Kirk ran out of alien men to beat down he was bedding their women. Size, shape, skin color... didn't matter. As long as it was female Kirk was on it. Darth Vader was practically a virgin. Luke was trying to do his sister. God knows what Han and Chewie were doing on those long smuggling runs. Jedi have to swear off sex or some crap like that. Still wanna be a Jedi?

You can say Jedi this or Wookie that, it does not matter. Kirk never met either, but if he did, he would have kicked thier ass. And he didn't have any special Jedi powers, no mind tricks or light sabers. It was all Kirk baby! Lets see a Jedi deflect a phaser on wide dispersal disintegrate. Not gonna happen.

Someone claimed Admiral Ackbar as being cool??? Come on, he lost over half his fleet fighting the Empire in Return of the Jedi! If Kirk was commanding, they might have lost a handful of fighters and a support ship or two.

It's no contest. Kirk has defeated gods. Gods! Let's see a Jedi do that! One more factor in his favor is that he was never a whiney little bitch! Luke was bad enough, but his father was a much bigger whinier bitch. Darth Vader may at one time have been close to the almighty Kirk in reputation but the prequel trilogy destroyed all that.

In conclusion, Star Trek did not have Jar Jar Binks. 'Nuff said.

First of all, Star Trek is one of the only shows that makes you feel smarter when watching it. Think about it. If you watch pretty much any of the time travel episodes from Next Generation, you feel like you deserve a masters in quantum physics. The only part of the Matrix that makes you feel smarter is that Archetect speech, and that was only hard because he through in the words "ergo" and "visa vi" for no reason, and I'm pretty sure watching the Star Wars prequels actually LOWERS your intelligence.

The Matrix was good. Reloaded was subpar. Revolutions was basically what happens when you take a fun movie, then remove the fun part surgically.

And another thing in Star Trek's defense: Not once has any directors gone back to remake the old Star Trek episodes because they realized they were great already. George Lucas pretty much changes the original trilogy every three hours. Soon, he'll pretty much remove everything good about it.

-A new scene that shows Ewoks getting it on.
-All the lightsabers are replaced with walkie talkies.
-Obi Wan now speaks in Hutt language the entire film.
-A new, 45 minute scene that shows Jabba the Hutt eating a box of Tatooine donuts
-Geedo shoots first, kills Han, and for the rest of the movie, Han Solo is replaced by Jar Jar Binks

if you think about, ALL of these movies were good in the begining. then George Lucas tore down the popularity and the admiration people had for his original movies by making episodes 1,2,and 3. Star Trek wasn't changed much, but all the time traveling and alternate universes and different versions of the enterprise gets confusing and annoying pretty quick. The matrix and MAtrix reloade wre pretty good, but the third one wasn't. So, my point is i like them all when they're the original,classic thing, not some new crap
