Now here's a totally unexpected surprise for the holidays this year. You guys already know that I'm a huge fan of Silent Night, Deadly Night - the controversial Christmas slasher film from the 80s that was quickly yanked out of theaters and became a cult hit on home video. In recent years, they put the original two films on DVD, and while those two are sadly out of print once again, parts 3 - 5 have just been released in a DVD set!
All of these flicks were released direct-to-video, and while they may not hold a candle to the original film or the hilariously exploitative sequel, it's gonna be nice to finally have them to complete the set. And trust me, there are still plenty of amusing moments in those sequels from bad acting to cheesy death scenes. I mean, come on, part 5 is all about killer toys... how's that for completely abandoning the original storyline about a psycho Santa on the loose? I seriously can't wait to get my hands on a copy of this set.
In case you missed out on it, here's my review of the original

In other news, I went snowboarding for the first time since we moved out to California last night. I'll try to post some photos and videos from our little excursion sometime during the week.

I know you've all been searching long and hard, trying to figure out what the ultimate gift for Christmas might be this year. Well, I may have found it. There's a new line of Star Wars science toys out this season, and one of them in particular has caught my attention: The Star Wars Dagobah Frog Habitat! Holy crap, holy crap, holy crap, HOLY CRAP! A chance to have frogs raised by Yoda! If that doesn't jingle your bells this season, nothing will.
Now I'm as much a fan of the original 1981 Dagobah playset by Kenner as anybody - after all, I grew up on those toys - but you wanna know what that set was lacking? FROGS. This Frog habitat comes with the Dagobah swampland surface area, some background scenery featuring Luke's X-Wing stuck in the swamp, the hideaway hut and Yoda himself. Yoda is right there on the box telling us what adventures await: "Discover how frogs play an important role in earth's ecosystem, you will." Also included is a mail-away coupon for live tadpoles.
I've received a variety of strange things in the mail over the years, but I gotta say... the incredible thrill of receiving live tadpoles in the mail is something that probably couldn't ever be surpassed. Not only that, but can't tell me you're not already picturing yourself placing the tadpoles into the Habitat and whipping out your best Yoda impersonation as you tell them, "Grow or grow not. There is no try." Then after your tadpoles have matured and become Frog Jedi, you can send them off to save the galaxy from the Empire (whom I can only assume would be played by common house flies).
I mean just look at that promotional photo. How can you not be completely sold on this thing? You too could wear the simple tan attire of a Jedi Master while looking over your frogs and tadpoles. If there's a better way to spend your time this holiday season, I'd like to hear it. I should also mention that there's a Naboo Sea Creatures habitat in which you raise triops instead of the more typical Sea Monkeys. Did you know that triops are also called dinosaur shrimp? Well now you do, so don't say you never learned anything here on I-Mockery, and I suggest asking your waiter for them the next time you're at a seafood restaurant. Anyway, it's a decent set and thankfully there's no Jar-Jar or any of his pals in sight, but I still prefer frogs in Dagobah over it. I'll take frogs in Dagobah over just about anything.
Survey: Share with us what some of the top items on your Christmas wish list are this year! (Naturally, all of you will have merchandise from the I-Mockery Store on those lists... right? Riiiiiiiight.)
Just a quick note today... I wanted to let you guys know that we've just updated our MonsterTime game. For those of you with accounts on Newgrounds, we've just added a whole slew o' medals to the game, so now you can rack up some major medal points just by playing the game. Some are easy to get and others, such as the medal for scoring 200,000 points, will separate the gaming gods from the mere mortals of MonsterTime. So login to your account on Newgrounds and start earning those medals. You might as well brush up on your gaming skills anyway since we have another game coming out in late December!

In other news, our Christmas holiday site redesign is up so you can all feel a bit more festive now. Ho, ho, ho!
Whether you're in the States or elsewhere in the world, I hope you're all having a spiffy turkey day. May it be filled with meals that are far more scrumptious than Goblin Meat Pudding. I'm sure I'll be watching Planes, Trains & Automobiles before the day is done as it's a Thanksgiving tradition, and I suggest you all do the same. Also, I thought all of you might like to know that I-Mockery's FIRST Christmas-themed game ever is currently in production, and I can't wait to unveil it to you guys next month once it's finished! It's going to kick you in the jingle bells so damn hard, you'll be puking up mistletoe and eggnog before you know it.
Anyway, back to feasting! (more...)
