Egad! It's raining pumpkins and kids in costumes! This can mean only one thing: Halloween season has officially begun! As most of you know (or should know), September 1st marks the beginning of I-Mockery's annual "Two Months of Halloween" celebration. Everything you see on this site between now and October 31st will be nothing but Halloween-oriented madness, so you might as well stop trying to fight it and get into the spirit of the season. As I've stated before, this is easily my favorite time of the year and there's no reason why it shouldn't be celebrated for more than a month. One month just isn't enough for something as cool as Halloween, so we're celebrating it for two and there's nothing anybody can do about it. Halloween seems to have encroached into summer's territory more than ever this year too, so that's nice to see. I'm not saying I saw the Creature from the Black Lagoon surfing at the beach in full effect or anything, but I did see some Halloween decorations out on display in some local shops in early June. You see? Some places get it.
And the horror movies have also started creeping into various TV stations too, which is always a welcome sign. Hell, a horror movie just came on TV as I'm writing this blog entry. It's called "Nights In Rodanthe" and lemme tell ya... it looks fucking TERRIFYING. I'm not sure if I have the intestinal fortitude to watch that one all by myself. I've already stopped by one of the open-year-round Halloween shops to check out some of the latest seasonal goods, but I'm also looking forward to seeing some of the seasonal ones pop up here in town. When those suckers appear, you know Halloween season is in full effect. Well those and all the theme parks getting "Halloweenified" along with the independent
As always, we pride ourselves on doing Halloween better than anybody else on the web, so we've got all sorts o' spooktastic things planned for the 2009 Halloween season here on I-Mockery. That being said, if any of you have suggestions for Halloweeny things you'd like to see us cover, please let us know here in the blog thread. It doesn't matter if it's a Halloween event taking place in your area, a horror movie, a costume, some new candy, or some completely bizarro new Halloween novelty... we wanna hear about it even if it's not something we're able to do an article on this year.
To those of you who aren't well acquainted with our annual Halloween celebration here on I-Mockery, I recommend you check out some of our main Halloween attractions. And hell, even if you've been with us for years, it wouldn't hurt to look back over all that old stuff to help get in the spirit o' things.
-I-Mockery's Halloween Collection: Here you'll find quick 'n easy access to most of our Halloween material from the past. Extremely in-depth horror movie and candy reviews, product reviews, and of course the boppin' Halloween adventures of Count Pop himself.
-The Halloween Grab Bag: Much like our "Shorts" section, this is a place where you'll find our smaller Halloween articles, but often covering some of the weirdest stuff we've ever stumbled upon.
-The Greatest Horror Movie Moments: Another favorite is our ongoing quest to document some of the finest moments in horror movies. Sometimes they're moments you're well aware of, other times, it's stuff you probably never knew existed. Either way, if you're looking for some horror movies to check out this season, this is a good place to start.
-Trick-Or-Treat Adventure: Our largest Flash game to date... and it's all about Halloween. If you're a fan of classic adventure games such as Monkey Island and Space Quest, you'll feel right at home with this one as you go on an adventure to build a Halloween costume and then collect enough candies before you battle the ultimate evil! It even auto-saves your progress as you go play, so you don't have to beat the game all in one sitting.
-Haunted House Candy Hunt: In this Halloween flash game we pay tribute to the games of the Atari 2600 by creating an all new one in the same style. You must guide two buddies (who just so happen to be from a galaxy far, far away) through all the treacherous rooms of a spooky haunted house as they hold hands. Should you reach the end of the game, you'll have a showdown with the ultimate candy hoarder - The Grim Reaper himself! I've also heard from a reliable source (ie: myself) that there's a secret level select hidden somewhere in the game. But you don't need that anyway, right? Cheater!
-Doc Mock's Movie Mausoleum: Word on the street is that our resident horror and b-movie host, Doc Mock, will be returning with brand new LIVE episodes starting on Friday, September 18th! Until then, be sure to catch up on all the horrifying and bizarre flicks he's already aired along with his co-host, Miss Diagnosis, and mutant tech guru, Licky! As always, you can expect crazy new guests to join in with the Doc on every episode!
Of course, you can still expect our regular site updates to the Blabber Blog and Weeklies section (and we have plenty of archived Halloween blog entries for you peruse), along with a whole new slew of Halloweeny articles this season. We've also got some great Halloween contests in store for you to participate in as well. I-Mockery's big 2009 Halloween season has finally begun and I hope you guys will all be here to join in all the ghoulicious fun!

