After making tons of great suggestions, you guys waited a while to see how our new 8-bit Halloween print would turn out. Well my friends, the wait is over. This past Friday night, the print made its debut at Gallery 1988's fifth annual "Crazy 4 Cult" show along with some amazing cult film pieces by other artists, and now it's your turn to see what it looks like. Behold:
8-bit Halloween - click to enlarge!
This is the high quality 8-bit Halloween giclée print (limited to 50 signed & numbered pieces) and Gallery 1988 has put some of them up on their web site for sale so those of you who couldn't make it to the Crazy 4 Cult show can still get them. You can order the 8-bit Halloween prints here while they remain in stock. And don't worry, for those of you who can't afford the archival print, we will have the standard pixel posters coming out in the not too distant future as well.
I'm extremely happy with how this one turned out. There are so many references crammed into it and you guys already know that Halloween is my favorite holiday, so I think it's safe to say that this one is my favorite of the three pixel prints we've done so far. I hope you all love it as much as I do and thanks again to all of you who made suggestions for the print. Please drop a comment below and lemme know what ya think!
And now we start making our final preparations for the San Diego Comic-Con, including getting the full version of Abobo's Big Adventure ready for all to play. July is always one hell of a busy month, but a fun one too.
Drew Bludd on 07/11/2011 8:49 pm
... anybody gonna try and name them all?
Drew Bludd on 07/11/2011 9:08 pm
I like looking at this because I see someone new every time. Anyone else notice Pee Wee and Large Marge in the Maximum Overdrive truck?
Thanos on 07/11/2011 9:16 pm
I can't believe my suggestion of Rawhead Rex made the cut. That's probably the biggest shocker to me. It's nearly a forgotten film! All in all, it's chock full of nostalgic goodness. I also think I spot my Midnight Society suggestion in there, but not sure yet. Bravo on another great piece of artwork!
Ash2Dust (Guest) on 07/11/2011 9:41 pm
How hard are these things to make? They're very hard, but rewarding, to look at.
I think this one is the one where I recognize the most stuff.

Fathom Zero on 07/12/2011 5:00 am

-and i think i spotted nemesis from resident evil 3
can't place the rest of what bludd showed
Suzanne (Guest) on 07/12/2011 1:11 pm
1st picture bottom left is a demon from the original Doom. 2nd picture bottom right looks like a ghost Pokemon.
Drew Bludd on 07/12/2011 1:20 pm
I think 1st picture, top left is Willard.
I think 3rd picture, under Scarecrow is Stephen King's character in Creepshow.
Danny 4 Eyes on 07/12/2011 1:42 pm
Yessssss, have spotted Endless Mike and his gang from the Pete and Pete Halloween special. Also the Baseball Furies, amazeballs
DonkeyRyan on 07/12/2011 1:52 pm
I'm sure that green face thing it from the movie Nightmares. The one where Emilio is playing the arcade game.
WeaponX (Guest) on 07/12/2011 3:21 pm
1st pic, middle right - Death from Sandman?
2nd pic, bottom right - Gengar
Drew Bludd on 07/12/2011 3:55 pm
Thanks, guys!
Keep 'em comin!
Dsinder on 07/12/2011 6:34 pm
Yes! The Zuni fetish doll. Along with him and Kolchak: The Night Stalker, gave me many a nightmare!
Anyone else spotted the dead/zombie 'Waldo' yet?
GrindhouseCinema (Guest) on 07/12/2011 7:29 pm
YES! This poster is fantastic... while I cannot afford the $100.00 version I will be picking up the standard one for sure. Is that Boo Berry beating Count Chocula to death with a baseball bat while Frankenberry watches in horror? I see Doc Mock and Miss D on there as well! This thing is cool.
dextire on 07/12/2011 9:48 pm
Wow, you guys found most of them fast!
The list should probably be spoiler tagged though, so as to not ruin the surprise for people intending to buy the poster and search on their own. :)
NotDavid on 07/12/2011 9:50 pm
Whoa, is that Anita from Darkstalkers sitting around the fire near the middle?
Drew Bludd on 07/13/2011 12:19 pm
I believe it is!
Drew Bludd on 07/13/2011 12:27 pm
It also looks like one of the aliens from The Simpsons is killing an alien from Mars Attacks. And I think Count Duckula just ate Scrooge McDuck?
Nick on 07/13/2011 5:34 pm
Rog, I gotta know if any of my suggestions made it into this.
I want to feel even better about my new purchase.
Nick on 07/13/2011 5:36 pm
Woah, wait. What. $100.00, Rog? I got both of the last poster for $18.00. What's the dealie, yo?
Jonny#5 on 07/13/2011 6:50 pm
I love this, there's so much to look at! Here's some more characters I've noticed in it:
- Sesame Street's The Count
- Teen Wolf (on the Monster Truck)
- Ronald McDonald
- The Toxic Avenger
- Super Mario's Boo
- Herbert West (Reanimator)
- Bubba Hotep's Elvis Presley
- Christine (the Stephen King car)
- Charlie Brown's Linus and Lucy
- slime covered telphone booth from Ghostbusters 2
- Minecraft's creeper
- The Adams family
NotDavid on 07/14/2011 4:48 am
Also, the thing eating Ronald McDonald is a Bizarran from Golden Axe.
