Back from the dead… sort of.

So I've been sick as hell for the past 4 days, and I'm still not over it yet. I've been enjoying a wide variety of symptoms: coughing, sore throat, running nose, headaches, aching muscles, chills, cold sweats... you name it. It's times like these that I'm reminded of just how nasty the human body can be. I shouldn't be able to generate enough snot to fill a wheelbarrow, but I'll be damned if I didn't do just that over the past 4 days. I also didn't get much sleep at all (it's kind of hard to when you're choking on your own snot) so I've spent pretty much the entire time on the couch watching TV.

Now I enjoy a good movie or show as much as the next guy, but 4 days of nothing but that is enough to drive a guy mad. I was at least lucky enough to catch "My Bodyguard" on TV though, one of my favorite movies from my childhood. Long live Ricky Linderman! Now I'm itching to see "Three O'Clock High" as well. Are there any other good school bully flicks you can think of?

Well anyway, I've got a ton of emails and stuff to catch up on, I'll try to have something new up on the site later this week when I'm feeling all better. In the meantime, you can check out the latest piece I did for Cracked: Know Your Gang Hand Signs. Between that and a viewing of "Cool As Ice", you'll surely have more street cred than anyone.

On a final note, it looks as though you guys went all out with the sci-fi geek battle in that previous blog post. I gotta say I'm surprised Star Wars won by such a landslide... I figured it'd at least be a little closer between that and Star Trek.

Alright, I gotta go get some more rest now before the evil phlegms overpower me once again.

John Boy (Guest) on 03/21/2006 1:33 pm

I'm not sure if it can be classified as a bully flick, but I watched "The Boy Who Could Fly" at least 50 times growing up, and ya know what I'm suprised I didn't turn out more fruity.

John Boy, that movie totally qualifies. Sure it's not solely based on the bully situation, but seeing a young Fred Savage determined to make it around the block on his Big Wheels ride? That's easily the best thing about the movie... well that and his obsession with G.I. Joe.

El Singario (Guest) on 03/21/2006 6:00 pm

Was that the movie about the kid with the magical possessed flying skateboard?

El Guano (Guest) on 03/21/2006 7:49 pm

RoG I know exactly how you feel, ive been hit by somthing very similar to what you got.All ive been able to do is blow my nose and watching TVland and Comedy Central.

Teh Black Cat (Guest) on 03/21/2006 7:52 pm bully flicks...

Teh Black Cat (Guest) on 03/21/2006 7:57 pm

Seriously though, it's symbolism. Christ is the kid, that group of angry people that murdered/martyred him is the school, and Mary is an angry bear with a shotgun.

ColdFusion (Guest) on 03/22/2006 3:34 am

Man, I can't imagine going 4 days WITHOUT spending most of my time watching TV.. time goes so agonizingly slow without the ol' pleasure-screen.

Angus (Guest) on 03/22/2006 5:59 am

does freddy kreuger count as a bully?
you'll need media player 10.

Angryhydralisk (Guest) on 03/22/2006 9:45 am

The only tv I ever seriously watch is Food Network. But yeah, being sick sucks. Get well soon, dude.

screwigi (Guest) on 03/22/2006 9:53 am

being ill sucks. it does even worse when you don't like watching telly (n i fuckin LOATHE tv).the last time I was ever badly sick was in february 2000. I puked at least twice every hour and it wasn't until 1 week I was friggin fully gotten it over with . just a good job i didn't throw up since then and now i proudly hold the record of my current life in "standing the longest while ever without purging". i can't seem to think up any bully flick but JACKFROST( there's one in that but soon his destiny is sorted out)and SOUL VENGEANCE(it's a rather obscure movie).the latter can be regarded so if you were to consider THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST and JESUS CHRIST VAMPIRE HUNTER as much.

three o'clock high is rad as fuck

Staxeon (Guest) on 03/23/2006 6:58 am

The Explorers, with River Phoenix, where they build that spaceship out of the old carnival ride. There was some bully mixed in there, not alot, but enuff to qualify I think.

James. (Guest) on 03/23/2006 9:55 am

Big bully.

Alex (Guest) on 03/23/2006 3:26 pm

I was just sick for almost two months. I would get better every other week, and then come down with something entirely new. Stomach flu, cold, regular flu.

And fuck "Get well soon"; get well NOW.

Azael (Guest) on 03/23/2006 10:09 pm

The bad news is you might have the dreaded bird flu :(
the good news is that I just saved 15% off my car insurance by switching to Geico :D

JK :D Get Well Soon!

IS_ChRiS (Guest) on 03/25/2006 3:15 am

B. Genetta (Guest) on 03/25/2006 1:53 pm

Iknow exactly what you are saying. I got the same exact thing like a month ago.

me (Guest) on 03/25/2006 4:04 pm

The last time i was sick was in 2004, and it was kick ass, execpt the puking and the hurtsies. I just watched old horror and action movies, fuckin' Bubba Ho-Tep was on the telly (very strange considering i live in Finland) It was funny as hell. Everybody who hasn't seen Bubba Ho-Tep must rent it, THEY MUST. You can't miss a Elvis played by Bruce Campbell fighting a mummy in a retirement home with a black JFK.

The Recipe Wizard (Guest) on 03/26/2006 1:15 am

That sucks dude. Sorry you were feeling so bad.

James (Guest) on 03/27/2006 3:17 pm