Finally! I always look forward to this every year. Will Count Pop be making an appearance?
hisholiness on 09/01/2009 6:03 am
YAY!!! I think you should make the new candies/treats of the season one of the regular attractions. Let me be the first to wish you a Happy Halloween!!!
Pandajuice on 09/01/2009 6:36 am
Awesome! My favorite time of year on this site! Please do a lot of horror movie write-ups this year. I felt like you guys went a little light on them last year, and they are easily my favorite part of the Halloween season at I-Mockery.
I'd love to see Rog's take on Candyman and the Puppet Master films.
MissEvie on 09/01/2009 7:01 am
Rocky Horror Picture Show on the Dr Mock show?
Please.........

The air is getting cooler, the specialty shops are opening and pumpkin RoG is on I-Mockery! Halloween has begun! Bring on the candies!
-RoG- on 09/01/2009 4:56 pm
Thanks for all the warm Halloween wishes everybody! Glad you're as excited about it as I am. Please do keep posting your suggestions and want-lists for our Halloween coverage here in this thread. I'll do my best to deliver the goods!
Piyo, I definitely hope we can make Count Pop have an appearance! We certainly had enough requests for him... it just all depends on his busy rockabilly schedule! ;)
Pandajuice, I looooove the original Candyman film. It was such a brilliant movie and you couldn't cast a better person to play him. And you can't go wrong with the Puppet Master flicks... always a lot of fun. I actually own two life-size replicas of Blade and Pinhead. Maybe I'll post a photo of myself with them on here sometime this season! As for doing more long horror movie write-ups, we'll definitely do some, but those often take well over a WEEK just to finish due to the number of screenshots and animations we have to create in addition to writing the actual piece. Myself and Dr. Boogie are the only ones who really even bother to do those. Don't think Protoclown's ever done one (though he should!), and I know Max doesn't have the software to do those... so we'll see how many we can do. At the very least, you'll see plenty of horror movie coverage in the "Greatest Horror Moments" section, in the Weeklies and in other articles throughout the season!
MissEvie, haha, Rocky Horror is far too widely celebrated to appear on Doc Mock really. If he was going to show a musical, it would probably be some crazy old flick from Bollywood.

You ever think about covering "The Halloween that Almost Wasn't"?
It was an ancient 1979 TV special where Dracula got all the classic horror monsters together to tell them if they didn't toughen up and get their shit in line he'd replace them all.
Then the witch said "good."
Then shit got real.
It was sweet as hell and featured Judd Hirsch and Henry Gibson.

Puppetgeneral--Don't forget the climatic disco scene at the end of "The Halloween That Almost Wasn't"
Rog--I'm putting another vote in for a review/screencapping of "The Halloween That Almost Wasn't"
payne on 09/01/2009 10:34 pm

I have two words for you:
Zombie. Diaries.
Nice Movie.
Captain Seamus on 09/01/2009 10:41 pm
Woo! I only have DEMANDS requests:
1. Another top ten kills list! Michael Myers or the Cenobites need some love.
2. A "The People Under The Stairs" review/rundown/hootenanny.
puppetgeneral39 on 09/01/2009 10:51 pm
Hey Maria!
Best part of that disco scene was the piano player. That feathered headdress bouncing from side to side, keeping perfect beat with that sweet disco sync, truly awesome!
BreakMan (Guest) on 09/01/2009 10:55 pm
dude, you should totally do another one of those 'Select your destiny' books you didnt make one last year But hopefully there is one this year!
ShaggE (Guest) on 09/02/2009 7:20 pm
The hap-happiest season of all. :D This is always one of my favorite sites, but when Halloween rolls around, it becomes my absolute favorite. I don't know how you guys pull it off every year, but keep on keepin' on.
Maria (Guest) on 09/02/2009 9:00 pm
Puppetmaster--I agree, I think he may have had some Xmas tinsel hanging off of him in spots as well--and sunglasses. And wasn't he playing the piano or something as well as being syncopated to the music?
They just don't make Halloween specials like that anymore.
I gotta see it now!!
Julio on 09/02/2009 9:50 pm
Will Re have a part in the celebration by teaching us how to make more horrifying Halloween Treats like last year?
On the other hand, It's impossible not to love Halloween during the two months that I-Mockery has skulls plastered all over the place.
Dustin Lesiuk (Guest) on 09/03/2009 10:12 am
You need a Greatest Horror Movie Moments on The Raft Massacre from the The Burning and possibly something from Maximum Overdrive.
dklkse (Guest) on 09/03/2009 10:31 am
I second a Candyman review/take. I think that would be the shiznit.
Either way, gotta love the Halloween season here at i-mockery!

Maria -
He was playing a big electronic organ. Well, playing doesn't describe it well enough. He was rocking the ivory off those keys!