Drew Bludd on 07/14/2011 6:33 am
Jonny#5, I haven't found Herbert West yet. Where is he? Also, I think the telephone booth is from The Blob 88.
Nick on 07/14/2011 9:38 am
Haha, alright! Some of my suggestions made it into the poster!
Some of my suggestions I've spotted:
-Uncle Fester
-Ghost n' Goblins Characters (Arthur and a Zombie) made it in.
-Simon Belmont
-Zombies Ate my Neighbors Characters (The boy player)
-Any of the Resident Evil Characters (Nemesis is watching Pyramid Head)
-Ash Williams or Bruce Campbell (Ash is trying to find the real Necronomicon)
-Pyramid Head (He is killing Simon Belmont and Count Pop)
Really wish Rick from Splatterhouse was in there too, but this is pretty rad. :D
-RoG- on 07/14/2011 7:32 pm
Glad you all like it! Keep posting any little details you spot... I'm glad to see people noticing things like the driver and passenger of the big truck, who is pitching to the Baseball Furies and more.
When we originally posted looking for suggestions, we had roughly half of the print already finished... so a lot of your suggestions were already on the print before you even made your suggestions. Still, you guys came up with lots of great ideas we tried to use as many of them as possible, so thanks again!
DonkeyRyan - Correct, that head is from Nightmares. That was one of the first things I wanted on the print haha!
Nick - Read the blog post. This is the limited edition signed & numbered archival print from Gallery 1988's "Crazy 4 Cult" show, just like we always do with them. This isn't the cheaper poster version which isn't out yet, so that's why it's $100.
Drew Bludd - Yep, that's The Blob on the phone booth. Always loved that scene!
Keep picking out the details in the poster. After all the time that was put into it, it's fun to see what little things you guys notice after staring at it long enough!
blood_panther on 07/14/2011 11:39 pm
just loving the dennis nedry death action in the lower right corner.
Nick on 07/14/2011 11:58 pm
Yeah, Rog. I noticed after I posted that. Can't wait to buy the cheaper version. I still need to frame my first two posters. Maybe I can find me a frame and fit all three of them in it sometime.
Drew Bludd on 07/15/2011 7:51 pm
I TOO FOUND WALDO! I thought Dsnider was joking.
GrindhouseCinema on 07/16/2011 4:25 pm
I don't know about you guys but I am really looking forward to Halloween this year. Everything seems to be moving so quickly towards the holiday as I've already spotted bags of Candy Corn in the grocery stores... and Hallmark has all there Halloween decorations (as well as Christmas!) set up. They are selling these really neat figures from 'It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown'
Every year it seems like Christmas moves in earlier and earlier, taking precious time away from Halloween. Therefore I fully endorse Halloween moving all the way up to mid-July like this.
blood_panther on 07/16/2011 11:00 pm
@nick
i'd hold off getting a frame for 3....if my theory is correct we may see at least one more poster....I mean we got summer, fall, and winter posters. just need a spring themed one and we're set!
Drew Bludd on 07/21/2011 12:16 pm
You know, I don't want to put any undue pressure on RoG but there's enough iconic spooky figures out there that can be converted to 8-bit that he could make a totally different second Halloween pixel poster and not repeat anybody!
monster_movie_night on 07/21/2011 8:46 pm
why the hell you guys didnt want me to post any comments about some ideas for monsters showing up on pixel art?you guy suck
The Nun Eater on 08/01/2011 7:15 pm
I don't know if any one has mentioned the Cacodemon from DOOM yet, but that totally sold me on this poster.
Golobulus (Guest) on 08/02/2011 12:23 am
I stumbled onto this at gallery1988 and had to order it! That was my first intro to i-mockery. I noticed that you provided a "reference legend" for the other pixel party prints. Is a legend available for the Halloween pixel party??
Thanks for the awesome artwork!
-RoG- on 08/02/2011 2:31 pm
Golobulus - Thanks for buying the limited edition 8-bit Halloween print at Gallery 1988, much appreciated! Also, check your email. :)
That Other Guy on 08/02/2011 3:36 pm
What is that flesh-colored xenomorph-looking creature directly below the killer soda machine and to the left of the Jack-O-lantern pile?
Could it possibly be one of the monsters from the original TMNT cartoon? The episode with the pizzas that had sausage that would turn into monsters when put in the microwave?
Drew Bludd on 08/03/2011 10:05 pm
Other Guy, I believe that's Pumpkinhead.
That Other Guy on 08/04/2011 12:46 am
So it is, so it is.
But you gotta admit, the similarities are vast. (Seriously, look up "Case of the Killer Pizzas")
LemonWitch (Guest) on 08/11/2011 1:34 am
Holy crap, it's Bazooey, Tender, and Small. I was talking about that Halloween special literally yesterday. I thought I was the only person left on the planet to remember that one!
daff3w (Guest) on 08/22/2011 1:28 am
yo do know all those images are cpyrightd and you could probably get in trouble for slling that poster
Christina Humphries (Guest) on 08/26/2011 8:21 pm
Hi! These image reminds me of the old cartoon show "Where's Wally" wherein you have to find the lead character Wally in a bunch of a mixed image and you are given 1 minute to do so. =)
